₊⊹⁀➴ "to every woman who’s ever been told to 'smile more.' fuck that. do what you want.”

First of all, I’m genuinely shocked at how much I loved an Ana Huang book. It’s not that I dislike her, it's just that all her books usually feel the same to me. The characters, the storylines, everything is so predictable. And yes, this one was predictable too, but let me tell you, Ana Huang outdid herself with this one. This book had me giggling and smiling like a teenage girl, and I wasn’t even mad about it!

“Happy? Now you won’t be distracted by my incredible physique.”
“No, I’ll just suffocate beneath the weight of your inflated ego.”

ABOUT THE BOOK

This book revolves around Xavier Castillo, the son of a multi-billionaire who’s carefree, the life of the party, and loves spending his fortune without a second thought. On the flip side, we have Sloane Kensington, a hardworking, responsible, and self-made woman who rebuilt her life after her parents cut her off.

Sloane owns Kensington PR, where Xavier is her client, and let’s just say these two can’t stand each other. She despises his laid-back attitude, and he can’t handle her over-the-top planning. But as they say, opposites attract, and this book is proof of that! Things take a turn when Xavier’s dying father releases a will with a list of rules Xavier has to follow to earn his billion-dollar inheritance. I know, it sounds like a basic plot, but Ana Huang worked her magic with this one. I was so hooked that I finished the book in just two days (though, to be fair, I was on break too).

ABOUT THE CHARACTERS

╰┈➤ XAVIER CASTILLO

Xavier Castillo might just be my favorite Ana Huang man, this guy is literally every girl’s dream. I absolutely loved how deeply he loved Sloane and how he understood her in ways no one else ever did. He has my whole heart, and I completely get why everyone adores him. The way he expressed his emotions, showed incredible mental resilience, and genuinely worked on himself for her was nothing short of swoon-worthy. My man even watched romcoms with her, not because he loved them, but because she did. Bare minimum? Maybe. But the effort was so heart-melting, especially when he remembered little details like her hatred for walnuts and made sure to order food without them.
"I would give anything for her to feel a fraction of the same way toward me."

What truly stood out to me was his journey of growth. He faced his fear of failure head-on, took The Vault seriously, and proved that he could be hardworking and dedicated, not just to win the inheritance but to prove to himself that he could rise to the challenge. And honestly, the way Sloane supported him through it all made their dynamic even more beautiful. She was his rock, his biggest cheerleader, and she did everything to help him reach his full potential. Together, they were just perfection, two opposites bringing out the absolute best in each other.
“She’d obviously dressed with the intention of blending in, but she could no more blend into a crowd than a jewel could blend into mud.”

THIS MAN ISTG 🛐🛐

╰┈➤ SLOANE KENSINGTON

Sloane is me, and I am Sloane. Sloane Kensington, the woman, the myth, the legend. Honestly, she might be the sole reason I rated this book so highly! If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for a strong fmc, and Sloane was everything I could ever hope for and more. Not gonna lie, my expectations for her were pretty low at first because she was always portrayed as shy and quiet in the other books. I was intrigued, sure, but I fully expected another spineless fmc that would just piss me off. But nope, Sloane completely shattered my expectations and claimed her throne as my new favorite Ana Huang heroine. Sorry, Jules, but you’ve been officially dethroned.

What I loved most about Sloane was her emotional strength and resilience. She was considered icy by so many people, but let’s be real, how could someone be icy when they’d go out of their way to love and care for their stepsister, Penelope? Or feel completely heartbroken over the death of a pet fish? Sure, she was emotionally reserved, but that didn’t make her cold or unlovable. People also called her rude, and honestly, can you blame her? Her fiancé cheated on her with her own sister, Georgia, who had the audacity to flex that she was “the first choice.” Like, seriously, what is wrong with you, Georgia?
“I cared. More than cared. He made me feel everything when I’d thought I could feel nothing, and that realization led to an undeniable truth: I loved him, so much so that I couldn’t breathe, and I’d pushed him away because I knew love would only end in heartbreak.”

Anyways, Sloane was a queen through and through. Hardworking, dedicated, sassy, and unapologetically badass, she was everything I love in an FMC. Yes, she was a little closed off, but not everyone is a bubbly, smiley ball of sunshine all the time, and that’s okay. Let’s normalize being true to ourselves, even if that means setting boundaries and not taking anyone’s crap. Sloane was unapologetically herself, and I adored every single page she was on.
"But he wasn’t a random man; he was him, and the house felt so much more vibrant when he was there that I’d thrown caution to the wind and invited him over for the weekend."

FINAL THOUGHTS

I went into this book with very low expectations, especially after not enjoying the last two books in the series. But let me tell you, Ana Huang absolutely outdid herself with this one, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. The writing felt so smooth and effortless, making it such an easy and enjoyable read. Honestly, I ended up loving it way more than I ever thought I would. Xavier and Sloane? Literal perfection. They’ve officially claimed the top spot as my favorite Ana Huang couple ever.
"Now we lived together in a townhouse with a pet fish and a rooftop movie theater, and we were nauseatingly, disgustingly blissful."

What really stood out to me was how this book just had that vibe, it was fun, charming, and so full of heart that I couldn’t stop smiling. The banter, the chemistry, the emotional growth, it all came together beautifully. The story felt light and engaging, yet it had enough depth to keep me hooked from start to finish.

"Overall, if you’re in the mood for a book that’ll light up your face and make you giggle like a teenager crushing on their favorite fictional couple, this one is the perfect catch for you. Trust me, you’re going to have a blast with it!" 💌

QUOTES

"Why are you being so insistent about this?

Because I want you."

"Just shut up and follow me,”

“Yes, ma’am. I love a woman in charge.”

"You would rather watch a rom-com about a witch and a plumber falling in love than attend a costume party with celebrities?”

“One hundred percent. As long as I’m watching it with you.”

"Love isn’t about perfection, Luna; it’s about imperfect people creating their own version of happily ever after. And while I don’t know everything, I do know this: Every version of my happily ever after will always include some version of you."

"whenever i was drowning, she was my anchor in the storm.”

"luna is short for mi luna. my moon. because no matter how dark the nights got, you were always there, shining so brightly that i always found my way through"

"she was so fucking beautiful it almost hurt to look at her. i wondered if she knew that. i wondered if she knew how much she occupied my thoughts and how i counted down the minutes to seeing her again when we were apart. i wondered if i’d upended her life the way she had mine, to the point where the pieces no longer fit if she weren’t there, because she wasn’t a pit stop; she was the destination.”

"Beautiful, brilliant, and so damn caring beneath that mask you present to the world. You can try to hide it, but it’s too late. I’ve seen the real you, with all its perfect and broken pieces, and I love every single one of them.”

“In a world of black and white, she was my kaleidoscope.”

“It’s never too late for change. If you’re unhappy with the road you’re traveling, you can choose a new one at any time.”

“Three words, uttered countless times by countless people over the centuries. Yet coming from her, they had the power to bring me to my knees.”

❝I would give anything for her to feel a fraction of the same way toward me.❞

⤷ The trips, dinners, dimples, movie nights, late-night dancing, hugs, smiles, kisses, knee-touching, shoulder-grazing, pushing each other into a bush, being concerned for the other person, looking out for their needs, the understanding, the trust >>>

❝Why are you being so insistent about this?❞

❝Because I want you.❞

➳ I'm crying! This review will never do justice to this book, and i can't even explain how perfect this book is. It's literally the best book Ana has written, in my opinion! 😭 this had everything i always craved in a book, and it's so perfectly written! 🥺

➳ The characters are done justice, and I never thought this book would be my favorite in this series because I had the least expectations for this one. It has such a raw show of emotions, feelings, insecurities, equal amounts of tenderness, thoughtfulness, and love 💕

Xavier Castillo .𖥔 ݁ ˖

➳ Xavier is literally the love of my life now. i will never compare him with others because he has a special place in my heart. he's literally written so perfectly, like it's insane how in love i am with his character. he's so different from all of Ana's men. He's so selfless, a realist (love made him delusional) and so so kind. the previous books did justice to his 'party boy persona' BUT he was never a manwhore.

➳ He's funny, thoughtful, gentle, observant, and immediately understood Sloane. Never once did his pov have anything sexual or him jerking off or anything because he's attracted to her body. He literally fell in love with her because of her personality + including her flaws. He's calm, and I don't think it's mentioned ever that he shouted or said anything mean to anyone (well except that ONE hawttt scene, gonna mention). He's sincere, and I'm speechless 😭, I truly am because I'm legit so in love! 😩♥️ And his dimples aaahhhh okay, I'm down! BAD!

The rest of her (his aunt) sentence cut off with a shriek when I grabbed her by the front of her shirt and yanked her toward me. ❝Do not ever talk about my mother.❞

➳ Xav didn't deserve to be blamed by his father for his mother's death. the accidental fire was an accident, yet he blames his only son for it AND i hate his father. his traumas were so valid and he had every right opportunity to be a negative person YET, he never once blamed anyone or played victim card. he's neither malicious nor mean. he has such a pure heart 🥹♥️

❝You’re dating Sloane?❞
❝Yep, I chased her for months, but she finally agreed to go out with me.❞

description

Sloane Kensington .𖥔 ݁ ˖

➳ now i get the appeal as to why everyone loved the ice queen. she's so damn lovable, that it's hard to hate her. Sloane is the best King of Sin series girl for me rn just like xav, her parents and sister were so shit that they even disowned her. called her immature, emotionless and showed blatant favouritism to her sister. it's pathetic how they treated her. i love how independent and self confident she was that she cuts them off immediately.

her character is so relatable. thankfully she was aware of the third act breakup cliches and made communication her first priority! she did let her insecurities talk for a day or two and broke up, but thankfully she came to her senses (not that Xav left her alone lmao, istg he's stubborn asf). she's sassy, confident and the perfect match for Xavier.

❝Sloane Kensington, I like the way you think.❞

➳ loved how Xavier always tried to coax her out of her shell. the trip + his father's death did good for them and made them a lil closer. Xav was such a green flag ffs, he always figured out, what's going inside her head and communicated.he wouldn't drop a conversation even if his life depended on it 😭 and those scenes were so funny hajshsj she was always making him drop the topic but he would just NEVER.

The quick barbs and that playful banter were extremely cute. he's so obsessed that he took favours from Alex after he's unsuccessful in bribing her doorman! He's also the type to reassure you about something, and the next second, ask questions about it again. 😂

❝I’m sorry if I crossed the line the other night. If I truly made you uncomfortable, I’ll back off, but tell me the truth. Did you enjoy the kiss?❞ – 😩😂♥️

❝I didn’t want her. I needed her. Desperately.❞

description

➳ I'll just say, this book has the cutest scenes ever, they're so lighthearted and so minimal, but they're soothing and calming. The claw machine scene touched my heart!!! I was legit screaming when he bribed everyone to clear the traffic, and drove on the empty pavement, while holding her hand because a) her sister was in the hospital, b) HE CAN AFFORD THE FINE! and literally got a panic attack and banged her door because he thought that she might be hurt 🥺

my favourite are the bribing scenes 😂 both of them ALWAYS bribed the cab drivers to drive fastly lolol. like they were spending so many bucks randomly and were like 🤷🏻‍♀️ we're rich.

❝Now we lived together in a townhouse with a pet fish and a rooftop movie theater, and we were nauseatingly, disgustingly blissful.❞

YES, I'M DEFINITELY CRYING! 😭

from the bonus scene:
❝Like her? Are you kidding?❞ I gently scooped the puppy out of he box and held her close to my chest. ❝This is my daughter❞ — i swear i'm so emotional rn because this was just so so thoughful and beautiful. if you've read this book, you already know the significance of this scene 🥺 basically on the epilogue, xav gifted her a new fish because her previous one died AND she gifted him a chocolate poodle - the same breed of his previous pet. his reaction to it, made it so much better 😭

The List >> .𖥔 ݁ ˖

omg i loved the list of the most powerful people. the fact that Jules Ambrose was even there, *sobbing* i'm so fucking proud rn. 😌 like she's babygirl & she deserves the best. the others; vuk, christian harper, alex volkov, sebastian laurent, dominic davenport, and kai himself, are powerful though.

➳ The mentions of Rhys and baby Camila, Stella, and the other cameos were also cute. I mean, nothing is left out in this book like the previous books. The operation Perry Wilson was hilarious. It was so smooth with its cameos! And Alex in this book >>> 🤭

Asher and Vincent already got too much attention in this book so i'm just leaving them for the reviews of their own books! 🤭

And finally, no theories at all now, but I'm so happy Vuk and Ayana are getting their story next. I think Ayana's Indian (maybe)! And it's gonna be marriage-related or pining. 🥺

ROMAN DAVENPORT 🙏🏻 (he's gonna reveal this whole vault mystery)

king of sloth? ha! more like king of this p- anyways. black cat fmc and golden retriever mmc will always be the elite dynamic and i will go to war for this stance. all ten toes down type shit. Xavier, you make me want to carve out our initials into a tree. 😝

why were there more cameos in this book than a disney channel crossover episode? don’t get me wrong, i’m not complaining in the slightest. but good to know my pookies are alive and well and thriving. anyways, let me hyper fixate on this poet of a man, Xavier, for a minute. his descriptions of Sloan made me want to write them down using a quill pen. “her laugh, unlocked a rush of dopamine, like a song I heard once and loved, but never discovered the name of, only to stumble upon it again years later.” XAVIER YOU GOT IT LIKE THAT?!? i would lay my life down for this man. he was so fierce, protective, patient, and loving. my homies cannot know i fuck with him this hard. 😖

Sloane is me and i am her… afraid of commitment and heartbreak. but underneath all those shields of badassery is women worth moving mountains for. i loved how she put Xavier in his place every single time. saw through his bullshit and pretty much lassoed his ass. she was standing on business and looked hot while doing so. the leash she has on this man should be studied. i’d use myself as a human shield to guarantee her safety. to have a man who respected her mind, soul, and boundaries and to humbly support his powerful girlfriend..i might have shed a tear or seven. they deserve the world and to cut me a check for my emotional state. 😃🔫

the plot outside of the romance actually had my attention this time. the fact that they both came from tough love families. to Xavier kick starting his business. The relationship between Sloane’s little sister and Xavier🥹 i get what she meant when Sloane said her ovaries were shaking. as were mine for more reasons than one. lord i wanna run my hands through his hair, my teeth were scraping through tree bark.🫥

“I loved seeing her like this. Wild, uninhibited, and so damn beautiful that it made my heart ache.”

Finally, a good book in the KOS series! Honestly, I kind of gave up on this series after KOG, but Ana really surprised me with this book and Xavier and Sloane’s story. This book is totally different from what she usually writes, and I love how she’s experimenting with different characters and stories—ones that aren’t solely focused on romance but also on character growth and development. The storyline revolves around two things—Xavier and his new business venture, and their trial dating period. And somewhere in between, their attraction blossomed into love and something more.

“Just shut up and follow me,” I snapped, wishing I had a wittier reply.
“Yes, ma’am.” His cheeks dimpled. “I love a woman in charge.”

Sloane Kensington is independent, responsible, and intelligent. She’s the woman everyone fears—cool and composed, never overreacting in any situation. Except when it comes to Xavier. He made her go bonkers with his antics, lol. She hides behind the façade of an ice queen because it protects her from potential hurt, and her fears were justified—her ex was an absolute asshole, and both he and her family gave her serious trust issues. People said she didn’t feel emotions or care, but Sloane felt everything—she just didn’t express it like others. She needed someone who would love and accept her for who she was, and Xavier did exactly that. I loved how she didn’t hold herself back when he asked her to go on a trip, how he challenged her, pushed her out of her comfort zone, yet always made sure she felt safe. She was also giving me Jules vibes with her comebacks.

“You think you know me so well,” I whispered, even though he was right.
“Only parts of you.” The gentle brush of his thumb against my hand unlocked a colony of butterflies in my stomach. “But we’ll get there.”

Xavier Castillo is the epitome of a shameless flirt and effortless charm. But beneath all that is a man with raw vulnerability, scarred by his father’s treatment. I get why he was so stubborn and inconsiderate all these years, and I’m proud of him for finding his passion and working hard to make it a reality. He’s thoughtful and caring, and I love how much he paid attention to Sloane, he noticed everything about her. He’s so observant and stubborn when it comes to her. I fell for him in the very first chapter despite him being a playboy, and I liked that he wasn’t sexualising her every other moment like men in books usually do. Not once did he obsess over other women—Sloane was the only one who made him crazy and delusional. He’s so unhinged sometimes, always bribing people just to get to Sloane faster, but he’s also the sweetest, craziest person ever. The dates and outings he planned for her had me swooning so hard! He’s one of the best MMCs Ana has written and my favourite KOS series man. Period.

“You would rather watch a rom-com about a witch and a plumber falling in love than attend a costume party with celebrities?”
“One hundred percent. As long as I’m watching it with you.”

Xavier and Sloane are absolute perfection. The romance was executed so perfectly—it wasn’t insta-love or insta-lust. It was about getting to know each other, giving a chance to the attraction that had been simmering between them for three years, slowly warming up to each other, breaking down the barriers they had built around their hearts, and falling in love in the process. It was simple, cute, and beautiful. Xavier and Sloane have opposite personalities, yet in some ways, they share the same fears and insecurities. Both were deprived of love and affection by their parents, but they loved each other with their flaws, not despite them. The way Xavier encouraged Sloane to step outside her comfort zone, and how she supported him at every step of his new business venture, was so endearing.

“I don’t want a kiss or a one-night stand,” he said. “I want you. I want to know you outside work. I want to take you on real dates. And I don’t know if it’ll work out in the end, but I want us to at least try.”

The ice queen x sunshine trope was executed so well. I loved their trips, their witty banter, the sexual tension, the dates Xavier planned (which were everything a girl deserves from a man), the effort they put into understanding each other, how they truly listened to each other’s stories, and their love confessions. Xavier and Sloane are the softest couple Ana Huang has ever written.

“I needed her the way the ocean tides needed the moon, and I would give anything for her to feel a fraction of the same way toward me.”

I loved Ana’s writing in this one; she included so many cameos from previous books, and my heart was full of happiness and nostalgia. This book also has some of the best love declarations at the end, and as unrealistic and dreamy as they were, my romantic heart loved every second of it. I loved how raw and relatable the characters were, watching them grow and step outside their comfort zones.

The ending was the cutest! I seriously cried because I was so happy for these two idiot dorks. The third-act breakup was unnecessary as always—it’s Ana, so she had to throw it in. I would’ve loved for the mystery behind The Vault’s fire to be explained, but maybe it was left open for a future book.

I really can’t wait for Ayana and Vuk’s book! I have a thing for broken, tortured heroes, so I already know I’m going to love it.

“Love isn’t about perfection, Luna; it’s about imperfect people creating their own version of happily ever after.”

I am not going to write a detailed review for this because I honestly don't have much to say. This was better than pride and greed but not as good as wrath. I don't know how to describe this but writing style for KOW and KOG was very easy to read and had you entertained but for this and pride it wasn't like that I often found myself getting bored but the characters and the plot actually kept up so I did not mind it that much. I had problems but I still enjoyed it.

Xavier was amazing to read and Sloane was so different maybe that why I liked her so much, I also loved how we explored a lot of their past which made me like their characters a lot and they also didn't do anything to frustrate you so that was a plus. Sloane's relationship with Pen was so cute and Xavier going out of his way to arrange meeting between them was also so wholesome. I also liked how Xavier paid attention to Sloane and learned everything about her. I liked the moments between them but I wasn't in love with them and the spice (I cant believe im saying this) wasn't that spicy.

This book was easily the most plotty. There were some moments that were just so good especially that will scene. I was more happy with the plot than I was with the romance because I wanted to see what happens and how Xavier might handle things, was also intrigued by the vault and the mysteries revolving around it which was all just so interesting. Also that one interaction b/w Xavier and his Aunt, AHH I have never been more satisfied.

We got cameos of Alex, All the KOS girls, Kai and mentions of Jules, Bridget, Rhys, Ava, Christian and Dante I might be missing some...so this was filled with it and I think moving forward in terms of plot there will definitely be more of these Cameos and honestly I enjoyed them.

Overall in terms of plot and characters I would say this book was a solid 4 but it didnt quite deliver on the romance aspect as much as I was expecting it to so I had to lower my rating. The series is improving a lot tho and I am very excited for book 5!

no because with peace and love, miss ana huang really said “i heard you b*tches mumbling and cackling about my heroes being too similar, here’s xavier”

and she ate y’all up 🤭 i’ve never met an AH hero i didn’t like (except alex for like 10 chapters in twisted love) but xavier is giving golden retriever, lackadaisical playboy, but obsessive and possessive billionaire.

he’s the irresponsible heir to his billionaire father’s empire and fortune but has to be babysat by his uptight, “ice queen” publicist sloane. when his father’s health takes a turn for the worse, they’re forced together more than ever.

there is just SOMETHING about the way xavier didn’t care about anything, work, his reputation, his family, his family business, etc. but took the time to notice her favorite foods on different occasions, the way she takes her coffee, the way she dresses. like give me a man who HAS BEEN down bad for years!!!

and you guys know, i will defend an ice queen, grumpy girl who’s become a cold badass to protect herself until i die and sloane is no exception!!! she was so funny, witty, and layered. and these two just understood each other on a level like no other!!!

rhys larsen is my man my MAN but… this might be favorite ana huang book 🫢

i don’t care. nothing in me cares. this really could just be the slump talking, but this honestly felt so different from ana’s usual books. the love interest wasn’t swoony, the “ice queen” has been done so many times already, and even the smut was not smutty. whatsoever. it wasn’t even hot like bro be good for SOMETHING at least 😭 sigh

whenever i was drowning, she was my anchor in the storm.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ just when i lost all my hopes for this series, ana huang published king of sloth and threw it at my face and told me, "here you go, bitch." (ok, she didn't, but like still.) after reading king of pride and king of greed, i was literally in the deepest depths of hell and had no intention of picking this book up, but i'm so weak for the reverse sunshine trope that i couldn't help myself.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ sloane kensington is a publicist. to her elite clients, she's known for her stern demeanor and cold, frigid facade. however, she's intelligent, levelheaded, composed, efficient, and t‎remendously independent. but she hides behind this ice-queen demeanor to protect herself, and her insecurity makes her more relatable to readers and establishes this layer of complexity to her character. especially since she can be protective, funny, and extremely fierce when it counts.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ xavier castillo is known to the world as the epitome of debauchery with his billionaire playboy persona. like sloane, underneath the illusion he desperately hides behind, xavier is a man who's vulnerable at his core and tender when it matters. he's extremely thoughtful and observant. even before their trial dating thing happened, when he was supposed to be nothing but this reckless and irresponsible heir, he cared enough to pay attention to sloane and remember her likes and dislikes. bro, i can barely get any guy to give me an ounce of attention xavier gives sloane. i love how multi-faceted he is and how we get to explore the different depths of his character throughout the novel.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ and the cameos? it was absolutely delicious to read about all the past characters, like my babies are chasing after their happily ever afters. i love that for them.

₊˚꒰ 🌨️ ꒱ ⊹ ii. romance. ₊˚⊹ ꒱
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ what i loved the most was the slow pace of their romance. the subtle build of it allowed them a chance to know one another, to discover the intricacies that make up their distinct personalities and the flaws that shaped them to become the people that they are. this book was definitely more gritty in terms of plot, but i personally don't mind it as much. it only makes the characters more layered and provides them with the makings of a great character profile.

─〝 every version of my happily ever after will always include some version of you.

₊˚꒰ 🦋༘ ꒱ ⊹ iii. conclusion. ₊˚⊹ ꒱
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ overall, this novel, with all its moments, turned me into such a giddy mess. i definitely enjoyed reading it. i appreciate the longer length of this book, however, i don't think it beats king of wrath in any way. i have bias and i stand strong in my bias for dante, but i love xavier too, so don't get me wrong. i adore the adorable moments in this book, so i can definitely have multiple ana huang mmc obsessions.

ੈ♡˳ rating: five outta five

ੈ♡˳ thoughts:
if ana huang has zero fans left, that means i am dead. i will always read her books, i will (almost) always enjoy them. this one is no different. i think what made this a 5 star book was the fact that it was actually different from many of her other books. they’re all billionaire romances, but this one felt different. xavier felt different. the backstory with his mother literally almost made me shed some tears. i felt like both the hero and the heroine were more complex than many of her others.

one of my favorite things was waiting her incorporate all of her past heroes in this book, including the ones from the twisted series. welcome back christian harper.

and whew the set up for vuk’s book was 10/10, i’m so excited for that.

I didn’t want her. I needed her. Desperately.

This book was everything and more. Xavier is the definition of the greenest flag ever and i love him. Sloane is a bad bitch and i’ll defend her with my life.

I wish we got some more of Sloane standing up against her family, bc they did her dirty.

3.0☆

lord i have seen what you have done for others 😭 do it for me too 🙏

i thought this was gonna be my second favorite after king of wrath but it wasn't and that okay. it was still a refreshing read tho. golden retriever mmc and grumpy fmc is the otp i didn't know i needed.

sloane was such a well-rounded character, cause as someone who grew up in a messy family, i understood her struggles in my bones. her fears felt like my own. at times, reading her pov felt like reading my own diary. and she is so lucky 😝 it not every day we end up with our hot and strong 6 foot something pussy pleaser and thoughtful client that worships the ground you walk on. takes you on a vacation just to cheer you up and notices every little thing about you including the fact that you hate walnuts in your foods. like stay away from me Sloane; i'll fuck your man‼️👺 do you know how luck you are?! 🤨

and i want to curl my hands in Xavier's hair! not only was he witty, patient, kind and thoughtful. his descriptions of Sloane made me feel like i was standing near sunlight. "she was so fucking beautiful it almost hurt to look at her. i wondered if she knew that." #wishhewasreal

their love is a reminder that real love isn’t flawless—it’s the willingness to embrace each other’s imperfections and love anyway

now, i'm only giving this 3.0☆ cause aside from all the lovey-dovey heart wrenching moments, i was not interested of the plot outside the romance at all. like the whole CEO drama and trying to open a business? yeah, i didn't care🥱🫥. i'm already taking business class right now and i could've just opened my textbook if i want to know how stock marketing works.

i have this quote tattooed in my brain

“The greatest gift we have is time. Use it wisely.”

4.5 stars! ⭐️

My favorite one in the series so far!

Xavier Castillo, the man that you are!!! 😮‍💨 I was giggling my way through this!!

I had a feeling that I was going to love this one the most because I loved Sloane throughout this series. I’m so happy her book did not disappoint!

This was giving 5 stars but it dragged out a bit toward the end for me so giving it 4.5 stars instead! I also feel like every book in this series has a major conflict or drama at the same point in each one. It’s like I know it’s coming around 70% of the way through so it’s kinda annoying, predictable, and unnecessary. But still enjoyed it so much and can’t wait to start the next book! Vuk and Ayana made a few appearances in this one and I know their story is going to be good!!

My current rankings and ratings of the series!

1. 𝒦𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝑜𝒻 𝒮𝓁𝑜𝓉𝒽 - 4.5 stars
2. 𝒦𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝑜𝒻 𝒫𝓇𝒾𝒹𝑒 - 4 stars
3. 𝒦𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝑜𝒻 𝒢𝓇𝑒𝑒𝒹 - 3.5 stars
4. 𝒦𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝑜𝒻 𝒲𝓇𝒶𝓉𝒽 - 3 stars

🌟4.5 stars 🌟

The pace was great from beginning to end, their chemistry was so on point, and the fact all the characters from the Twisted series and King of Sin series were sort of involved in the story made it 10 times better! Xavier's made his way to my top 10 book boyfriend list, so you know I'm not even JOKING about how much I enjoyed reading about them.

I don't even know how to explain this, but Sloane's personality literally mirrored mine, how is that even possible, I felt like I was reading about myself at some point. ( except the fact she comes from high society blah blah OBVIOUSLY )

The spicy scenes were written AMAZING as always because she knows what she is writing unlike many others that I'm not going to mention lol ! Not me throwing shade👀, anywayyyy , if you haven't decided to continue this series or even start it, hopefully this review helps you decide!

9/10 for the audiobook. The male narrator (Gregory Salinas) was perfect with all respect to
female narrator, the narration felt emotionless just sometimes!

Xavier Castillo .. the man that you are🧎‍♀️

im a sucker for reverse grumpy/sunshine, so the minute Xavier stepped on the page with his consideration, dimples and sweet demeanor i was done for. Sloane is seen as an ice queen due to the fact that she doesn’t show emotions the way people expect her to and it was so nice to see Xavier bring her comfort enough to realize that it’s okay to be herself. he’s the true definition of fictional cause this man is perfect.

”Luna is short for mi luna. My moon. Because no matter how dark the nights got, you were always there, shining so brightly that I always found my way through.”

if my rating was purely based on how much i loved Xavier it would be a 5 star, but the way Sloane kept pushing Xavier away despite him going above and beyond to reassure her got on my last nerve towards the end. to be honest, i wasn’t paying attention to the plot either.. i was too busy googling how to transfer myself into this book so i could snatch Xavier for myself. i enjoyed the push and pull between the characters though and thought they complimented eachother well. it was also cute seeing Sloane interact with her little sister. this book was different from Ana’s usual dynamics and i really appreciated that— this one is definitely up there next to Twisted Lies for me.

“Whenever I was drowning, she was my anchor in the storm.”
I read this in one sitting because I knew I would not pick it back up if I put it down. This did not need to be over 450 pages.

Pros
• I enjoyed seeing and hearing about so many characters from the author's different books.

Cons
• I didn't expect so much family drama. I can't stand family drama, especially if at some point some of the crappy family is forgiven in a way. (SLIGHT SPOILER) Like in the epilogue, it said she was doing therapy with them. And the drama just felt unnecessary. I found myself rolling my eyes and getting so annoyed at the fmc’s family.
• The characters got together way too soon considering how long the book was. I felt like there was not enough build-up. It just kind of happened.
• I didn't like the mmc at all. I don't understand how a grown man, about to hit 30 years old, acts like a brat and parties and sleeps around so much. I don't find it attractive. And I get he had “character growth”, but I am so over the “I was a playboy but then I screw you” trope. I can’t even say “but then I met you” in this situation. ⇩
• They have worked together for around 3 years and the fmc has had to clean up his messes with the public and had to deal with his attitudes. I get that he has trauma and daddy issues, but I am so tired of it. It just isn't an excuse anymore in my opinion.
• The fmc was labelled as “ice queen” and “cold”, but I just feel like she wasn't. I didn't get that vibe. I felt like sometimes she let certain people in her family walk all over her in a way. I get she had the last “laugh”, but there were so many situations where I wanted her to leave the situation or punch someone. I felt like we were told she was someone who didn't “feel”, but every chapter was saying how she did feel and how sad or tired she was about stuff. Considering the fmc “doesn't cry” she sure had a lot of moments where she was about to.

Upcoming books in the series
I do plan on reading the rest of the series. I am very excited about the next book with Vuk😚. But I am worried the quality is decreasing with this series😬.

Here we go.

I’m not even gonna go ahead and summarise this story because I have no clue what I read. Ana Huang has been one of my favourite authors and I appreciate her however this was absolute garbage. I would like to know who passed this book idea because she did not execute it.

Her writing is terrible, the smut is disastrous & let’s not start talking about the couple. Was the chemistry in the room with us? Because I feel I have more chemistry with Xavier than Sloane had and I’m the one reading the damn book.

I only loved the cameos especially from Alex. Guessing the future couples was fun too because I got it now. But that’s literally it.

Ana, I see what you tried to do however this is not my cup of tea at all. I wish you all the best in publishing better written books with better plots.
