Hirohiko Araki ( 荒木飛呂彦) is a Japanese manga artist. He left school before graduation from Miyagi University of Education.

He enjoys the baseball manga Kyojin No Hoshii (Star of the Giants); the video games Mario Kart and Bomberman; and likes Prince and other African-American singers, as well as jazz, rock, and rap.

He is a recipient the Tezuka Award for manga.

Continua il mio rapporto altalenante con SBR. Da un lato ho parecchio apprezzato il ritmo di questo capitolo: sia la parte con J. Lo, Johnny e Hot Pants vs Roadagain, sia la parte con Lucy e Mountain Tim – le loro interazioni sono state brevi ma le ho amate da impazzire.

Hot Pants mi piace tantissimo e abbiamo appena cominciato a sfiorare la superficie del suo personaggio e il suo Stand è molto particolare. Dall'altro lato purtroppo trovo l'onnipresenza di J. Lo un po' stancante. Non è un brutto personaggio, anzi, e apprezzo il suo percorso di crescita però è palese che Araki si sia molto focalizzato sul suo sviluppo, a discapito degli altri personaggi. La lotta fra lui e Roadagain mi è molto piaciuta, era molto ben strutturata ma è un fatto che Araki abbia messo appositamente fuori gioco Johnny e Hot Pants, per mettere J.Lo spalle al muro e costringerlo a reagire. Finora SBR mi sembra seguire uno schema molto simile agli shonen classici, da cui JOJO si è bene o male sempre sottratto, in cui ogni battaglia e ogni personaggio sono al servizio del protagonista, che è l'unico a evolvere, ad avere una motivazione davvero strutturata e ad avere l'ultima parola in ogni battaglia. Spero che questa onnipresenza di J.Lo si smorzi un po', perché personaggi come Johnny, Diego e Hot Pants meritano decisamente più spazio e autonomia.
