This was written by a local author that I met at a local bookstore.
This is the story of Tessa, a 40 year old woman who had given up on love when her parents died decades before and she was left to raise her younger sister. On a dare, she dances with a younger man who had always liked her. One thing leads to another as things do in romance novels.
I enjoyed the story. It wasn’t typical with the two main characters having an age gap and differences in race and socioeconomic status. It was nice to watch it play out.
Romance is not my normal genre of choice. But, I can't resist a book with well-crafted female characters. Tessa and her friends felt like a breath of fresh air, something light and fun to brighten up the darkness of winter.
Tamani Wooley created her female protagonists with loving care, and it shows through all their interactions and how they take care of one another. In fact, I kind of feel like they're my friends, and I am thrilled to know I'll see them again as Tamani continues with her series.
4⭐️ Read this for a coworker’s book club and to support the author’s first book. All I can say is, HOLY COW BE PREPARED!!! This book is 🌶️ as all heck, and it was hard to put down. Can’t wait to see what’s next in store! Also, it was an absolute honour and pleasure to meet Tamani and be able to get some insight on the book 🫣🌶️
I think Tamani Wooley is off to a good start with this first book of her Dare series. These are characters I want to know more about and want to see her continue to develop over time. This is a romance that touches upon the fear and doubt we all have when opening up to love.
instant pull in and not wanting to put it down. had me in tears a few times. great story of troubles in relationships. Definitely cant wait to read more.
A romance with plenty of obstacles. Tessa's childhood swears her off love, then she thinks she finds love. But can she really know love? And can she really trust love? This is a well written novel. Steamy. Really steamy.
