Chasing Stars

Rate this book
Miles Corbin lives his life on his own terms. A successful real estate agent by day, and a surfer Casanova by night, Miles lives every day like it’s his last. Scarred by his recent divorce, Miles prefers to keep love at arm’s length. He’d much rather chase thrills in the ocean over risking love again. That is until Jenna Rossi walks into his life.

When Jenna Rossi inherits her family's neglected beach house in Cape May, New Jersey, she plans to sell it quickly and move on with her life. But charming property manager Miles Corbin has other ideas. As he helps her navigate necessary repairs, he also becomes her personal tour guide through the tranquil beach town’s romantic charm, determined to give her even more reasons to stay.

As their new friendship blossoms, deeper feelings begin to take root. Miles hasn’t opened his heart again since his divorce, but something about Jenna makes him want to take a chance. Jenna swears she doesn’t need a white knight, nor does she want one, but Miles’ thoughtfulness and guidance has her dropping her guard and falling hard.

But just when they’re settling into the idea of forever, a secret from the past threatens to tear them apart for good—one that connects them in ways neither could have imagined.

Set against the backdrop of Cape May's close-knit community, Chasing Stars is a heartfelt romance about finding the courage to love again after loss, and discovering that home isn't always a place—sometimes it's a person.

4.5 stars - In Chasing Stars, Linny Mack brings readers a heartfelt and emotional romance set against the nostalgic charm of Cape May.

Jenna returns to her childhood summer home after the death of her mother, with plans to sell the long-abandoned house. Grieving and unsure of her next steps after years spent caring for her mom, Jenna finds herself overwhelmed by memories and a house that's fallen into disrepair.

Enter Miles, a charming, slightly jaded real estate agent and local known for his flirtatious ways. Recently divorced and carrying his own emotional baggage, Miles is instantly intrigued when he meets Jenna. Offering to help with repairs on the property, he becomes more than just a handyman. He becomes a steady presence Jenna didn’t know she needed.

As they spend time fixing up the house, Jenna and Miles slide into a flirtatious friends-to-maybe-something-more dynamic. With forced proximity thanks to the fixer-upper, late-night beach conversations, and a lovable dog named Pete, their connection deepens. Familiar faces from Cape May round out the cast, adding warmth and richness to the story.

Chasing Stars is a tender story of healing old wounds and finding love when you least expect it. Don’t miss Jenna and Miles’ journey as they navigate grief, growth, and the possibility of a beautiful future together.

Chasing Stars is the second book in Linny Mack’s Cape May series and it was such a treat!

First, we have to talk about the cameos from Sophie and Liam *swoon!* I loved getting another glimpse into their lives, and it did not disappoint.

This time, we follow Jenna and Miles, and their story was everything I hoped for. Miles is the ultimate golden retriever character oh and did I mention he surfs? *Swoons again.*

Linny Mack beautifully captures the charm of Cape May in the fall, making this the perfect book to curl up with on a chilly, rainy day while dreaming of the beach. Ultimately, Chasing Stars is like a spicy Hallmark movie wrapped in a warm hug, and I devoured every page.

Chasing Stars hits shelves on September 16th. Don’t miss this one!

Thank you for the advanced copy, all opinions are my own.

I absolutely loved Chasing Stars! From the very first chapter, I was hooked. The writing is beautiful and effortless, the story flows so naturally that I felt like I was living right alongside the characters. It gave me all the warm, cozy fall vibes, the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to curl up with a blanket and read straight through.

The characters were so real and endearing that it felt like I was part of their friend group, sharing their ups and downs. Every moment pulled me deeper into their world, and I couldn’t put the book down. Captivating, heartfelt, and full of charm, this is easily a 5-star read that I’ll be recommending to everyone.

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to read book two in Linny Mack’s series that takes place in Cape May, one of my favorite places. Jenna returns to town after the death of her mother to sell the family home. Enter Miles, the handsome divorced real estate manager. Instant attraction ensues, but a tragic secret from the past threatens to end this sweet love story. This was a perfect read with end of summer and fall vibes in a most charming setting. Thanks to Netgalley and Page and Vine for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Just so thankful for this beautiful story and read. Such a sweet story and I loved the characters so much. This is the kind of book that when it ends you don’t want it to finish. I sit in it for a moment and just sit in the story for a bit before acknowledging yes it’s over. But I feel it with me still. Like I’m carrying the characters and story in my heart. Loved this second book and can’t wait for the next!!

I was so excited to be back in Cape May! I love this town so much. This book was like a warm, cozy hug. Jenna's dealing with the loss of her mom. She comes back to Cape May after figuring out they still owned their family home that they left back in 1997. She plans to sell it and get out of town but the house is not in the best shape so it isn't that easy. Miles is the real estate agent that is helping her. They have instant chemistry and attraction. It's definitely kind of an insta-love situation for them but Miles wants to take it slow to make sure it's real. I loved the twist and it seems like fate had a plan for them all along.

This one deals with parental loss so be mindful of your triggers. I do feel like it was handled very well though. I unfortunately have experienced that myself so I could relate so much to Jenna's grief. Chasing stars is an emotional charged, beautiful love story filled with healing, forgiveness and don't forget the spice!

Chasing Stars releases September 16. Thanks so much to Page & Vine for this ARC.

Thank you to Page & Vine and Linny Mack for the advanced reader's copy of "Chasing Stars". This title will be published on September 16, 2025.

4.5 stars, rounded up to 5 stars.

LINNY HAS DONE IT AGAIN. To be honest, I wasn't sure she was going to be able to top my love for "Changing Tides", but I was SO wrong. This book already has a special place in my heart.

This book follows Miles (MMC), a local business owner who has recently divorced and Jenna (FMC), a woman who has recently discovered her late mother left her a house in Cape May, NJ. Jenna goes to Cape May to inspect this house that she hasn't seen in 20+ years, only to run into Miles, whose family company is managing her property. The two take part in a whirlwind romance, but what if Miles is holding onto something that will break her heart?

Listen, I know this isn't a thriller book, its obviously a small town romance, but my jaw was literally on the floor about halfway through this book. I would have NEVER been able to predict the connection between the two characters past. PLOT TWIST. I normally can snuff things like this out a mile away, but I sure didn't, and it made me SO HAPPY!! Well done, Linny!

This book deals with themes of parental loss, so be aware before diving in. (Though, I feel like it's handled very delicately and written very well)

At this point, I will read anything Linny writes. If you're looking for a small town romance with characters you can relate to, this book is for you! I loved that Jenna was in her mid thirties and Miles was in his early forties. It was such a great change of pace!

I can't wait for the final book in the series to come out and I can't believe I have to wait until next year to read it!!

And side note - the dog in this stories name is Pete and my dog growing up was named Pete. **Cue the tears**

PICK THIS BOOK UP Y'ALL!

Welcome back to Cape May!
It’s an incredible setting, and I absolutely loved being back with the characters Linny Mack introduced in her debut, Changing Tides. A whole new season 🍁 brings a new beginning for our MCs, Miles and Jenna.
Okay, I’ll admit it: I was not a Miles fan after Changing Tides. So when I found myself warming to him less than a quarter into Chasing Stars… let’s just say, Linny Mack is a master of character development. The growth is real.
Jenna, on the other hand, has been hit with every hard knock life can throw at her—loss of a parent, job gone, a money pit of an inheritance, and a harsh reminder that bangs are rarely the answer (iykyk). She’s real, relatable, and exactly the kind of character I connect with.
Linny’s writing pulls me in every time. Her characters feel like friends, her settings feel like places I’ve been, and her storytelling hits all the right notes. With a beautiful twist of fate and so much heart, I was hooked from page one.
✨ Dive in. Meet Miles and Jenna. You won’t regret it.
Linny Mack is quickly cementing her place as an auto-buy author for me.

📖 Huge thanks to the author and publisher for the ARC — all thoughts are my own!

I loved returning to Cape May with the story of Miles and Jenna. This book was very raw and emotional. We get sad moments, funny moments, fluffy moments, heartbreaking moments, and the coziness of a beach town read set in the fall.

Jenna suffered great loses in her life and coming back to Cape May after over 2 decades stirred a lot of her suffering from when she was a young girl. We see her deal with her grief, feeing all alone, and how everything is so overwhelming. We also get Miles dealing with his own past, the choices he has made, and his own pain.

They realized they got something they never expected to find, even when they had to deal with mistakes, grief, secrets, heartbreak, and revelations to get there. They found each other under the stars and riding the waves.

It was destiny. The author knows how to write such emotional books and deep characters that make you connect with them.

Thank you NetGalley and Page & Vine for the advanced copy. This is my honest opinion.

Oh Linny Mack I love you! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this as an ARC.

I’m giving this one 4.5🌟 because I loved Changing Tides sooooo much no one will top Liam and Sophie for me 🩵

This is book 2 in the Cape May series and follows Jenna and Miles. Jenna returns to her family beach house that’s been abandoned for decades after the passing of her mom. Miles is the property manager that’s been handling the abandoned house all these years after his father retires from the family business.
These 2 have instant chemistry but both are struggling with things from their past. I won’t put any spoilers here so you will have to read it for yourself!

If you love a beach read this one is the beach town in the off season which as a Jersey girl I have to say is the BEST time to live at the Jersey shore!

Can’t wait to see who we meet in book 3!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(4.5/5) Chasing Stars by Linny Mack! This book releases September 16, 2025!

Let me start off by staying, thank you Linny for trusting me with your book, I absolutely loved it!💜💜

Chasing Stars is the second book in the Cape May series, and it did not disappoint. Linny writes the most adorable romances! The FMC and MMC are older and come with some baggage, which makes them truly perfectly imperfect. She presents the town of Cape May in the most charming way, and truly makes you feel like you are there.

I am absolutely obsessed with Miles, he is so absolutely perfect MMC, with huge golden retriever energy. And Jenna is so sweet, has a huge heart, and left me truly wanting more!

I highly recommend you add the Cape May series to your TBR, they are the perfect cozy read!

ARC review time! Thank you so much, Linny for the chance to read early! I loved Jenna & Miles story so much! I love how authentic these characters feel. Their love felt very kismet. 😍 It was so fun to watch them go from strangers to lovers. I also just absolutely adore the town & people of Cape May. I love that we got to say hi to some of the characters from the last book. This is one of my favorite aspects of series! Getting to revisit characters we already fell in love with. I cannot wait to see what Linny has in store for us next! 🤩

2.75** I didn’t mind this book but it had more potential than what came to be. The characters acted quite immature in certain instances and felt way more like instalove than anything deep or meaningful. Just seemed to jump into the next thing without really diving into anything.

Miles Corbin is a successful real estate agent who lives life like he’s invincible. At the moment, surfing is the one thing that keeps his mind at bay. Miles is recently divorced and is scarred by that to let any type of love close to him. Jenna Rossi has been through a lot. She recently lost her mother and found out she inherited a house in Cape May that she thought was sold a long time ago. When she finds that this house is in shambles, her quick turnaround time of fixing and selling doesn’t work out so well. Miles, the kind property manager of her house, helps her out with repairs and at the same time, gets to show her the beautiful beach town of Cape May through his eyes. Will both Miles and Jenna be able to put their walls down and see that the love they’re looking for could be right in front of them?

I could not get enough of Miles! He's absolutely your next book boyfriend! There were some topics in this book that were heavy-hitting and I could feel the emotions in my bones.

Miles and Jenna were definitely a couple that needed to grow separately before they could grow together and I love that in a story. It shows the importance of how to communicate and character growth.

I really enjoyed Changing Tides, but I think I liked this one even more. I loved all of the little nods to the beautiful beach town of Cape May and that we get to continue to see all of the great friendships that are displayed throughout this series!!

Tropes:
- property manager x seller
- small beach town
- found family
- a secret from the past (with a twist!)
- romantic beach nights
- surfing instruction

I loved Miles and Jenna’s story! It was so endearing and heartwarming! I cried, I laughed (looking at you bone daddy) and swooned. Jenna picking up the pieces after a tragedy goes back to Cape May only to run into Miles hot surfer, property manager, and Cape May Casanova. From there things just fly, I loved seeing Jenna work through her insecurities and grow. Miles, oh sweet and swoony Miles. I loved seeing him grow and overcome his fears when it came to commitment. Finding the right person makes everything easier. Also that twist had me crying. Thank you Linny and page and vine for the ARC!

A big thank you to Linny Mack and Page & Vine for this arc! I was so excited to return to Cape May for Miles and Jenna’s story after meeting Miles in Changing Tides (Cape May series book 1).

Miles is a successful property manager by day and swoony surfer by night chasing the adrenaline rush of the next big wave. After his recent divorce, Miles is content with his bachelor lifestyle…well that is until he bumps into Jenna Rossi. After having not been back to her family’s summer home in Cape May for 25 years, Jenna returns to begin her healing journey after enduring a loss that has left her lost and alone. Upon returning she is faced with the daunting challenge of renovating her abandoned childhood summer home. Overwhelmed at the thought of restoring the house alone, Jenna begins to accept help from a certain property manager with an infinity for surfing!

While both are hesitant to open up their hearts again, Jenna and Miles cant ignore the connection between them that feels a little like fate. When a secret from the past resurfaces and connects the two of them in a way neither could ever imagine, their relationship is put to the test!

I loved this heartfelt story that explored the intricacies of loss, healing, and a second chance at love. It made me laugh, cry, and believe in the magic of fate and finding “your person”. This one may also leave you wanting to sport some new summer bangs or take those surfing lessons you always wanted to try, but either way, it will leave your heart full and your soul happy.

Chasing Stars comes out September 16 and reminds us that “home isn’t always a place, sometimes, it’s a person.”

Chasing Stars is a beautifully written, heartfelt story about second chances, healing, and the magic of finding love when you least expect it.

The journey of Miles and Jenna is one that truly touched my heart. Both are carrying the weight of past hurts. Miles with his heartbreak and guarded heart after divorce, and Jenna with her losses and struggles as she inherits her family’s beach house. I hesitate to call them “broken,” because Linny Mack shows so clearly that they are whole on their own, but together, they bring out the best in each other, finding a sense of healing and belonging that feels so real and moving.

This book made me laugh, it made me tear up, and it completely swept me away in the cozy charm of Cape May. There’s a twist of fate in this story that completely surprised me (and I won’t spoil it here!), but it added such depth and emotion to Miles and Jenna’s journey.

I also loved the cameos from Sophie and Liam (from Changing Tides)...it felt like a little reunion with old friends while diving into a whole new love story.

Linny Mack’s writing is so immersive and natural. She has a gift for creating characters who feel like people you’d meet in real life, with struggles, quirks, and resilience that make them unforgettable.

If you’re looking for a book with small-town charm, emotional depth, and a romance that’s equal parts tender and passionate, Chasing Stars is one you don’t want to miss. Linny Mack has cemented herself as an author I’ll keep coming back to, and I can’t wait to see where the Cape May series goes next.

The second book in The Cape May series is focused on Miles, a local property manager, and Jenna, a grief-stricken daughter who returns to Cape May after finding out about her family’s abandoned beach house. Their connection is instant and Miles is an acts of service king, doing anything that Jenna needs of him. Jenna’s own personal growth was admirable throughout the story and not only was she dealing with the grief of recently losing her mother, she also was newly single & newly unemployed in this beach town that she figured she was never returning to.

Their romance was definitely insta-love and I’m usually not a fan of this microtrope, but it makes sense given their underlying connection due to the twists of fate you learn about in the latter half of the book. However, I did find Jenna’s character to me immature in some situations; I think that’s because I’m lucky enough that I can’t relate to the grief she was experiencing. Just like Linny’s first novel, the side characters really add such a special touch to the story. Pete, Miles’ boxer reminded me so much of my own dog and Aunt Leona was the stereotypical Italian Aunt during the holidays, something that I can definitely relate to!

If you’re looking for a book to transition you from summer into the holiday months, this one is the perfect book for you! The beachy vibes of The Jersey Shore were perfect with the surfing lessons and the healing powers of the beach.

Finally a romance novel where the characters are in my age range. Now don’t come for me I love the modern romance novels but it’s so refreshing to read one with characters between the age of 35-40.

Chasing Stars is the second book in the Cape May series. Which I’m about to shame my own self. I had no idea this was part of a series. But boy am I glad it is because I got to meet book one’s main characters in the sequel and after finishing I can’t wait to go back and read their story. Linny Mack is a fantastic author. She truly wrote one of the most captivating romance stories I’ve read in a while. Take my advice do not start this if you have important things to do. Because this book will immediately pull you in and won’t let you go until you finish the story.

Like I mentioned I love that both the MMC & FMC are older and with that comes with baggage. However, the baggage they have is extremely relatable. Their story reminds us that it’s ok to be imperfect and it’s ok to ask for help. Miles was the perfect golden retriever hero. And Jenna was our perfect storm cloud. Brining these two together as cheesy as it sounds was like watching a rainbow appear after a storm.

Overall, I thoroughly recommend this book and can’t wait to pick up a trophy copy when it releases later this fall. Thank you to NetGalley & Page & Vine publishing for allowing me to read and review an ARC

Thank you so incredibly much to the author, Page and Vine and LuvBooks for the #gifted book!🫶🏻

What a beautiful second installment in the Cape May series! I loved returning to this small town and seeing all the characters from the previous book make an appearance and follow along with Jenna and Miles!

Jenna is such an independent woman. I found a lot of myself in her character. She had been through so much emotional trauma through her life that it had me rooting for her to truly find peace and somewhere she felt safe.

Miles is such an outgoing, fun MMC. I really adored his character and his kindness in consistently recognizing that Jenna needed a break and someone to take care of her. He was unapologetically DOWN for Jenna and it had me giggling and kicking my feet. 🤭

Together, the chemistry between Jenna and Miles was palpable from the pages. I enjoyed watching their story play out and all the mystery and true fate that transpired between them! The author does such an amazing job of painting the picture of Cape May and truly capturing the beauty in the landscape as well as the small town, family feel with all the characters involved.

I would highly recommend to all my book besties who enjoy a beautiful small town vibe, age gap and my favorite found family!

CHASING STARS is a later in life, small town romance taking place in the beach town of Cape May, NJ. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. Thank you @linnymackwrites @pageandvinebooks and @luvbooksclub for the #gifted book.

Jenna Rossi was dumped by her cheating boyfriend, lost her job as an interior design assistant and just buried her mother. She feels like she is not enough and not sure what to do next. She learns she has inherited the neglected family beach house. The house is full of memories but she plans to sell it and move on.

Miles Corbin is a flirtatious, handsome recently divorced real estate agent who loves to surf and is carrying his own emotional baggage. When he meets Jenna to help her with the repairs and sell the house, they both feel the attraction. The friendship turns into something more but a secret from the past threatens to tear them apart.

CHASING STARS is a slow burn romance with some spice. Miles is just what she needed. He makes her feel like she is enough. Jenna is helping Miles move on from his divorce. There is a fun friend group and Nate is Miles caring younger brother that looks out for him. This is a story about grief, healing, found family and finding love when you least expect it.

What an adorable love story. It had the small town, found family, fall vibes that I needed. Miles was divorced and living a lonely life until Jenna walked right into his unexpectedly. Jenna inherits her mother‘s house after she passed away. It has been sitting vacant for over 20 years and needs tons of work. Miles helps Jenna out as much as he can and even offers Jenna to stay with him. Their relationship slowly blossoms but Miles discovered some shocking news. Jenna ends up finding out before Miles got a chance to tell her and as expected, it blows up in his face.
I really adored this story and the characters. I felt so bad for Jenna in this book. I was happy she found Miles. He was so caring and always willing to help Jenna with everything she needed. I loved how Jenna worked at the hardware store and became friends with some of Miles’ friends. She fit in so well with everyone in their small town. That secret really blew my mind in the story because I didn’t figure it out beforehand. The grand gesture Miles put together towards the end had me tearing up.

Thank you so much to Linny Mack and Page and Vine for the gifted eArc of Chasing Stars. She has done it again, in producing a beautiful small-town romance that had me swooning, crying, and cheering out loud for these characters. I love this series and this author so much. I loved that we dove right back into the town of Cape May, and got a new storyline with Miles and Jenna. There were even cameos of characters from Changing Tides, which was so fun to read. I love the small-town vibes as well as the sense of welcoming community that Linny Mack has created in the Cape May series. I just need to talk about Miles and Jenna, though, because I was kicking my feet so much seeing their romance develop. Was my heart taken on an emotional rollercoaster during their relationship arc? Yes, it was. Did I enjoy every second? Absolutely. You'll definitely want to read this once it's released September 16th!

Jenna returns to her family summer home in Cape May years after her father's death. Now, she must figure out what she wants to do with the house that hasn't been opened in years with the help of real estate agent, Miles.
3.5 stars rounded up.
This was a cute one! I really enjoyed the Cape May setting. Being from NJ and having been to CM, I appreciated the familiar places! This was a cute and heartwarming romance that also has a little bit of spice added in. Jenna has so much going on in her life and I liked how there for her Miles was. He really appreciates that she doesn't need him to save her but also wants to helps save her at the same time. I also enjoyed the added side characters. Everyone in the town from Miles friends to both of their families really add to the cute small town feel!

Overall, this was a cute and heart warming romance!

If you love small town romances with a bit of emotional heartfelt story add The Cape May series to your TBR. Changing Tides is book one and Chasing Stars is book two. Swipe to see the beautiful covers!! Each is interconnected stand alone.

In Chasing Stars we meet Jenna and Miles who are two broken people that happen to seem be perfect for one another. Jenna is returning to Cape May after loss of her mother. She has inherited her beach house that needs a lot of work. Miles is perfect broken golden retriever who loves to surf. The art print of them surfing— I love this moment. This book felt like a warm hug, lots of healing and sweet heartfelt moments. The setting in Cape May and late summer into fall makes this such a perfect read right now.

I was not prepared for this book at all, after reading the first book in the series I knew it was going to be another amazing read and emotional but I wasn’t prepared to cry multiple times! I legit fell in love with this book. I love the character growth and the emotions that come from both the MMC and FMC, life is absolutely crazy and the like Jenna has was not easy and many people wouldn’t survive the way she has, after losing her mother and her father passing 25 years before, she heads to cape May and even if she doesn’t know it or feel it yet, cape May seems to have magic there that gives people the do over and fresh start that they need! Also miles is the perfect man! I love him and everything that he does throughout this book, he’s human so mistakes are made whether we want them to or not. I highly recommend this read when it comes out so you can see how this romance turns out!

Thank you for the chance to read this early!
This is the second book in the Cape May series and it is, again, a picture perfect representation of New Jersey shore towns in the fall. Off season is my FAVORITE time down the beach and this just immersed you in that salty air, cool breeze feeling. LOVE it.
This book follows Miles and Jenna as they grapple with their insta-chemistry and broken hearts: Miles from his ex-wife and a reputation he really hasn't earned and Jenna from the death of her parents. Their banter is delicious, the slow burn leads to a great payoff, the steamy scenes (there are more this go around) are excellent, and you FEEL for these two right away.
Similar to Book 1, there is an inexplicable fate that draws these two together, and I thought (while a bit twisty) it didn't require too much suspension of belief to pull off. I loved the moments we see our other characters. A few times I wanted to take Jenna and shake her (Miles forever!), but it wouldn't be a good romance if the third act breakup didn't make you root for them harder.
All in all a great read: I'm super enjoying this series and CANNOT wait for the next one!

I thoroughly enjoyed Sophie and Liam, but Jenna and Miles will always have my heart. Their story is heartwarming and beautifully quiet - two souls in search of a safe place, coming together and making sparks fly.

Pros: Miles is top tier book boyfriend material. He’s kind and thoughtful and the kind of guy who would get your cars oil changed just because. His POV is full of humor, with a bit of spice thrown in for good measure. Jenna is such a relatable character - someone struggling to put the pieces of something broken back together while life keeps throwing curveballs. The writing is lyrical and the ending is enough to make you want to cry.

Cons: Needed more dog. You can literally never have enough dog!

Linny’s second novel proves that if you’re looking for something that will make you warm and fuzzy on the inside, her work is a safe bet!
