The Truth About Breast Cancer: A 7-Step Prevention Plan

Rate this book
Now in its fully revised second edition, the Truth About Breast Cancer remains the most comprehensive book ever published on the subject of breast cancer prevention. The author does a fabulous job of explaining the lesser known risks and providing a realistic action plan that women can put to use, immediately. The book provides a special chapter devoted to the controversial reliance upon and promotion of mammography, including suggestions for safer and effective alternatives. A bonus in this book are the truly healthful and delicious recipes and menus created in collaboration with French chef Jean-Marc Fullsack, the culinary genius behind famed cardiologist-author, Dean Ornish. An extensive resource section opens the reader up to numerous organizations for support and merchants for acquiring healthful foods, products, and services. This is truly an exceptional book among the many titles on the subject.

The best defense is a good offense. This book is packed full of what women need to know to protect themselves from breast cancer. For this reason it stands alone in a sea of titles that merely want to help women beat cancer after they've been diagnosed, or help them cope with disease. Cope, schmope. If I can paraphrase Keon: the best way to kick cancer's ass is not to get it in the first place.

His point is absolutely well taken. The conventional medical literature believes "early detection" is the answer - but early detection only detects once you've already got cancer. Keon explains the many actions you can take, such as improving your diet, excercise, stress management, and reducing your exposure to harmful chemicals, to minimize your risks.

Although some statistics in the book feel a bit dated, and it would benefit from another round with an editor, the information is presented professionally and frankly without resorting to scare tactics. You should feel empowered after reading this book - not frightened.
