After the Battle of Akenworth, Shörn and his companions set out for Lydron, seeking answers from Dorgen, Shörn’s wise mentor. As their odyssey unfolds, they are drawn toward the ancient forest of Gunabel, a wood long rumored to harbor dark terrors. Hastening to reach Shörn’s village, where they hope Dorgen’s insight will solve the many riddles they cannot, the fellowship finds themselves haunted by inexplicable perils, unsure what drives the evils closing in around them.
Another excellent installment in the series! Each book has had a unique theme, and this one was very eerie (but in a good way). Can’t wait for the next one!
And so the saga continues. The journey into the dark forest of Gunabel and encounters with the mysterious Sylvia held my attention and called me to return to this novel so that I might have all of my questions resolved. I enjoyed the adventure and recommend this novel for anyone interested in continuing the journey with Shorn in the Avalon series.

Well written, well told, times of old, story. This book led me down castle steps, under the watchful boughs of ancient trees, and out into the fresh air of Avalon. I encountered warmth and sorrow in noble hearts, danger and fear in nocturnal solitude, and joyful edification in the unity of kith and kin. If you understand not these words, then Gunabel would serve you well.
