Giving a spoiler free review is going to be difficult but here we go. I liked that when it came to the betrayal aspect of the book the character wasn’t easily forgiven, there was good depth with the emotions and the hurt felt much more realistic this way all the while showing both characters cared deeply for each other; enough to make sacrifices to save the other.
This book had such a good balance of plot and romance. While romance does play a big role in this it wasn’t the main spotlight but rather the adventure, the friendships, the hardships of life, and the magic system were.
I really liked this book, the writing style of this was lovely. The setting and atmosphere of this book were really beautiful and the characters were well detailed. The queer rep was also really nice. Definitely ordering book two soon.
