A low-stakes, feel-good queer novella about art and love and connection.
The yearly charity calendar for the local marathon is a great gig for a photographer, if you can land it. And Holland just has, so now he's trying to find a way to upend the inherent toxic masculinity and misogyny in the calendars of old. Then the idea hits him: why not show off local heroes, ones who work hard and don't always get the recognition they deserve. And make it all queer.
When Caiden, a landscaper who happens to be helping Holland's adopted grandmother with her yard, shows up for the calendar gig, he and Holland instantly connect. Caiden wasn't expecting that, but he's also not one to toss aside an opportunity when he sees it. Holland is his kind of guy, and the charity the calendar is supporting helped his sister get care when she was ill as a kid. So it's a win-win in his book.
Working together is easy. Asking Holland on a date makes Caiden feel like a teenager all over again, but in that nervous-excited, good kind of way. And a night of mini golf and pool makes them both realize there's something more to this spark.
A really cute sweet novella. I really enjoyed reading about Holland and Caiden. It was funny and I loved how flirty they both were. I absolutely loved the mini golf scene it was just so heartwarming to see how sweet Holland was.

A sweet novella simply about two lovely men connecting. Holland is a photographer who’s been given a great offer: to photograph people in various some sexy (but innocent!) poses for a charity calendar featuring home town heroes. Everyone’s welcome, and Holland is especially taken with the handsome landscaper who’s offered to be Mr. July. Caiden is sweet, a bit nervous, and adorable, and as he starts to relax in front of the camera, Holland sees how fun he is. Holland is trying to stay professional, so when Caiden suggests a date outside of their photo shoot, Holland is more than happy to accept. What starts as Caiden’s desire to have a good luck charm while he finally tries to defeat the local mini golf course turns into an absolute blast of a night, ending in a steamy sleepover. I genuinely wanted to be on this date with them, it sounded so fun! I hear you Holland, I love some mini golf but I am absolutely terrible at it 🤣 Thanks so much to Halli for sharing this story!
