Former foster child Ember Bryant is content with her pouring lattes at the local coffee shop, volunteering at the library, and happily devouring romance novels to share about on her bookstagram account. She has other aspirations, certainly, but it’s not until an opportunity to take on an interior design project for a well-known figure in Balsam Falls that she decides to take a risk.

The catch? Doing the project will mean working alongside Graham Del Ray, a man as gorgeous and successful as he is gruff and elusive.

Since becoming the VP of Del Ray Development, work has been Graham Del Ray’s primary focus. If his childhood taught him anything it’s to keep life neat and orderly, and then retreat to his country home with its wildflower field to unwind. Until a curveball is thrown at the offer of a contracting job he can’t say no to.

The downfall? The project’s interior designer is the pretty girl from the coffee shop, who he hasn’t been able to get out of his head for the past four years.

Despite their best efforts, they develop an unlikely friendship—the whimsical romantic and the no-nonsense developer. But as they begin to learn who the other truly is, encouraging one another to reach for their dreams, denying the chemistry between them becomes impossible.

Without the restraints of their pasts, will they open up enough to build a life together, or will time shed too much light on their differences?

ARC REVIEW | 5⭐️

“I love romance, though it’s primarily fictional in my life. I like who I am, even if my community of just over two-thousand people on Bookstagram (a niche corner of instagram for book lovers) are the only ones who understand my bookish talk.”
-Ember Bryant

✨ she is us. ✨
first off, the cover of this book is everything & the summer vibes are top tier. i want to move to Balsam Falls Nebraska tbh ☀️🌿

Cleo absolutely nailed it with this story! while it does have some heavier topics, it was also the perfect light hearted, romance & i am still thinking about Graham, honestly y’all aren’t ready for him 😮‍💨🥰

i truly loved everything about this, it had me hooked from the beginning. Graham & Ember are truly everything. let me tell you, my man fell first & he fell HARD. 🥲 he was so tentative with her the whole time, & it melted my heart. that is my favorite kind of MMC. the friendship & romance that these two had, was just pure & you could just feel their love radiating off the pages 💕 she also wrote a little subplot of a romance between 2 other characters (i won’t tell u who, u will have to read it to find out heheh 🤭) but i thought it was such a cute touch to this story!

Cleo poured her heart into this story & it shows. i feel like she put so much of her journey writing this story, into Ember’s character. she truly had a way of transporting me into the scene, her descriptions were so vivid, & she has such a lyrical way of writing.
a couple examples;

“Because if I’m like a wildflower to him, Graham Del Ray is the sun to me.”

“It’s a cozy sound, his laughter. Like lake water in August, warmed from sunshine. I want to dive into it.”

I will stop the quotes there, but the annotations on my kindle are a crazy amount & i cannot wait to reread & annotate the physical copy 🫶🏼🥹

thank u so much to Cleo for allowing me to read this book early. 🥹🫶🏼 i will post an early review soon, but just know, when this book releases, y’all need to read it!!!!

Oh. My. Goodness! I LOVED this book!!!

Everything about this book was brilliant and I didn't want to put it down! It kept me up way too late and all I wanted to do was find out what happened next.

The romance was so sweet and gentle and it had all the perfect swoony and silly moments that make up a fantastic love story.

The sibling aspect of this book was amazing!! I loved how everyone interacted and can't wait to see more in the rest of the series.

My only complaint about this book is that it had to end, and that Graham isn't real because I NEED a real life Graham!!

Thank you so much Cleopatra Margot for the ARC!!!

“You’re the sun, Lou Lou, and we’re all just damn lucky to be within your beautiful rays.”

This book was just so stinking perfect. It was so so sweet and emotional and just amazing. I absolutely LOVED the characters. Ember is the cutest. She’s beyond relatable and the most genuine person. She exudes happiness and warmth to everyone around her, despite her traumatizing past. Graham.. I don’t even know where to begin. He is dreamy, a little moody at first, but a complete romantic for Ember. Even when he didn’t want to allow himself to get involved with her due to his past, I just knew they would be perfect for each other. I loved that he had noticed her four years prior and that she never left his mind. There is so much I enjoyed about this book- the chicken, the cow, the wildflower field, the trip to target, Ember being an aspiring writer with a bookstagram! They were the perfect touches to this love story.

Side note- that cliff hanger has my stomach in knots.

Lastly, I want to say that the side characters were all phenomenal. All of Ember’s adopted family members were so sweet, loving, and protective over her which nearly brought me to tears. (Sibling love is unlike any other) and I absolutely loved the other two Del Ray brothers so much! I cannot wait to see what comes next for them!

Thank you so much for allowing me to read and review! 💗

☀️ The vibes:
- Opposites attract
- bookish FMC
- Found family

💐 My thoughts:
This one is so cute. I just really love Cleopatra’s writing style. It flows differently than other books, and it’s so easy to binge through. It’s happy and sweet and full of heartwarming friendships and relationships. I love the family units that are involved in this story. There are a lot of characters, but I enjoy this world that we are immersed in.

I really cannot wait for Colton and Jordan’s books. I’m invested in both at this point. Also that cliffhanger at the end!!!!! Yallllll. I was not ready.

This book was just adorable and I’m so excited for the next one. There were some places that I wanted more details about- for example- Ember’s career goals. A surprise from Graham towards the end of the book caught me off guard because I didn’t see Ember express a desire for what he gave her (don’t want to spoil anything). I still thought it was adorable and loved them together, regardless.

Thank you so much Cleopatra for providing me with an early copy to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Format: eARC
Cleanliness: 4.5⭐️ Minor language use

Okay, so, this is my first Cleo book and it did not disappoint. I laughed out loud many times at their normal, everyday interactions. The development of their Ember and Graham’s feelings was so natural. Of course, I loved the romance aspect of this book, but what really sold me were the character’s backstories. They were real, they were raw, and they were realistic. This book had the perfect balance of dreamy romance and heartbreaking scenes. If you’ve been interested in trying a romance novel, this is the place to start.

It’ll be available on August 1, and you don’t want to miss it.

Ps – this book was gifted to me by the author, but this review is entirely honest and my own opinion.

This book is all about:
💐Cinnamon Roll of a MMC
📚Bookstagrammer of a FMC
💐Friends to Lovers
📚Workplace Romance(they meet for a project)
💐He makes her wildflower Bouquets
📚His Love Language is all five & I love it 😭
💐 Possessive MMC
📚SLOW BURN
📚they love clicking each other’s pictures 🥺

Graham had my heart from the beginning of the big and his hold over it grew stronger chapter after chapter..

I mean 😭😭

He is the perfect book boyfriend and has all the qualities I would want in the real boyfriend ❤️

Ember was adopted and has trauma within her because of her past, but she never lets it show.

Graham was hurt when her mother left and decided to not ever let a woman be given such a position that it hurts this bad when they leave.

When Graham & Ember has a meeting for a town project, it’s all sorts of meet cute but meet disaster 🤭😂 only for them to realise they will also be working on another project together 👀

Graham offers Ember friendship because that’s the only thing he can give her but he knows what they have isn’t as trivial as just friendship..

The anticipation of first kiss killed me 😭

THIS BOOK CALLED ME SINGLE IN ALL THE LANGUAGES BUT I LOVED IT ANYWAY 🥹❤️😭

“Because I’m like a wildflower to him, Graham Del Ray is the sun to me.”

This is honestly my favourite grumpy x sunshine book of this year!! Along with small town theme and he falls first trope? Perfect recipe to cure a book hangover this summer. This book will have you blushing, laughing and crying, all in the same chapter. And it was so well written. The summer vibes were ✨magnificent✨ It was impossible not to fall in love with Ember and Graham.

Ember was literally sunshine in human form. Despite suffering a traumatising past, she did her best to keep herself happy and romanticised the heck out of her life and I’M HERE FOR IT. She’s just like us, y’all 😭🩷 a hopeless romantic bookstagrammer! She’s also an aspiring writer. The author put some of Ember’s booksta posts in the book and they absolutely made my day. Ember’s character was so relatable🥰 I also loved the relationship she had with her family. Made me so emotional.

Now Graham is a moody, broody grumpy workaholic who wants nothing to do with relationships. Man has some serious abandonment issues. But as soon as he gets to know Ember, it’s over for him. He falls first and hard and LET ME TELL YOU HOW PERFECT THIS MAN WAS!!!!!
-handpicks flowers for her
-a total gentleman
-communicates his feelings
-asks for consent (even for innocent touches)
-encourages her hobbies & aspirations
-LISTENS!1!1!1!
-good with kids
And SO MUCH MORE. I couldn’t find a single flaw in him😭💘 the whole book was him basically being whipped af for Ember💘💘💘

The whole small town-big family dynamic was so heartwarming. I loved how everyone was so supportive of Ember & Graham. This book had a few chapters from another couple as well so that was nice to read about too. Really gave depth to those characters. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a perfect blend between a romcom and emotional read. I am simply going to ignore the cliffhanger for the sake of my mental health 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

Thank you so much for the ARC🩷 can’t wait to read more of Del Ray brothers!!

5/5 ⭐️

Thank you Cleopatra Margot for this ARC in exchange for my review! I loved chatting with Cleo about this book and my thoughts as I read it! One of the reasons I love bookstagram is getting to talk to authors about their books as I read it and share my excitement!🎉

Trigger warnings: talks of physical abuse, abandonment by parent and talks of verbal abuse

This book is out August 1, 2023 👏🏻

This book is incredible! Everything from the setting to the complex and authentic characters.

4,5 stars ✨

Read this book if you like:

• small town romance
• grumpy x sunshine

I was living my best small town romance near bookshops and the lake whenever I picked this book. And I LOVED IT!!

Ember was the cutest sunshine FMC ever and I loved how positive, understanding and resilient she was. Plus, the fact she was a bookstagrammer / bookworm / author to be made me love her even more 🥹🫶🏻 (and her sense of style was incredible)!

Graham was the typical grumpy MMC that underneath all that grumpiness was a soft spot just for his ray of sunshine aka Ember! The way he was so attentive to details and caring towards her made my heart melt 😭🫶🏻

The family dynamics where on point and I can’t wait to read the other brother’s book (it’s impossible not to love them all already).

I simply loved Cleo’s writing and how cute and soft and non-problematic this romance was!

This is the sweetest book! I love all the characters and all the different family dynamics, both with Ember and Graham’s family. There are some heavier topics but dealt with in a really beautiful way! No third act breakup, or miscommunication which are just 2 more reasons I LOVE this book so much!! Plus there’s an attack rooster and a baby cow so how can you go wrong with that?!

4.5/5. Honestly LOVED this book. Let’s start with the pros because there’s so many.

Pros:
- cleopatra margot is a great author. i think the way she writes is very descriptive and keeps the reader engaged
- the story line was so perfect. i thought i was going to be reading a story about a city boy but it was even better. a business man that is also a cowboy?? c’mon it doesn’t get better then that.
- i’m biased but i live elsie silver. she is my favorite author (chestnut springs series i highly recommend!!) but i don’t read smut anymore so this was perfect! cleopatra writes just like elsie silver but without smut so it was AMAZING

cons:
- i don’t have many…however. this book left off on a HUGE cliff hanger (i literally threw my book on my bed and my jaw dropped). if i had the second book in hand, ready to read i guess it would be fine but i’m just like what do i do now. i also wasn’t expecting anything like this to happen at the end…at all! so it really took me for a loop.
- this part is my fault, but i thought this book was a stand alone not a series but still awesome and super excited to read about the del ray brothers🥹❤️

definitely recommend!! if you’re a christian looking for romance (no smut) or you’re just looking for a fade to black book this is actually perfect. super excited to read some of her other stuff:)

I LOVED this book! This book had opposites attract, found family, romance bookstagrammer FMC which I love. Graham and Ember are so cute together I love them so much. This book had so many cute and swoony moments. I enjoyed the chemistry between Graham and Ember also. I loved seeing Graham's other brothers Jordan and Colton they were so funny, and I can't wait for their books. I enjoyed how Ember was a romance reader too, and also a romance bookstagrammer. What Ember had to go through as a child was so heartbreaking. I loved how Graham was so supportive of her too. The cliffhanger at the end had me shocked, and I can't wait for book 2 to see what happens next. I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so comforting! I felt like I was reading a hallmark movie 💗
The small town vibe was complete with a fun, eclectic cast of side characters.

The grumpy/sunshine trope will forever be one of my favourites and their banter was excellent! I’m really looking forward to the rest of this series!

Definitely pick this up if you’re looking for a book that will feel like a warm hug.

Sun to me - @cleopatra.margot
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🌶:kissing only (clean)
❗️:parental abandonment ,physical and emotional parental abuse, anxiety regarding physical touch ,unconsented touch (not sexual),mentions of PTSD/panic attacks

This was such a sweet story ,with minimal tension and angst.

I loved Emmie since she was first introduced in the Bryant family series. But to be honest, I miss the old style of books Cleo wrote ,it had faith, hard topics & themes, but this one felt devoid of the charm and character I associated with her books.

But that being said, it was a sweet ,cute book that I finished within a couple of days.
I really liked Graham. He was such a sweet character.
Finally, getting into Amber's head and seeing why she was a foster child broke my heart, but Graham was so sweet and patient with her and became the perfect bookstagram boyfriend.

After reading Sun to me, I couldn't wait for the rest of the Del Rey brother's books

Tropes & things I loved:
He fell first
Slow burn
Small town
Baby cow / rooster
Flowers
Secondary romance (Graham's dad)

Well this was just a frickin delight! 🥰

This book was just a pocket full of sunshine and an absolute pleasure to read. I feel like I’ve been on a journey with Cleo on this one and seeing how much work and effort she put in to this book for all of us to enjoy truly paid off!

↳ 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 - she is us, 𝙒𝙀 𝘼𝙍𝙀 𝙃𝙀𝙍. A bookish FMC and the sunniest of sunshines. Despite her traumatic past, and the anxiety she lives with because of it, she is a true romantic and her character just beamed off of the page.

"𝐀 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬."

"𝐈𝐟 𝐈’𝐦 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐢𝐦, 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐦 𝐃𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞."

↳ 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐦 - lord have mercy - 𝙂𝙍𝘼𝙃𝘼𝙈 𝘼𝙇𝙀𝙓𝘼𝙉𝘿𝙀𝙍 𝘿𝙀𝙇-𝙍𝘼𝙔 🥵 - the grumpiest of grumps, with his love for wildflowers, and books, and ember!! He absolutely melted my heart with how compassionate and attentive he was toward Ember and her struggles - new book boyfriend on the block!!

"𝐈'𝐦 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝."

"𝐈'𝐦 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐟𝐟, 𝐋𝐨𝐮 𝐋𝐨𝐮" - 🥺 this entire scene 𝘽𝙍𝙊𝙆𝙀 𝙈𝙀. I just love Graham so much omg.

↳ 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 - I’m here for it guys, and Cleo 𝘿𝙀𝙇𝙄𝙑𝙀𝙍𝙀𝘿. I just love the chemistry and the witty banter that these two had! It always makes the characters feel more real to me.

𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫: 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐚𝐛𝐬, 𝐁𝐫𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐭?

𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫: 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐨 𝐛𝐚𝐝.

Cleo has a beautiful writing style and I devoured every page - this was just the most perfect, no drama, emotional, but beautiful love story. There was also a bit of a sub-plot going on throughout the book which I loved and that ending though??? I cannot wait to read more in the series!

Lately, I’ve had a hard time really falling into romance reads, but I decided to pick this one up on a whim (I mean, that gorgeous cover is enough of a reason), but I quickly fell in love with these characters and the setting. The writing is just seamless, with the characters being so witty, charming and relatable. And our MMC is an absolute DREAM 😍

As a girl raised on a dairy farm, looking forward to every fall for the county fair and the rodeos, this book was so nostalgic. The writing is phenomenal and perfectly brings you right to the locations on set, whether it’s the sweaty, uncomfortable bleachers eating salty fair popcorn or lakeside with the sun warming your hair at the break of fall, the writing really took you there.

Read if you love
☀️Grumpy/sunshine
☀️Closed-door romance
☀️Small town vibes
☀️FMC is bookstagram babe
☀️A sprinkle of second chance romance

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

📚 Release date 8/1/23

First I want to thank Cleopatra for letting me read this ARC! I cannot wait to have the physical copy on my shelf!

Sun To Me was my first book by Cleopatra and definitely hands down not my last.

“Life is a love story, and now that I understand that, I’m ready to claim mine.”

Ember, she was an absolute sweetheart who loves books as much as I do! Dispute her terrible past, she’s so loving and always brings happiness wherever she goes.

Graham is 🤤 the VP if Del Ray Development who’s father wants him to fill his shoes at the company a but, Graham has other plans which involves a pretty girl who works at a local coffee shop.

The perfect job opportunity that both of them simply cannot turn down, it’s something they both are passionate about and willing to take the risk BUTTTTTT what happens when the local coffee shop girl and the sexy VP of Del Ray Development find out they’ll be working together? Read and find out!

"If there's one thing that has always made me smile, it's the sun. And you've become the sun to me."

Possibly the sweetest romance I have read in a LONG time. The love and friendship in this story is so gentle, caring and kind.

This book was emotional, Witty and romantic. I love Embers personality and her being a bookstagrammer made the whole story extremely relatable to me.

Graham is possibly my new number one book boyfriend. So sweet and successful.

The last chapter had me shook, I need to know what happened immediately!! Can’t not wait to read the rest of the series.

This book is the perfect light read, although it deals with heavier topics, it was refreshing to have no break ups or broody men ruining their own relationships. It was a cliche love story but so well executed I could read about Ember and Graham all day long.

Would highly recommend to romance readers! A truly refreshing read.

Ps. I would like my own little Magnolia!

A cliffhanger, really?! How dare you? I guess I’ll forgive you since there was no third act break up. This book was a sweet and fun read. Ember and Graham’s banter was adorable. Graham and Ember were perfect for each other and really helped the other come out of their comfort zones.
This book dealt with some heavier topics (respectfully), but still felt like a light romance. I really identified with Ember. I was adopted out of foster care, love reading, have a bookstagram, hate touching other people, and I ramble when I’m nervous.
I loved reading about the Bryant and Del Ray families and can’t wait to read what happens next!

P.S. I got super excited when I saw my IG handle in the book!

* This is a closed door romance that contains non descriptive kisses and light swearing.

(2.25/5) yk i wish. i WISH. i liked this book more because the cover is absolutely beautiful for a cartoon cover but it was js too cheesy and everything was wayyyy to fast paced for it to actually be grumpy/sunshine bc why were they opening up to each other on like page 100 it js felt kind of rushed. i loved the side characters and the mmc and fcm’s nieces and nephews but that was about it☹️ i ended up skimming most of the book because i thought it was quite dragged on but thats js my opinion!

P.S. can we collectively agree NOT to put real life authors in books it js makes it so dated and same thing with the mention of barnes and noble, target, instagram “bookstagram”, tiktok and i think even pinterest…js no!

This book was filled with clichés but they were so well put that I lapped it up whole in two freaking days.
This book was too good, usually I don't go for romances like this one but I loved every page of this book.
Graham was a sweetheart, so good with Ember. And Ember was too relatable being a reader myself.
And the side characters were adding to the story in a way that now I feel like I know them so much but they are still a mystery and now I want to read their story.
It ended in a cliffhanger but it's made me so excited for the other brothers.

*Drops into a puddle of mush at second to last chapter* 🫠
*Prepares to angrily throw book across room at ending*😱
What is this madness???!!! This cliff hanger was uncalled for and I need answers now. 💀
.
Emojis for the book...
💐 🩷🤌📚🫶🐓
.
The cuteness is sigh worthy. The plot predictable, and yet there are things you don't see coming. Angst is always a win for the male MC in my humble opinion, and Ember is a heroine many booknerd girls will understand.
I love the brothers dynamic. ❤️
The side plot of second chance love with the older side couple? Yes, please. Hazel is one of my faves.
I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. I loved the deeper themes like healing in abuse, forgiveness in parental abandonment, family strengthening, and just family bonds in general.
.
The million and one descriptions of Graham's pecks was a little much for me and sometimes I felt the characters were more infatuated with each other bc of looks. 🙃 I'm just not the reader gal who likes hearing about his butt so much. I'm sorry.
.
The kissing was sweet and no open door scenes though at times the kissing verged on the characters obviously wanting more. I'm glad we had none of that though. 😌
.
There was language but the author recently said she was ommiting it from her books, which I'm glad. I'm not one for heavy swearing either.
.
Overall, this book is a win in my book. 🥰

“It’s not about romanticizing life—it’s about realizing that life romanticizes us. The shy smile that forged a friendship that blossomed into a love story. The random act of kindness that unexpectedly blessed a single parent who was questioning the goodness of the world. The way nature knows when to rest and when to renew. Life is a love story, and now that I understand that, I’m ready to claim mine.’”

this was purely sunshine in the form of a book and that’s the best way to explain it. I enjoyed it so much from start to finish and no (graham cracker) crumbs were left. Cleo covered every crevice of this sweet romance, containing equally balanced lighthearted silly moments and heavier topics which was done so beautifully in her writing. Graham and Ember’s characters were made so thoughtfully and i still can’t believe they aren’t real. I can’t wait to continue the series (i had no clue this would end in a cliffhanger!) 🤍
