A new book from the creator of Don't Push the Button! You better not draw in it!
Larry has a new sketchbook—a magic one, where you "draw" using your finger to trace shapes. Tracing each shape makes something new happen on the next page! But you never know what's going to happen…
This touch-and-trace interactive story is a fun way to send Larry on a wild adventure, all in the silly, exuberant style that's Bill Cotter's trademark.
Bill Cotter was born in Dallas in 1964, and has labored as an antiquarian book dealer and restorer since 2000. He presently lives in Austin with his girlfriend, the poet Annie La Ganga, and Travis, an inextinguishable roach who divides his time between the shower and the silverware drawer.
This is a cute, fun book for toddlers and young elementary school children. I feel like it would be most appropriate for a kid who's about 2-6. It has a bit of a "Monster at the End of the Book" vibe at the beginning.
The idea is that a young kid will "draw" different shapes with their finger. I can definitely see this being a fun, "see how fast you can draw" activity to do with a small child.
Overall, I'd give this 4.5 stars. I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway, and I'm providing a voluntary review.
I love children’s books like this! The interactive elements are fun and they teach kids basic drawing shapes with whimsical outcomes. As soon as we pulled this book out of its package the kids wanted to read it. We read it right away and the 4yr old said “Read again, please!” Now she’s sitting, reading it to herself over and over, tracing the pictures.
