The Silent Wave by N.G.K.
This was a good read. Slow to start with. I wasn't sure about the characters. Graham, Lucy, Terri, Denny, Peter, Sarah or the host Edward. I certainly didn't see that coming. Twisty for sure. I wasn't sure how I felt about the ending.

First of all, I was drawn to this one but the brilliant front cover.
I loved that it perfectly portrayed what the book was about and looked bright and fun.
However, there was definitely no fun to be had aboard the Emerald Empress for this group of friends.

We spend the first few chapters setting the scene and it was great to meet our characters through a dinner thrown by Graham and Lucy. It was immediately obvious that there had been a lot going on within the group over the many years they'd known each other....and not all good by the sounds of it...
Having already seen that there would be a murder, it was now down to us to try and work out who murders who....and why!?

I loved all the ins and outs of the relationships and every nugget that were fed. The dynamics of the group were ever changing and this just fueled my distrust of them all.
I think at one point I could easily have given a theory for each of them being the victim and the murderer!

I instantly took a dislike to certain characters ...or traits at least - but this added to the storyline and kept me intrigued until the end.

The writing style was nice and easy to read with clear direction at the start of each chapter as to where we were, who with and when.
I also found it really easy to visualise each of the characters and the scenes set.
Being essentially stranded and stuck in board with a murderer, really set a tense atmosphere that had me on edge and racing through the pages.

I really enjoyed this read and am looking forward to seeing and reading more from this author in the near future.

Here is my review for The Silent Wave by NGK

I truly enjoyed reading this story and the author created a great atmosphere throughout this story of simmering tensions between the friends. Six friends had agreed to go on a cruise together; it was the chance of a life-time. Sarah and Peter Emerson, Denny and Terri Blackwood all met for dinner at Lucy and Graham Winslow’s a week before the cruise was due to set sail. Lucy had made sure the dining arrangements were impeccable and up to her high standards. The friends, most of whom have known each other for twenty years or more, try to get through the evening amicably. Terri is the odd one out in the group as she has only been married to Denny a few years although the others have tried to make her feel welcome. Graham had managed to get them a good rate on the rooms. This was a fast paced mystery which I really enjoyed reading. Throughout the book, the author tells you the place and time of day so you know the setting. After reading a few accounts about Denny, it seemed like he was a forceful personality and he always had to be top dog. The author gives some history on the friendship's background. It was written exceptionally well and well plotted. You can feel the suspense as you are reading. I was so into this book that I couldn’t put it down as I needed to know what happened next. Nathan has written a lot of children’s books but this is first adult book. Well done Nathan, I hope you do more, I would like to read them!

I'm reviewing this as part of a tour with Zooloo's Book Tours.

This murder mystery takes place on a cruise ship known as the Emerald Empress. The description gave me some Agatha Christie vibes, as ‘Death on the Nile’ is a classic favourite of mine, and I was really keen to read this.

At the start, I felt there was a kind of sincerity in the author's writing that I enjoyed. As the six main characters were introduced, I found that some seemed more likeable than others. Not every character is going to be likeable to the reader, but I found that all of the characters came to life easily for me, and I could picture them in my mind.

At first, I expected this book to be lighthearted and cosy, maybe with some humour thrown in. I found there was more suspense than I anticipated, and it was gripping to read. It was definitely a page turner, and as the story progressed, I wasn't sure who to trust at all.

I really liked this, and I would recommend it to murder mystery fans.

Thank you to Zooloo's Book Tours, and to the author and publisher, for the opportunity to read and review this.
