Mindy Sue Tanner had no choice but to advertise for a mail order husband. Her pa passed on a year before and the ranch was in disrepair with her ranch hands refusing to take orders from her. She needed a husband at her side who could make the ranch prosper once again and a man to love her and build a life with. When Brett Connors showed up to marry her, she wondered if he was only marrying her for her ranch or if he truly wanted a life with her.
Brett Connors was tired of his life working for his father. He needed wide open spaces and a woman to love and care for. He wanted a home and family and not living his life stuck under his father's thumb. When he saw Mindy's advertisement for a mail order husband, he felt she was the right woman for him and she owned a ranch.
Cia Leah most certainly knows how to write her historical romances. Her Mail Order books really show case her talent.
I have to say I think my favorite character was Scuffy. And my favorite part in this book is when Scuffy blushes :) during the conversation about consummating Mindy and Brett's marriage, hehehe, that part was very well written. I am also glad that Scuffy was a great shot with a rifle.
This book is so dang short. It pissed me off. She had so much potential, so that is why I’m so aggravated. This author can write, but why she’s not giving the books she creates time to function, I’m not quite sure. Because if this book was longer, and had a little room for character growth and expansion? It would be so, so lovely. But the dialogue, action, care, and interest taken is so difficult because it’s jammed into too few pages.
I purchased it on my nook, so unfortunately it was a ‘well, what’s the worst that could happen?’ Well, I’ll tell you what can happen—it could hurt your feels that what would have been a nice story wasn’t developed properly, so the story became strained. I loved the little cast of characters, I just felt like the love story didn’t have a chance to blossom.
The author has a great writing style, I enjoy her books. This story is written how it was for women during the old West time period. A young women finds herself running the family ranch and men who worked for her dad won't work for a woman. A mail order husband arrives. How do they get along, does he want to stay? You won't want to put the story away until I finish the story.
I liked Mindy's Mail Order Husband more than I thought I would! This was a realistic sweet mail order bride western romance. Despite being so short it was a satisfying read. It had a lot of action and the characters were well developed.
I wished it would have had a bit more romance. I was also surprised that Mindy's husband wasn't the one to rescue her. Usually the male lead is the hero. It didn't detract from the story though.
It was a fun little romp. It could have been a full blown novel instead of a short little novella. The characters shined through and we all knew who to boo and who to root for. After reading so many Mail order bride stories it was refreshing to see a mail order husband. Their love and their lives were just a little too perfect for me.
A good short story. I like the characters not much substance in the story but it was still interesting. This was one of those times I was just in the mood for something light and this fit the bill
An interesting read about life on back ranch in the 1800s. Brett and his new wife are committed to each other and work very hard to make the ranch run smoothly. Great read
