A Devil Doesn't Bargain

Rate this book
If only reality was a simple truth, and devils only existed in dark fairy tales.

What do you do when someone you love goes missing and the only lead you have is a notorious motorcycle gang known for stealing and selling off women?

In most cases, the authorities get called, a missing person’s report gets filed, an investigation ensues. Most people use these official channels to get word out, to keep themselves out of harm's way, to keep hope that the loved one will be located, happy ending or otherwise.

But I am not most people. I don't call authorities or file reports because an official investigation wouldn’t delve deep enough into evil to solve the mystery that is the disappearance of my sister.

An evil that runs so deep it’s impossible to know who is truly trustworthy, and who I can count on when the final showdown comes and I’m face-to-face with the demons that society pretends don’t exist.

So, having no other choice, I infiltrate an organization that would happily use me for sport for the rest of my miserable life. I target possible allies behind those enemy lines. I seek out the unsuspecting people who appear to have reasons to fight back against the very faction they work for, people who still have something to fight for.

People like Zion Cruz, Sargent at Arms and resident a-hole extraordinaire who historically has at least one conscientious bone in his body, and maybe even a secret or two that I can use against him. Because when I dive down into Hell, I’m taking them all with me.

My name is Vivian Jones. And I am a seeker of the dark.

*A Devil Doesn't Bargain is a standalone dark paranormal motorcycle romance featuring but not limited to fated mates, forced proximity, found family, obsessive/possessive hero, strong FMC, revenge/betrayal, guardian, demons/angels vigilante f**kery shenanigans. This book is only suitable for readers over the age of 18.

It was spicy but with the added mystery of ‘wtf is going on her?!’ I completely understand why the world building takes a bit longer & it was sooo worth it! "A Devil Doesn’t Bargain" is a mesmerizing standalone novel that skillfully blends dark paranormal elements with the gritty world of motorcycle romance.

MercyAnn Summers creates a tale that’s as enthralling as it is intense, drawing us into the murky depths of good versus evil, betrayal, and love.

At the heart of the story is Vivian Jones, a strong and fiercely determined female. Her journey to infiltrate a ruthless motorcycle gang in search of her sister propels the plot forward with relentless energy. From the very first pages, Vivian’s fierce spirit and unwavering resolve are evident.

The relationship between Vivian and Zion Cruz, the Sargent at Arms of the gang, is a standout element. Their dynamic begins steeped in antagonism but slowly evolves into a powerful bond, rife with tension and undeniable chemistry. Zion, the obsessive and possessive hero, is a true embodiment of the dark allure that kept me gripping my kindle! His character grapples with his own demons and loyalties.

The author handles the themes of fated mates and found family really well, weaving them into the story. The secondary characters, part of this chaotic motorcycle club, come alive with their own personalities. (Would love to see a few of these bikers get books 😜)

The pacing of the novel is managed really well, the tension builds as secrets unravel, leading to a gripping climax that left me breathless. The author skillfully balances moments of suspense with heart wrenching romance. The interplay between demons and angels adds yet another layer to the story.

What truly sets "A Devil Doesn’t Bargain" apart is its tale of revenge and the moral gray areas that come with it. Vivian’s quest for justice, fueled by the darkness she encounters, leads to revelations that challenge her initial beliefs and moral compass….

We find ourselves immersed in a world where betrayal lurks around every corner, and trust becomes a precious commodity.

In conclusion, "A Devil Doesn’t Bargain" is a riveting dark paranormal romance that captivates you from start to finish.

MercyAnn Summers delivers a great story filled with complex characters, passionate romance, loyalty and betrayal.

Mercyann is a new author to me.

Not going to lie - this cover is what grabbed my attention first. And then I read the blurb and was hooked and had to read this one.

This book was not exactly what I was expecting. But that isn't exactly a bad thing. I found this book to be more on the entertainment side. There are paranormal elements in this book but nothing too deep or descriptive.

I'm a huge dark romance fan and for me - this fell on the more tame side. So if you are wanting to dip your toes into the dark romance world, absolutely give this book a read. But please check the trigger warnings first.

The story moves at a fast pace and while I was left confused or felt like I was missing something at certain parts, the story kept me entertained. This is definitely not your normal paranormal story and I think that is another reason I enjoyed it - it was different and unexpected.

Definitely go into this one with an open mind and not all the expectations you normally have for a paranormal or dark romance.

I have mixed feelings about this book. The plot itself was good. The characters were great. Where it fell short for me was how it was written. I felt like I was behind or I had missed reading a book before. For example, in the beginning, the FMC is at a bar with people who are forced to stay at the table. Why, who are these girls to her? The MMC shows up, and he is the lead man of the men in the back room. What is this group of men, and why is he in charge? I guess a lot of things would have been better if things had been better explained or explained at that moment. I know some things get explained, but it is later on. I was just very confused about a lot of things in this book. Overall, it was okay.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

“A Devil Doesn’t Bargain” dragged me kicking and screaming into a world of darkness and desire I wasn’t entirely ready for—and honey, I freaking loved every hair-raising minute. Vivian Jones is fierce and broken; her sister has gone missing, and instead of calling 911 or hiring a PI, she infiltrates a notorious motorcycle club because Vivian knows all too well that evil isn’t always held accountable by the law. Zion Cruz, Sargent at Arms, and resident a-hole has just enough conscience to be lethal—and his magnetism with Vivian? Brimming with tension, suspicion, and heat so thick, you may need to crack open a fan to breathe. There are demons & angels, fated mates, betrayal, found family, hope stitched through wounds, and the ever-elusive moral grey zone that kept me questioning every twist and turn. Pacing was fast, stakes were dark, and MercyAnn Summers isn’t afraid to show you the depths of what it means to throw yourself headfirst into Hell for the ones you love. The tug of war between Vivian’s quest for answers and Zion’s protectiveness fueled the romance and when those walls crumbled? Chef’s kiss. If you’re looking for a paranormal MC romance with obsession, danger, and a healthy side of revenge with a heroine who knows how to fight back, this one is a damn good time.

I received this as an ARC and am providing my honest review.

This is a paranormal romance, but I honestly forgot initially because it doesn't really come into play until like 1/3 of the way through (other than the fated mates trope). I spent like 80% of the book confused and I still don't really understand all the things that happened at the end that allowed or how the magic works in this world. We got Zion's POV, but not actually, as he clearly had way more information than the reader. While I think this CAN be done well, it just left me more confused and a little annoyed.
Vivien's personality fluctuates so much throughout this book, but Zion kept me going. Honestly I wish we got more of Cornelius and Jacob as well as they seemed like they could be fun characters.

This book was described as a standalone with previous character appearances, and it was, but I think it would have been better if I'd read some of the authors other works.

But I know some people who will love this vibe! So If you want to read a dark paranormal motorcycle romance about the FMCs journey to infiltrate a motorcycle gang in search of her sister then this a book for you!

I received this book as an ARC. This was my first read from MercyAnn Summers, and I’m not sure if it’s just her style, but I felt like everything moved a little too quickly. I couldn’t fully get into the story or connect with the plot, and I really wish there had been more development. The concept had potential, but it just didn’t land for me. That said, I still finished it because I usually like to see a book through rather than DNF it.

I mostly liked this book but I was confused at several points, I feel like I’ve missed things here and there and that’s why I gave it only 3 stars.
Maybe the author tried to add too many things in the story and it missed some context.

I wish I liked it more because the blurb had everything to make me love it, but I had a good moment anyway.

Thanks to LoveNotesPR and the author for the ARC

If only reality could be a simple truth, and devils truly only existed in dark fairy tales.

What are you supposed to do when someone you love and care about disappears and the only clue that you have is a notorious motorcycle gang that's known for not only taking women off the streets but also selling those women off?

In most of these cases, you'll call the authorities, file a missing person's report, and the police will start an investigation. Most people will use these official channels to get word out, keep themselves out of harm's way, keep hope that their loved one will be located safely, they'll see their loved one again, and everything will end in a happy ending.

Vivian Jones isn't like most people though. She doesn't call the authorities or file any police reports. She knows that any official investigation would never dive deep enough into the evil to solve the mystery that is the disappearance of her sister.

This is an evil that runs deeper than Vivian could have ever dreamed and she finds it impossible to know exactly who is trustworthy, and who she can really count on when the final showdown comes. And when that happens and Vivian finally comes face-to-face with the demons that society loves to pretend doesn't exist.

Vivian knows that she doesn't have any other choice, she has to find a way to infiltrate the very organization that would love to use her for sport for the rest of her anguished life. So Vivian seeks out all the unguarded people who Vivian sees as having a reason to fight back against the very faction that they work for, they are the people who Vivian realizes still have something to fight for.

Vivian soon finds herself working with people like Zion, Cruz, Sargent at Arms, and a resident a-hole extraordinaire – someone who historically manages to find at least one conscientious bone in his body at times, and maybe one or two secrets that Vivian can use against him. Because Vivian knows that she's not going to drive into hell alone, when she goes, she's taking them all with her.

Her name is Vivian Jones. And she is a seeker of the dark.

A Devil Doesn’t Bargain by Mercy Ann Summers. This is the first book by Mercy Ann Summers that I have read and I found it to be amazing. It is a standalone novel that takes dark paranormal elements with the nitty gritty world of a motorcycle romance. I have never read a book like this and I had a hard time putting this book down once I started reading it.

Mercy Ann Summers has created a story that is both as engrossing as it is intense, she draws us into a story of good vs evil, betrayal, and love. And the depths that we go into are murky and deep and can get dark at times.

The heart of this story is Vivian Jones, who is a strong and fiercely determined woman. She journeys into the depths of a ruthless motorcycle gang, searching for her sister who has disappeared, it is this search that pushes the plot and sub-plot forward with a relentless energy. From page one, we can feel Vivian's fierce spirit and her unwavering resolve, and that never changes.

The relationship that Vivian builds between Zion, Cruz, and the Sargent at Arms of the gang is one of the standout elements of this book. The dynamic that starts off being steeped in antagonism and then slowly that bond grows and evolves into this powerful bond that is rife with tension and an undeniable chemistry.

Zion is this obsessive and possessive kind of hero. I found him to be the true embodiment of the dark allure. Zion is the kind of character who grapples with his own baggage, demons, and of course loyalties.

I found that Mercy Ann Summers takes the themes of fated mates and found family and handles them perfectly and she weaves them into the story with perfect ability. And the secondary characters that were part of this story, part of the chaotic motorcycle club, they all come to life and they all have their own personalities and their own flaws. (Really some of these bikers deserve to get books of their own and deserve to get their own HEAs).

I was really impressed with the constant pacing of A Devil Doesn't Bargain. The tension builds up as the secrets unravel, I was left breathless and my jaw on the ground with the climax. Mercy was able to masterfully balance the suspense with heart-wrenching, heart-breaking, and even gut-punching romance. And I loved the interchange between the angels and demons which added yet another level to over all story and added yet another plot to the story.

The one thing that sets A Devil Doesn't Bargain apart is that it's more than just a tale of revenge and all the morally gray areas that come with it. This book is set apart by Vivian's quest for justice for her sister, a quest that is fueled through the darkness she encounters, the road that leads to revelations that challenge all her initial beliefs and even her moral compass.

Here in this book we find ourselves consumed in this world where betrayal is lurking around every corner, and trust that becomes yet another precious asset.

I can honestly say that if you enjoy dark paranormal and/or motorcycle romance then this is a great read for you.

I have fallen in love with Mercy Ann Summers in reading this book and I look forward to reading more of her books. In this book, she has filled the pages with complex characters, passionate romance, loyalty, and even betrayal.

There’s Just Something About Not Knowing

As someone who has read the Ends World series by MercyAnn Summers, I had an inkling of what I would find in this new release of hers.

What does that mean? It means that I knew I was going to somehow get wrapped up in a storyline that left me lost and confused at times. That’s what kept me reading A Devil Doesn’t Bargain. I never knew what to expect! That’s what keeps me coming back for more, because these characters keep me entertained and I get invested in them.

I was on a dark romance journey for almost a year, I don’t consider this a truly dark story. I think the paranormal elements may have it going in that direction, with the concept of being good and evil and that free will choices determine which side of yourself you embrace, for lack of a better word.

Vivian Jones is the strong FMC who doesn’t let anything get in her way when she is after something. She’s more than what she seems at first and in true MercyAnn Summers fashion, that information is revealed to not only the reader, but Vivian, as the story progresses.

Zion Cruz is the MMC who takes responsibility for Vivian after she finds herself in a bit of a situation, one that she doesn’t fully comprehend at the time. It’s an interesting dynamic between the two of them. One aspect I enjoyed was the role flip where the MMC was in need of help from the FMC at times.

This book moves quickly and as previously mentioned, feeling lost about what’s going on as a reader is expected, at least by me. As with the Ends World series, the concept of found family plays a big role in this story. There are even glimpses of characters from the Ends World series, so if you are wondering about the chat Zion finds himself in, and want to learn more about those women, start with the book Ends of Being.

This is said to be a dark paranormal motorcycle romance. Personally, I didn’t find it to be dark and although there were elements with motorcycles, I don’t know if I’d classify it that way, either. To be honest, this is another book that had me constantly wondering WTF? was going on and I really enjoyed it. That aspect makes MercyAnn Summers a different type of writer than other authors I enjoy reading. She writes to the beat of her own muses and it appeals to me as a reader.

A Devil Doesn’t Bargain by Mercy Anne Summers

Man, I love this book. How fun to have a paranormal romance with bikers thrown in! First of all, there were no major triggers other than some milder to medium violence and some language. I’m just so relieved there wasn’t SA or abuse of a child, because I really needed a break from the dark stuff. Which is funny to say, considering this book deals with devils and demons and fallen angels (oh my!), but it’s not dark. It’s got a lot of action, some heat, a good amount of romance (including the fated mates type of Instalove), and just the right amount of humor. I loved it when Zion was looking for direction on how to create a romantic evening full of sexytime for Vivian, and a bunch of romance readers weighed in with their favorite tropes.

Vivian is well-described as a hurricane. She’s definitely a force of nature in personality and suffers no bullsh-t. She’s intrepid and warm and basically a good person. She’s very good at righteous anger without being insufferable. At the start of the book, she is searching for her missing sister Gemma, a quest that introduces her to…

Zion. Who is a hot as heck biker with authority and a serious amount of sexy. Sometimes an @hole, but still fascinating. He feels connected to Vivian in a soul-shaping way. And he has a very careful sense of right and wrong, as well as a finely tuned sense of interpersonal politics. He and Vivian are fire.

The paranormal aspects I am not going to speak of here because I don’t want to give spoilers. All I will say about it is it’s epic.

I highly recommend this book and I will be hunting the author’s backlist, because if her other books are as good as this one, I am going to be one very, very big fan. As it is, I am a very happy reader right now because of this book, although the book hangover is going to be a whopper.

A few stats:
MMC/FMC- Zion and Vivian
Genre- Paranormal Romance
Heat- open door, explicit, absolutely electric.
Series? Not really necessary, can be read as a standalone.
Safety? Y.
Tropes- Fated Mates, Instalove, The Devil Went Down to Georgia, Dealing with a Narcissist 101, Forced Proximity, Found Family.

Thank you to MercyAnn and Love Notes PR for this ARC. All opinions/reviews are mine and freely given. 🖤

I was very excited to read this based on the tropes and blurb however it did leave me slightly disappointed. It felt like MercyAnn was trying to fit too much into this story given the length and I was left confused at several points. I did think this might have been a fanfic for an established universe turned published work because of how much context I seemed to be missing but I don’t think this is the case based on her authors notes at the end.

I enjoyed the opening with the bar scene as it set up Vivian’s strong, fighter qualities and her protective streak very well and it allowed us to be introduced to Zion is a natural way however this scene then didn’t fit well with the rest of the story. It implied Zion was a leader of sorts amongst these characters but they are never mentioned again. It’s set up that they’re meeting this big boss and Zion seems nervous and it could all go wrong so easily but then it comes to light they’re all friends?

Gemma was seen to be in a cage to Vivian but she actually wasn’t and she was free and on the run?

Our lack of understanding the magic in this world was a tactic (I think) that meant we learnt along with Vivian but it didn’t work as I imagine MercyAnn had planned (in my case anyway) as I was left confused for a large part of the third act (and most of the second honestly).

I enjoyed the pacing of this book for the most part as it moved things along quickly however the final standoff felt too rushed and it was over so quickly with Gemma. I don’t entirely understand how Zion was able to unpossess Zion with the arrow and what power the bracelets had… is it manifestation and they do whatever you want?

Overall, I wish I liked this more than I did. It won’t be something I’ll be returning to but I will try some of MercyAnns other works as her creativity is impressive, even if in this case it missed the mark for me.

☠️ Fated Mates meets vigilante supernaturals ☠️

A Devil Doesn't Bargain is a dark, paranormal romance with hints of motorcycle chaos, fated mates and intense suspense. As a standalone novella, it can be read by itself without any attachments to the author's other series.

Our story starts with Vivian, a strong and determined woman who loves her sister, a sister that is now missing. When most people have a family member or loved one missing, they reach out to the cops or maybe a private investigator, but not Vivian. Vivian knows there is more evil in this world than what most people see, this leads Vivian on a hunt to track down her sister on her own and nothing is going to stop her. Vivian enters the world of a cutthroat, ruthless motorcycle club and into the arms of Zion, the club's Sargent at Arms. Their relationship is a morally gray dynamic filled with darkness and intrigue, their connection and chemistry may be hot, but Viv’s search for her sister takes front and center. As Viv’s quest for her sister unfolds, she uncovers more and more of the world that teems below the surface, one filled with demons, injustice and darkness.

I have to say, I was a little confused in parts of this book. There are POV’s where the characters seem to have parts of the story that haven't been shared before, making it feel like parts of the book are missing. Overall I think the storyline is good, even with the parts that feel like they are missing. Viv is a kick-a** character and her relationship with Zion carried the book for sure. The MC was a nice touch and I do enjoy an obsessive/possessive alpha. I’ll be curious to see if anything branches off from this with other side characters, and if it does, I would still give it a read. The author is talented and I still enjoy her books.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 stars) | 🌶🌶 (2 chili peppers)
A Devil Doesn't Bargain, by MercyAnn Summers is a wild ride! At just over 260 pages, I devoured it in 2 sittings. This is a fast, addictive read filled with action, paranormal intrigue, and a central romance that’s both intense and swoony. The tropes are fated mates, close proximity, and plenty of paranormal danger.

Vivian (FMC) is searching for her missing sister, Gemma. One night out with friends leads her straight into trouble—and directly into the path of Zion (MMC). But their meeting is not as coincidental as it seems, because Vivian believes that Zion and his crew may be her only chance at finding Gemma.

A twist: Zion recognizes instantly that he and Vivian are "fated mates". This was my first real experience with the trope, and I loved it. It’s more than twin flames, more than destiny—it’s like discovering the missing half of your soul. MercyAnn Summers does a great job showing the intensity and almost unbearable pull between them, even as Vivian resists and downplays it.

From there, the story plunges into action and mystery: hidden truths about Vivian's sister, shifting alliances, and plenty of danger. Nothing is quite as it seems in this world. Along the way, there are cameos from Camilla and Kaian (from the Chameleon Novella), plus fun group-text appearances from the Ends World crew that made me smile.

The spice is very mild for MercyAnn Summers, but the few scenes were impactful and well-placed. So, not super spicy, but meaningful when it hits.

Overall, the story was fast-paced, exciting, and packed with paranormal dynamics. I really enjoyed the fated mates trope, and the cliffhanger ending has me curious about what’s next. This is a great quick read to add to your paranormal romance shelf.

I love paranormal books - add in a Motorcycle Club element, fated mates, revenge and a badass FMC and I was all in! I was hooked pretty fast on Vivian and Zion’s story - it was a unique take on the paranormal genre and I really enjoyed it!

No spoilers but I LOVED how the title ties into the story! You’ll know when it happens.

I loved Vivian right from the start. She was strong and smart willing to do anything, and I do mean anything to find her sister. We meet Zion and these two have this immediate chemistry. I wasn’t sure what to think of him at first - what were his intentions and was a hero or a villain?

This is one of those stories where you get to slowly unpack the big picture. We get this great slower world building as Vivian peels back the layers that lead to some shocking secrets and betrayal!!

I really liked the over themes of good vs evil and how most people are somewhere in the middle. There are some great side characters (I’m looking at you Cornelius!) and there just might be a few names that look familiar 👀

Also, Seamus is a natural treasure and I will accept zero criticism on this.

While this story wraps up it is left open for hopefully some more from these characters!!

I have never read MercyAnn Summers before and walked in totally blind to this book. The synopsis... yes, I read it, but this book is so much more than that. I'll be honest, it was the title and cover that totally drew me in. Coupled with my zero expectations, this was a ride I loooooved.

At around 260ish pages, the pace is fast, and we move very quickly from scene to scene with our FMC, Vivian. With her sister, Gemma, missing, Vivian is hell-bent on finding her and doling out revenge. What seems like an accidental meeting with Zion, our MMC, is really a set-up by Vivian to enter a different world in order to find Gemma.

The magic system and paranormal elements were really cool. For paranormal, I don't really read much with angels and demons (personal preference), and the magic was system was one I hadn't experienced before (or anything similar either). Toss in that magnetic pull of fated mates, I was on board.

Is everything explained perfectly? No, but I also don't mind filling in some gaps or letting my imagination run wild when need be. If you like everything perfectly spelled out and clarified, then this may not be the book for you.

Now I need to go back and make my TBR weep as I add another backlist to it.

Wow, this was very, very different from what this author usually writes. And I don’t mean this in a bad way at all.

I’m not going to lie, I spent a great deal of time while reading trying to figure out what was going on— the paranormal elements of any story are easier to process and enjoy once the rules of the realm(s) are established. Part of the story here involves the realms being shaky and characters sometimes being sucked out of one realm, passed through a vortex, and then reappearing in another realm. The shakiness reflects the instability resulting from a vacancy of I guess what we would consider a primary ruler. The realms are open for the taking, and its first come, first served, which lends urgency to the events in the book.

I enjoyed the chemistry / bond between Zion and Vivian. I wish the story had a little more backstory for Cornelius and Jacob. It was fun to see the characters of Camilla and Kaian from this author’s Ends World Series make an appearance in this book— those characters feel like old friends after spending so much time reading about their adventures, and it’s always nice to unexpectedly run into old friends.

I think this was my first dark paranormal motorcycle romance. It was an interesting but different (but very enjoyable) ride. I really hope to see more books with these new characters because now I’m invested in this world!

I absolutely loved The Devil Doesn’t Bargain! Mercyann Summers delivered a fast-paced, thrilling ride that kept me hooked from the very first chapter. As a quick reader, I appreciated how the story moved briskly without losing depth or tension.
The standout for me was the female main character Vivian —she’s a total badass in every sense. Strong, smart, and fearless, she steals the show in every scene, especially during her first interaction with the male lead Zion. That moment alone had me grinning and instantly sold me on their dynamic, she walked in handle business then left AS SHE SHOULD👏🏼.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the book, I found myself wishing for just a bit more —more time with the characters, more world-building, more everything (because how can you drop a bomb and then the book finishes😫😫) . That said, the ending left me on the edge of my seat with a cliffhanger I definitely wasn’t prepared for and if you fall in love with characters easily (like first sentence I’m planning my wedding with a fictional character), you’ll definitely see why this cliffhanger had me screaming in my pillow!
Now I’m counting down the days (very impatiently) for the next book. If you’re into sharp characters, high-stakes tension, earth scorching spicy scenes 😉, and a strong female lead who doesn’t take anyone’s nonsense, this book is definitely for you.

This book gave me such intense and addictive vibes from the very first chapter. The plot is dark, dangerous and full of tension, yet it has this magnetic pull that keeps you turning the pages. I loved how Vivian is strong, bold and willing to risk everything for the truth, while Zion is the kind of hero who is all rough edges on the outside but secretly protective and obsessed with his girl. Their chemistry was pure fire and every scene between them had me grinning or holding my breath.
The setting felt gritty and raw, giving that perfect motorcycle club atmosphere, and the paranormal twist made it even more exciting. There were moments of revenge, betrayal and heartbreak, but also those small sweet moments that made my heart melt. The mix of romance, suspense and chaos worked so well together, and by the time I reached the end, I just wanted more of this world and these characters.
If you like a dark romance with danger, passion and a hero who would burn the world for his woman, this one is for you.
Thank you so much lovenotespr for the free ARC!

A Devil Doesn’t Bargain
A Thrilling and Unforgettable Ride!

This book is an absolute thrill ride from start to finish. “A Devil Doesn’t Bargain” plunges you headfirst into a dark and captivating world, and it’s impossible not to get swept up in the chaos.

Vivian Jones is the kind of mmc you root for from the very first page. She’s fierce, determined, and willing to dive into the lion’s den to save her loved one. Her decision to infiltrate a dangerous motorcycle gang is a testament to her strength, and her narration is full of raw emotion and gritty resolve.

The world-building is fantastic, blending the paranormal with the gritty reality of a vigilante motorcycle gang. The hints of “demons/angels” and “fated mates” add a layer of mystical intrigue that perfectly complements the intense, high-stakes plot. And let’s not forget the “obsessive/possessive hero”Zion Cruz sounds like the perfect anti-hero to challenge and complement Vivian.

If you love dark romance with a paranormal twist, a strong-willed heroine, and a morally gray hero, this book is for you. It’s an unputdownable story of revenge, betrayal, and a love that defies all odds. Highly, highly recommend!

I want to be really honest with this one. I originally applied for the ARC based on the cover and the tropes that instantly caught my attention. At the time, there wasn’t a blurb, so I went into it completely blind, which can be exciting but also a little unpredictable.

I’ll admit, I did have some trouble connecting with the story at first. It wasn’t quite what I’m used to, and I found myself taking a little longer than usual to settle into the writing. I gave it a second read, and while I understood it more the second time around, I think I would’ve benefitted from reading some of the author’s previous books to get a better feel for their style and storytelling voice.

That being said, I don’t think this is a “bad” book at all, it simply wasn’t the perfect fit for me personally. I do love the idea of what I understood from the storyline, and I can absolutely see how this could be a book that connects deeply with other readers. In fact, I can already think of a few of my Besties who might love this one.

Even though it didn’t fully click for me, I truly respect the work and heart that goes into writing and publishing a book. So I want to say a big, heartfelt congratulations to the author on release day, it’s such a huge accomplishment, and one that deserves to be celebrated.

This was my first paranormal romance book that I’ve read in years! Amazing and intriguing is an understatement. From the beginning, I was pulled into the book trying to figure out who Zion really was. The mystery and horror element intertwined with the paranormal aspect fit perfectly together and really grabbed my attention! Finding out the story behind Vivian’s “sister” was shocking and was an exciting twist to the story.

Zion and Vivian had an instant connection that Zion tried so hard not to give into. He fought back and forth with his feelings in an attempt to not bring harm to Vivian. As soon as he gave into his desires, they were like a match to a flame. Their chemistry was off the charts and insanely hot. Zion’s protective nature with Vivian was the icing on the cake. He vowed to protect her and never let anyone or anything hurt her.

Vivian was such a strong female after being thrown into a world she knew nothing about. She not only fought for her safety but for her love with Zion as well. She refused to give in and fought till the end because she knew what was at stake. She dove head first into something she knew very little about because she knew it was her destiny.

Mercyann has dipped her toes into the PNR world and she delivered such a delicious story with A Devil Doesn’t Bargain! This one follows Vivian and Zion, and it’s packed with layers, twists, surprises, and plenty of WTF moments that kept me hooked.

I really loved Vivian’s journey—the slow, arduous process of her understanding and remembering was so well done. And Zion? Ugh, the way he’s unbelievably drawn to her but can’t rush things, even though you know he wants to—it made their dynamic all the more intense. Of course, leave it to Cornelius to just insert himself and “help” expedite the process, lol.

Vivian and Zion’s chemistry is fantastic, and I also really enjoyed the found family elements woven throughout. And can we talk about the FAAFO ladies cameo? It was brief but such a treat—I’ve missed those ladies!

Overall, this was a fun, twisty read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Special thanks to the author for the gifted copy 🖤

thanks to MercyAnn Summers and LoveNotes PR for the opportunity to read this eARC.
the blurb for this book caught my attention so quickly! motorcycle romance and paranormal? Sign me up immediately! But ultimately I feel like a lot of the book fell short or was confusing while reading.
I do want to start out by saying that the first 40% had me hooked! Camilla and Kaian are hilarious supporting characters. I loved the main characters as well and could kind of push away all the things that weren’t being explained (mainly their bond/paranormal existence)
I felt a bit led astray by the MC trope, other than them riding on motorcycles and going to the “club”, is that where all the other demons were? I didn’t really get a whole lot of MC vibes.
and then once we got to Hell is where everything got so confusing for me. I just couldn’t figure out what was really happening between Gemma and the gold floaty thing and the realms shifting. The premise seems so cool and I think it would be amazing if it could have been explained more but unfortunately this book fell flat for me. But I will say I was intrigued by the cliffhanger at the end! It certainly seems like there will be another book!

The concept and cover for this book definitely drew me in originally. I haven't heard of MercyAnn Summers before, so I went in sort of blind. But romance? Check. Paranormal? Check. Fated mates? Check. I was all in!

This book for me worked, but only if you take it on as a surface level. The plot development reads more like a novella to me because of the lack of information we get. I do feel like at first, it works pretty well. Vivian doesn't understand, so we as the viewers don't understand. And then I suppose when it switches POV, Cato doesn't really need to *explain* it because he already knows. But I feel like the book ends with a strong lack of clarity still. I don't understand what happened aside from that Maybe I just missed some things and I'm a bit confused.

I still rated it at 3 because I do see potential, and like I said I enjoyed the concept. I finished the book, and if I take it as "well, that's what we get" then it's enjoyable. I just can't start thinking into all the things I don't understand lol. Maybe they're explained a bit more in the other books, so that's why I'm a bit at a loss.
