So intense you forget to breathe or you have to get up and walk around a bit. I admire Sadie Gray so much! She's the perfect combination of complicated. I will be reading more about her.
I Didn't leave a review for the first book because honestly, I didn't really know how to feel about it and wanted to read the second book to see for sure how I felt about it and if i wanted to continue the series or not.
I liked book 2 way more, I feel like I was used to Sadie and Brad more in this one, Like I knew where I stood with them.
Now the romance in this series has me eying everything, I like Cassius, he's interesting and sounds hot and good....butttt I like Brad more, but I honestly can't tell if there's something genuinely brewing with Brad or not, and I'm not the biggest on the whole love triangle, and having to eventually choose one (I'm always worried I'm going to end up liking the one the mc doesn't choose) but at the same time nothing romantic has happened nor has any relationships or sexy time happened between any of them so we'll see how that goes.
I liked the plot and killer in this one better than the first one, I like the details, and I liked the ending it had with Sadie
I like how we get to see Sadie be affected by things, she has nightmares and bad moments.
Echoing other reviews. I enjoyed the second book in the series more than the first. I felt like we got to learn more about both protagonists, and I am excited to learn more about Brad’s background and motives throughout the series.
As it relates to Sadie, I feel like her actions sometimes are at odds with one another. Blackwood and others commend her feminism and alliance toward women, but she is repeatedly misogynistic and also plays into a lot of the jokes her coworkers make. She seems to both love and hate women, and I’m not sure if that is intentional or if it’s more of a character development issue. I understand the FBI culture that the authors try and highlight, but they seem to choose when Sadie wants to play into the culture in ways that contradict one another in my opinion.
I would have loved more imagery about the home and the killers apparent body modifications, but the development of the killer in this book far exceeded the first.
This was a good thriller, maybe a little better than the last. Probably another 3.7 rounded down for reasons such as this...
called to the scene of a possible kidnapping/murder and below is the dialog.
“What happened to your face?” Deputy Lopez finally asked.
“She’s the agent from ‘The 34 in the Floor’ murders,” Deputy Blane said, suddenly sounding awestruck.
“No shit,” Lopez said, surprised. “You looked so much hotter on TV.”
Just ridiculous 😩😂
Other than that, I do genuinely like the books although the authors apparent obsession with killers taking victims eyeballs. Two books in a row with that. I like them more than my reviews seem.
This is my second book of this series and it was a little dark at times but brilliantly written. I enjoy psychological crime books and this series fits the bill for me. "The Sight Unseen" is about an artist with a bizaare obsession with eyes and a equally crazy way of using his captives in his paintings. Sadie Gray is again featured as a rookie FBI agent that is driven by her past and has an extremely efficient talent for profiling. She is one tough cookie and takes more abuse than most men could withstand. I especially like that this author does not use unneeded foul verbage. Now that I have read book 2 and 3 my next read will be #1, ""The Blinding Light" the original story of Sadie Gray. I plan to read the entire series and highly recommend it to fellow psycho thriller readers
I did not think I could find another book series that surpassed my favorite psych horror writer, but I have. Am on my third Sadie & Brad book and am in love. I find myself holding my breath,or my heart pounding. They are terrifying, gruesome, scary, heart pounding, All the way to the end. Its rare that I read the second book of a series to find the same gripping, descriptive events, but I am on my third one and hope it continues. BTW I especially love the inventive ways to kill people.
This book had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning and never let up. The plot touched emotions I normally don't experience while reading, a very wide range, sadness, fear and disgust. I couldn't put the book down, not often am I so engaged in a book, it was like the world outside the book vanished. This author now among my favorites, didn't have any experience with the author before I started this series. I will be binge reading the rest for sure.
I like the story line but found myself skipping entire chapters that were nothing more than silly banter between two agents. It took away from the mystery of the killer and the thrill of the chase. I wanted to know what was going on with the killer and the victims. Far less interested in the quips, sexual innuendos and pages of relentless banter between two agents. If the next book is more of the same it will be my last.
Brad and Sadie catch a missing persons case that turns into something worse...much worse. It is not clear whether the missing woman is alive or, ultimately, whether any of them will survive.
This 2nd book in the series is a fast-paced thriller with a few twists and turns. These 2 FBI agents are fearless and the cases they solve are very intense, gruesome and will blow your mind. it’s hard to put down these books. Anxiously waiting for #3. You must check out this new series by Ryan.
This is the second book in this series. I have enjoyed both publications and I am familiar with the characters! Each personality is well developed and keeps you involved in the actual story. I am excited to read more Sadie Gray mysteries.
I don't usually leave reviews but this author has dragged through the serial killer story but threw in a ton of humor and I am hooked. I will be reading the rest of this authors books!
Are these suppose to be young adult fiction? The attempt to make the main character dark, brooding, and troubled is just awkwardly written and jist comes across as being someone who didn't get what she wanted in life.
Really loving this series - it’s like a perfect combo of Bones + Criminal Minds + NCIS with witty banter, procedural details, intense (and often pretty f*cked up serial killers 🙃) Excited to jump into the next book in Sadie’s story!
This is a short story about Sadie and her sister getting kidnapped when they were young girls. I read it after 34 in the floor but it sheds light on what happened to her and her sister as a child. It’s worth the read.
Once again this book in this series was intense. In the last chapter I expected the artist to still be alive and continue. Thankfully he was dead. The only thing I didn't like was how the author keeps going on about hot Sadie is. Enough is enough.
A slow start for me. The story picked up afterwards. You have sick (Awful) characters. Your mind must be demented. But then, I'm reading the books. Keep them coming.
