Another exceptional glimpse into the Ravaged Skies universe!
Fear The Dark, book 1 in TW Piperbrook's addition to the Ravaged Skies universe tells the story of Sam and Maddie, along with a cast of secondary characters and an escaped convict who feels he has unfinished business with Sam, immediately prior to and in the immediate aftermath of of a devastating CME. Like other books in the Ravaged Skies universe, Fear The Dark is, unsurprisingly, relentlessly dark. This is another piece of standout apocalyptic fiction! The main, and secondary characters are very well written, the descriptions of the events and environments are immaculately composed and the dialogue is realistic and very well written. I had no doubts about the quality of Fear The Dark, having read most of Piperbrook's previously published books, and loved them, but I was still surprised at just how good the book turned out to be! Other followers of Ravaged Skies will likely note what I believe to be the first connection to another author's contribution to Ravaged Skies! I won't give it away, but perceptive readers will spot it. 5/5 stars, highly, highly recommended for fans of apocalyptic survival thrillers, especially those who are fans of Ravaged Skies or any other post-EMP/CME survival thrillers. With so much left up in the air, waiting for book 2 will be hard!

Fantastic book
I was honoured to be asked to proofread this book, this is one of my favourite authors so I was beyond thrilled to be asked.😃. This is a fantastic story, it's a little different to the kind of stories he usually writes however it is an amazing book. I loved it so much I read it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. It follows the story of a mother and daughter and their neighbours after everything shuts down because the power goes out, therefore anything that is powered by electric or had electronics in it dies causing chaos. It also follows the story of a prisoner who was getting transferred when the world turned into chaos which of course he takes full advantage of. As you would expect from Piperbrook this story is well written and leaves you desperately wanting to know what happens next. I can't wait for the next book in this series

Samantha Young and her young daughter Maddie are in the witness protection system after Sam testified against the man who attacked her. They are trying to build a new life when an airliner falls from the sky near her farm when a solar flare knocks out all technology. Along with 3 neighbors they hit the road not knowing her attacker has escaped and is on his way to finish his fantasy. Another great addition to the A Ravaged Skies series.

I’ve read and enjoyed a lot of Piperbrooks novels, but I really had to make myself read this one to the end. Formulaic,
unrealistic, broken style … just terrible sorry.
