A compelling read
This is the sixth book of Jason Chapman's Marc Fagan stories set in Wales. Each of them is set in the present day, with flashbacks to DI Fagan's earlier life, growing up as a bit of a tearaway who leaves the area under a cloud before returning many years later a much reformed character. This time, it's different, with the bulk of the book set in 1980 when he was a young teenager.
As ever, this author represents very well the attitudes and language of the times very well. He has a pithy, no holds barred stgle of writing. I'm familiar with the Abergavenny area where the series is centred, and he describes it very accurately. It's a very good book.
