PARIS When writer David Thompson receives a large envelope with a Paris postmark, he's intrigued. The sender, an elderly woman, has promised to reveal secrets from World War II. David, who is writing the biography of a prominent American from that era and his travels to Paris, decides to send Miranda Farrell, his research assistant, to meet with the elderly woman.
There, Miranda also meets Gus O'Neil who has reluctantly accepted an assignment by the FBI to investigate her. Due to her previous travels as a courier, she has triggered the agency's interest. But not only do the contents of the envelope lead Miranda to the elderly woman, they also lead her to danger. Together, Gus and Miranda become involved in a romantic adventure.
A romantic, dangerous and informative exploration of Paris now and during World War I I. Miranda and Gus followed the stollen money and jewels stolen from the Jews being sent to concentration camps. Discovering the connection of wealthy Americans especially one political family who supported the Nazi movement and overtake of Paris proves extremely dangerous. I received the book as an arc from Hidden Gems and I am voluntarily submitting my review.
