When a traumatic event leads to more devastating news, Lilly Marie knows it’s time to return to her mother’s home and figure out how to say goodbye. The last thing she expects is for Justin Hayes to walk back into her life as quickly as he’d walked out. She's not sixteen anymore but the man still causes feelings inside her she can’t fight. While she struggles to keep him on the fringes of the chaos, her logic gives way to lust and Justin discovers the truth. The more he learns the more determined he is to stand by her side, fully understanding that even as their love grows, her life fades and their time will again come full circle.
Jacqueline grew up in the rural southeast and is the youngest child of a large and rowdy family. Reading was an escape when there wasn't much else around to do. She loves everything from classical literature to true crime and everything in between.
With a day job, and pursuing her dream job of writing, she plots a steamy combination of real life and what if...and then characters come along and completely derail the plan. Letting them have their say provides plenty of sleepless nights and an endless combination of coffee and wine, but she hopes you enjoy their stories.
This was a fast sweet read about second chances. This is the first book I have read from this author and I look forward to reading more from her too.
There is a lot that happens in this story and I really felt for Lilly. Her life is sorta in shambles and she seems to get bad news and more bad news delivered her way often. Then there is David, and what Lilly has to deal with from him and lets just say at one point in the story I was wishing that the author would just let David get hit by a truck or something, maybe a meteor or trampled by a herd of cows.......That doesn't happen but I can tell you that there are consequences for his actions.
Now for the second chance aspect of this novella, and my most favorite part. Justin....He was sweet and I feel so bad that there was a lack of communication when they were younger. But they were young and that happens when your young sometimes you make rash decisions. But they lost so much time!
The one thing I wish there was more of was the discussion on things that transpired between Justin and Lilly when they were young. I just loved them together, and this is the hard part about novella there just isn't enough room for more meat to the story. That's not to say that I didn't like the story either. Lilly needed to have a man that would love her and take care of her and she got that with Justin.
The story touches on some tuff subjects. The characters problems are real and could happen to anyone. Which leads me to the ending of this book, it is final and its so final that my heart broke.....but it was worth the read.
If you are looking for a fast sweet yet steamy story about second chances this is it. Try it out and be on the look out for more from this author, I will be.
This book was awesome, I really didn't want to put it down, it sucks you in. the ending was good but also sad at the same time. looking forward to read more of Jacqueline's books.
