Owen would destroy anyone who hurt me.
Which is why I can't tell him the team's new rookie did exactly that.

Life should be perfect.
I'm engaged to Owen Sharpe.
We're having a baby.
And my career is finally back on track.

But there's one
The rookie player everyone's calling the future of the Houston Scythes?
He's the man who destroyed my life once before.
And now, his father is buying the team.

Spencer Santos has always been dangerous.
But with his daddy's money behind him, he's lethal.
And he's made it my silence comes with a price.

I could tell Owen the truth.
He'd burn down the world to protect me.
But that's exactly what I'm afraid of.

Because this time?
Spencer isn't just after me.
He's after everything—and everyone—I love.

PUCK PRINCESS is the second book in the Houston Scythes Hockey duet. The story begins in Book 1 of the series, PUCK PRINCE.

I just couldn’t finish this duet. When the FMC is as stupid as she is weak, it is even surprising I managed to get this far.

*Check TW: there is a surprise pregnancy trope, mention of past SA in flashbacks

Okay. This is weird for me because I usually sprinkle 5 stars on these duets like confetti. I think I just didn't vibe with this one. There were a lot of good things with this book, a lot of things I enjoyed. The chemistry between Callie and Owen is fantastic, I love the relationships with their respective besties. That's about it though... The miscommunication trope is still alive and well, and that's a little frustrating. We got Summer kinda worked out, but you would think after all the secret keeping drama from before, it would STOP. But, nope. Everyone just wanna "protect" each other from themselves instead of talking. I thought Miles was super creepy in the first book, but Spencer was just gross with his spoiled rich baby attitude. Then, I'm a sucker for great teammates as side characters but except for Lance they're all a bunch of overgrown frat boys and not really likeable, ugh. And I had issues with her "I love her like my daughter" uncle that didn't really treat her all that great throughout both books. I really think this could have been better if there was more growth or maybe dialing down the secrets/miscommunication and using it for talking through trauma and the benefits from therapy? And what happened with Kennedy and Lance????? I'm really hoping the reason that went unanswered because they'll get their own story, but since every duet has been a different team, I'm not sure :(
Even with all this, I'm still a huge Mariah Wolfe fan. Sometimes, I just don't vibe with a book and that's happened with pretty much every author I've read. I look forward to the next duet, can't wait to see which city we go to next.

I thought this was a strong follow up to an excellent book. Callie and Owen are well-written characters and I do love the Fake-Relationship-Turned-Real trope. Kennedy and Lance have excellent chemistry in that Love-to-Hate-You way. Kennedy is who I want to be when I grow up (although I don’t know when that’s going to happen seeing as how I’m over 50…). I really, really want to read their story next. The extended epilogue made me very happy- be sure to read it.
The sexytime is off-the-charts hot and Owen, well, there’s a reason that his name starts with the letter “O”.

Here’s the breakdown:
MMC/FMC- Owen and Callie
Genre- Sports Romance (hockey)
Length- novel
Heat- I found it incredibly hot. They do the things and use the P word.
Series? Y; part two of a duet
Safety? N. There’s SA. It doesn’t happen on page, but it’s discussed in flashbacks and memories. No cheating.
Other triggers- violence, explicit erotic content, stalking, language, exploding pucks.
Tropes- Fake-Relationship-Turned-Real, Surprise Pregnancy, Ebil Ex, # MeToo, Enemies to Lovers.

This was a sweet, albeit angsty ending for Callie and Owen. I loved both of these characters, especially Owen because he really stepped it up this go round.

Owen was the star of this book. He grew as a character and matured into a great man. He was protective and adoring with Callie. I felt bad that he beat himself up so much for things that were out of his control. Overall I think he handled things well and he got bonus points for being so sweet!

I was a little disappointed with Callie. I know her heart was in the right place but please speak up! I'm a big fan of the truth so it bothered me that she kept secrets. I did like that she found her strength and protected those she cared about.

I'm intrigued and invested in Kennedy and Lance and need to know what went down between them! They were just so intense whenever they were together. I hope we get more from them in the future.

I was on the edge of my seat while reading this and couldn't put it down. I'm happy with how it all played out and enjoyed the story immensely. I really liked all the characters and the writing was well done. I would definitely recommend this one!!

I loved this one so much more than the first!

This one flows so much better than the first! The chemistry was always there in the first book, but one or both were always throwing something in the way. This one they finally figured it out.

The drama is so much more in this book! You find out what all went down at Callie’s first job (even if you had it figured out it still hurts)! The Santos men are causing so many problems! Seriously Spencer has Miles beat and Miles is not nice! So be ready!

The trust was there with Owen, yes Callie had trouble finally telling Owen what was going on, but she had her reasons.

The side characters really help in this one to the banter is still amazing between Callie and Owen but through in Lance and Kennedy you will be rolling. The rest of the team isn’t bad either I do wish they weren’t so annoying and exciting. Professional Hockey players have to work hard and earn their spots. Spencer didn’t

All in all I really did enjoy this duet. I highly recommend it. You’ll love the chemistry, the laughter, and energy.

Owen and Callie and of course the villian Spencer her ex. The boys are hockey players. Qwen and Callie are together and have a child. Spencers father buys the team and with ownership comes Spencer the hot new rookie. Full of trouble and chaos. Hes causing all kinds of trouble for everyone. Callie is trying to keep her past secret from Owen and his temper and Spencer keeps pushing his way in. This is a rollercoaster ride of feelings and emotions that the author brings to you and you can feel Callies anger, fear and her fight and protectivness. The only thing I can say is maybe shes a little too protective. But these charecters are wonderful and this is a great read.

Typos, so many typos

Does this author not have an editor, proofreader, or even a grammar checker? The sheer amount of typos that are actual words, but clearly NOT the word meant for the situation, is astonishing and distracting from the overall storyline.
Possible spoler---
Also, the fact that a main subcharacter has their drink messed with at a bar and, while a main character had the foresight to take a picture of the assailants license, instead of taking the victim to the hospital or going to the police, they just calmly tuck them into bed - this, while incredibly stupid plot wise is also incredibly stupid irl because some of the things can accidentally unalive a person, not to mention the list of victims need to be documented.

HEA ✔️

This is book 2 of the duet and picks up where book 1 left off.

Callie's ex Spencer is back in her life and causing big issues for everyone. And I do mean everyone. He's the perfect example of a privileged ⚪️🧍‍♂️with more 💲than 🧠 and his repeated SA of women makes me 🤬. And while I completely understand where Callie is coming from and why she's so afraid to tell Owen just who Spencer is in the beginning of the book, I feel like it could've alleviated some of the drama, if she'd just told hot-headed Owen sooner...

I'm still invested in what's going on between Kennedy and Lance.

I was a little less impressed with Callie’s behavior in the conclusion of her’s and Owen’s story. I mean, she’s literally making the exact same mistake she made in Puck Prince. Keeping the secret identity of a rapist from Owen, while making everyone miserable until it all blows up in her face. Come clean already and save everyone the headache.
There were times where the story was dramatic and explosive. It seemed like Callie was pregnant forever but I wanted to know how this would all play out. The ending didn’t disappoint. I gave it 4 stars.

Just wow, that was a wild ride. I dove right into this book after not being able to put the first one down. I knew it was going to be intense and it did not disappoint. Callie and Owen deal with some hard issues and Mariah Wolfe did a great job showing the fear and anger. I loved that through all this Callie rose and stood up for herself and others. Such a strong message. Callie and Owen were an amazing couple and I loved everything about them. This is my new favorite!

This book... It has THE BEST Proposal Scene I have EVER read! So powerful. So emotional. Such imagery!

I love Owen and Callie's story. And the suspense/intrigue is remarkable! And the way that Kennedy and Callie get their revenge is amazing!

Do I hope that Kennedy and Lance get an HEA? Yes. Yes I do. lol...

But this was an amazing ending to this Duet! I loved it!.

such a good ending!!

This is a really good story, there are times in it though like you just wanna reach to the book and strangle Callie!! Like you just want to tell her to freaking tell somebody and get the situation under control. But I also understood her being scared and not wanting to ruin anything. I love the fact that Owen just kept falling in love with her more and more and just to see their relationship bloom.

Better than the first of the duet. I strongly believe the duet could have been condensed into a single book without the excess side plots. The entire Miles scenario didn’t add much to the story and took focus from what was most important…two broken people learning to trust in themselves and being strong enough to admit when they needed support of others.

This is the second part of a duet, the "Houston Scythes Hockey" duet. It is about Callie and Owen. This is an interesting and intriguing story with some enemies, love, fake, hurt and complications. I enjoyed the story from beginning! they need to be read in order. I loved seeing how their story developed and finished.

I was really loving book 1 and I don't dislike any of 1 or 2 but it was just too long..... like how many bad guys and situations are we gonna have to deal with and Callie keeping everything a secret to protect someone. I just got bored and found myself scanning just to see what would happen.

Can anyone do me a solid and tell me if the baby does in fact belong to Owen?

Callie & Owen

These two so deserved happiness after everything. This story had me hanging on to every word hoping for different things and I love it. The jackass ex got what he deserved that’s for sure. But I would love to see what Happens with Lance and Kennedy those two crack me up. Great story!

Tropes: hockey romance, HEA.

The continuation and ending from Puck Prince that is filled with drama and laughter.

Callie's past is back to haunt her. The very one she moved to Houston to get away from and start a new life. Can Owen and Callie work through these unexpected issues after finally navigating and defining their relationship, and with a baby on the way?

The conclusion to this duet and it wraps up Callie and Owen’s story. Callie is making the same mistakes as the first book, so it made this one book a little drawn out. Owen had so much patience when it came to her.

There didn’t seem to be much growth, as the secrets, lies and miscommunication continued through the second book.

Book two…

So, Callie didn’t want to date another hockey player. Because she’s been there, fine that and got burned by Spencer before. Then she got together with Owen. Things should be dandy. But Spencer’s on the team and his daddy just bought the team.

Absolutely amazing stroy. There are so many emotions! I feel like I've just gotten off an emotional rollercoaster. I honestly, I'm dizzy from it. I'm just so annoyed about the continuity issues in both books

I enjoyed reading this book once I got past some editing errors. I counted maybe 6 typos. There should be a trigger warning up front for SA and DV. I thought the ending seemed a little bit rushed, but it all came together with the epilouges.
