Rate this book
This is book 26 in the Sweet Cove paranormal cozy mystery series by USA TODAY Bestselling Author J.A. Whiting.

A cozy mystery with recipes.

It is early May in the pretty seaside town of Sweet Cove, Massachusetts.

The Roseland sisters and Mr. Finch are sitting on the front porch enjoying the warm weather, but Angie and Mr. Finch have been feeling off all day and wonder what kind of a mystery is headed their way. They don’t have to wait long to find out. Chief Martin arrives and asks for their help.

A wealthy older couple in Silver Cove were robbed the night before of some important paintings including one by Renoir and another by Pissarro. The heist seems to have been professionally planned but carried out by amateurs.

There are plenty of suspects to confuse matters, so the Roseland sisters, Mr. Finch, Chief Martin, and two fine felines must get to the bottom of the artful mystery before some people lose their lives.

Cool excerpt from this book:

“Sometimes, Angie thought, the best thing to do is to simply keep moving forward, keeping one eye on the shadows while still walking in the light.”

Reminds me of ‘keep your enemies closer.’

This one had me reading and reading, on the edge of my seat until I finished it. I only took the usual breaks of showering and taking the trash out without bringing my Kindle with me.

I liked reading about the four different personalities of the sisters and not only their various careers, but also their individual… powers. Mr. Finch is not a new character, but I feel he’s always been a wonderful addition to their family. I’m happy they “adopted” him as their grandpa. He is so patient and wise. Every story should have a sage character.

I definitely can’t forget to mention Circe and Euclid - those two have their own special and unique personalities full of intuition. They’re like two furry little kids they’re so human-like.

Facts about the 2 cats names:

Circe - powerful enchantress/sorceress and minor goddess in Greek mythology. Well-known for her exceptional talent of mixing drugs (potions) and vast knowledge of magic, particularly the ability to transform humans into animals using potions and herbs… and essential oils? Lol. Odysseus was her most well-known-to-us-today lover whose men she initially turned into swine upon their arrival on her island on their way home from the Trojan War. Circe ultimately fell in love with Odysseus and they had three sons together.

Euclid - known as the “father of geometry”. His most influential work “Elements” laid the foundation for geometric principles that are still taught and applied in mathematics today. What is crazy is that “Elements” was written somewhere around 300 BCE. Do you understand the craziness of this?! B.C.E.! That stands for Before Christian Era which was before Jesus was born. 300 BCE was 2,325 years ago and Euclid’s geometric elements are still used today! Amazing!

Ok, back to the book review… the four sisters are witches. I’m not sure what other descriptive word to use for them except ‘witches’. They use their powers and intuition for good and not evil. There hasn’t been much magic used by the sisters throughout this series and that has been my only complaint/critique. What the sisters, Mr. Finch, and even the cats primarily rely on is their intuition when helping police to solve a crime. They rely heavily on the “Trust your gut” theory.

Initially, there wasn’t a murder, rather there was an art theft in the home of two well-known upper-class community members. The stolen goods were valued at $20-million. As the sisters begin to dig into the backgrounds of the art owners, their families, and everyone that has recently been in contact with them , the siblings find there are many layers to peel through in order to get to the truth.

We also see how Angie’s daughter and niece have their own intuitions that are developing and her daughter actually helped identify a crucial character of the plot. I can’t wait to see what else they can do! I believe the little girls are close to 4-years-old.

Unfortunately, a homocide or two or three does occur eventually, but ultimately the truth makes its way to the sisters who help solve the question of whodunnit. When two of the four siblings are face-to-face with the killer, one of the sisters saves not only the day, but she saves her sister using one of her special gifts (powers). This part is really the only place where magical powers are displayed. But, it’s a pretty cool scene!

I enjoyed this. Make sure that if you plan to read this book that you don’t start here, rather start with book 1 so you really get to know everyone. This book can be read as a standalone, but it’ll be better if you begin at the beginning. 😆

My next choice from my “To Read” list is book 33, “Kidnapped in the Kitchen” by Kathi Daley from her The Inn at Holiday Bay series.

So long!
Deuces to your cabooses! ✨🤩✨

Beautiful Dreamers and Ghost Seers!

"Sweet Lost and Found" is Book 26 of J. A. Whiting's A Sweet Cove Mystery series. As I have previously mentioned, this is one of my favorite cozy mystery series, with each book better than the last one.I will begin this review by clarifying the above title. Angie is the eldest of the four Roseland sisters. She has paranormal powers; one of them includes psychic dreams. But wait a minute! I have dreamers, as in plural, in the title. Her little 4 year old daughter, Gigi, has inherited the "psychic dreams" gift from her mother. Jenna is Angie's twin sister, but born a couple of minutes after Angie, making Jenna the second of the Roseland sisters. Throughout this series, Jenna has seen ghosts, especially of her maternal grandmother, Nana, who had also had powers herself. Nana had even helped the Chief of Police before she died. Jenna's little 4 year old daughter, Libby, has inherited this gift from her own mama. The third sister is Ellie. She has an amazing telekenetic power that has been seen in a few of the previous books, but this astounding power literally saves Angie's life in this book. Ellie's powers remind me of the main girl character in the movie "Sky High" about a school full of paranormal kids. This girl could grow plants, her hair levitating all around her. While Ellie doesn't grow plants, her hair rises softly around her head and she manages to telekenetically twist pistol barrels , rendering them unable to shoot bullets. Wow! I wish I had a power like that. Courtney is sister number four. Her powers are more subtle. She is able to sense things about people by touching them, as in shaking hands. All four sisters are married to really good men. So far, only one of these men has special powers: Courtney's husband Rufus. Rufus has the ability to light candles with fire coming out of his fingers. He saved one of the sister's life in a previous book by throwing fire balls at the bad guy near a lake. He also saved Courtney in a previous episode; when her hair caught on fire from a barbecue pit, he held her hair in his hands and expunged the fire. Mr. Finch, the sisters' adopted family member also has special powers. And, last but not least, the family cats, Euclid and Circe, have an extraordinary sixth sense of knowing when one of their family members is in danger.

In this episode, the four sisters help solve the case of who stole famous artworks from several wealthy households in Sweet Cove and surrounding cities. Then, they have to figure out who murdered an art appraiser, as well as a couple of other murders. The two little girls in the family, Gigi and Libby, also help their mothers with a clue about "the bad man at the festival."

I gave this book 5 big fat stars, but it really deserves about 100 stars. I received an advanced reader's copy via BookFunnel, and this is my honest and totally voluntary review.

Excellent! Great story, very different from the previous few books. I always enjoy visiting in Sweetwater Cove with this delightful , ever expanding family. The youngest ones, Gigi and Libby, are now toddlers and are showing the unusual abilities that their mothers and aunts have developed. Libby sights one of the “ bad guys” and tells her Mom she does not like that bad man. Gigi wakes from a dream to tell her Mom that the bad guy is watching their house! Which he is!! Very involved , lots of suspects but it is all solved very quickly , near end of book, but Angie’s “ vision”! Delightful, fun, reading experience!!

The Roseland sisters and Mr. Finch are back! This time the theft of stolen art puts the group in danger. The sisters must use their powers to keep their family safe and find the thieves before they become the next targets!

I love this series. The sisters have grown throughout the books and now have families of their own. I especially like seeing Ellie come into her powers and who could forget the fantastic felines, Euclid and Circe!

Settle in for another visit to Sweet Cove and mystery!

Hard to put down!!!

Every time I start a new Sweet Cove story, I can’t stop reading and dreading the end of another wonderful adventure with Mr. Finch and the Roseland family. I really enjoyed the descriptions of the gowns the women wore to the fundraiser. Very suspenseful ending. Great job as always.

Another sweet addition to the series, I tend to enjoy the books that involve stolen art, but here we got a bonus of a few murders to investigate as well.

I binged this series and I hope there’s far more to go. I enjoyed all 26. I personally identified with the baking and catering industry as I was a chef for 45 years and I had a cake and catering company as my side hustle.
