A city girl with a secret, a shy cowboy, and some mis-placed mistletoe; a recipe for disaster? Or a confection perfect for Christmas—and a life-time of happy New Years?
When Cara Fernley literally runs away from a bad relationship and ends up in a small Montana town at the onset of the holidays, she only expects to fill up her tank, grab a bite to eat, and perhaps spend the night in her old pickup. But when an assistant manager job at the burger joint practically falls in her lap, and the climatized storage units across the street spawns an idea for a more-than-cheap place to live, she decides to stay awhile. At least until she can get back on her feet and her heart has a chance to heal. That is until a handsome cowboy surprises her with a kiss under the mistletoe, and everything changes. She can’t let her heart take a chance on another guy. But more than that; she can’t get involved because where would she tell the guy to come and hang out or pick her up? To make matters worse she discovers her actions are not only prohibited by law, but the cowboy with whom she is falling in love has a connection with in the storage units. Does she run away from a good relationship to avoid exposure; continue to lie to a man she loves; or share her secrets and risk losing everything?
About my writing: I don't like to write candy for the brain. But I do like to try to make my books not only fulfilling, but entertaining. Candy is nice, but a meal of meat, potatoes, and veges can leave you more satisfied. My books give the reader a good taste of history and/or science along with a dash of mystery folded into the story.
About me: I've always loved writing, but haven't gotten serious until the past seven years. When I'm not writing, I like to garden, sew, fix up old houses, or anything else creative. My favorite movies are ones about history.
I love Christmas stories! Especially the joy and happiness that is found within the pages. This one was full of hope and sweet new beginnings. Cara is getting out of a bad relationship and finds herself in a small town in Montana with her last small amount of cash. I loved her ingenuity in trying to figure out what she was going to do and seeing the goodness of the people she meets. Especially that cute cowboy Dustin!
This is a novella but was still very satisfying in the story feeling complete and Cara and Dustin getting that happily ever after. They were adorable. Dustin is the perfect gentleman cowboy. You'll be swooning over his character and his flirting. Cara sure does! ;-) And I loved their little stake out. *Happy sigh*
Grab this one and snuggle up with your comfy blanket to enjoy an enjoyable Christmas story that can be read in one sitting!!!
Content: Clean.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are mine.
In my opinion, all Christmas novellas should be made into Hallmark movies. This book is just so cute and a quick read. It is Christmas goodness.
The FMC finds herself in a small town after leaving a toxic relationship. The MMC is a rugged entrepreneur and cowboy. The two of them together are magic.
This book was really great and I enjoyed reading it from page one right up to the end. The characters were wonderful and I really loved the easy going banter between them all. The whole book made me feel right home in the little town of Stewartsville, Montana. It had the feel of the way that co-workers, neighbors and friends would living in a small community. The willingness to help where and when you can. The only one living in the wrong town was the waitress that did not show up for her shifts and spent all of her time flirting and not working when she was there. Okay I will go back to the story now.
In the beginning of the story we meet Cara Fernley she presently lives in Seattle, works as a cater and loves her job. She has lived here for about 4 years and loves everything about it except her ex-boyfriend. They broke up but he can not get that through his head and he keeps coming back. When he is not staying with me he lives with his parents. He is lazy, will not get a job and just takes from everyone. He even went so far as to use my credit card without my permission. I am done, ready to leave town and start over again somewhere else away from Alexander Rolovich. So I closed my bank account, cancelled my credit cards, quit my job and told the landlord I was moving, packed up and was gone. I packed up my 64 Ford pickup that my grandfather had left me and hit the road.
I drove for about 10 hours and stopped to stretch my legs and grab a bite to eat in a little town in Montana. There hanging out of the window of the drive thru was the waitress flirting with a customer and totally ignoring me. I sat down at a booth and a lady comes from the back to help me. She is the cook and owner of the place and having difficulty getting good help. When she brings my food back out, I find out she has an opening for an Assistant Manager. So Marge and I talk about the position and the details and I have a new job at Milt's Drive Inn. Now to find a place to live and my banking account only had two hundred dollars left in it when I closed the account. So my plan is to rent a climate controlled storage unit and live in it for a while. And Self Storage is right across the street so that is convenient.
One day I meet a good looking cowboy Dustin Jones, his sister Shanan, had told me he is 29 and single. He runs the Double Bar-J Ranch for the family and owns the franchise in Safe Storage. Shanan had helped me move my things into the storage unit. He had come through the drive thru a few times and seemed really nice. Then Dustin, Shanan, Nathan their cousin and the local Sheriff and his wife came in for a late lunch. We had everything all decorated up for Christmas and Dustin tricked me into standing under the mistletoe and he kissed me. Wow what a kiss, I tingled all of the way down to my toes. I do not want to ruin all of the surprises so from here you have to read the book and see what happens next.
This book pulls you in and won’t let you go I had a hard time putting this book down. The characters are so real that I immediately found myself invested in them. Cara is stuck in a bad relationship and as often as she breaks it off, she is sucked back in. Finally, she packs up and leaves. Driving with no specific destination in mind, she pulls over in a small town for food and gas. Realizing she has little money and the diner needs an assistant manager she decides to stay. As she works, she easily makes friends including Dustin who has the reputation of being grumpy but always has a smile for her. Soon Cara and Dustin are spending more time together but there are secrets that could damage their relationship. A wonderful story to enjoy. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.
Cara Fernley, a woman on the run from a broken heart, finds herself unexpectedly drawn to a small town in Montana. A chance encounter with a handsome cowboy (Dustin) sparks a connection that threatens to complicate her carefully constructed life. As their relationship deepens, Cara must confront her past and decide whether to risk it all for love.
Cara Fernley is a heroine you can’t help but root for. Her journey from escaping a toxic relationship to finding a sense of belonging is portrayed with authenticity. I loved her positive attitude about her temporary but unique living situation.
Enter Dustin aka the cowboy—charismatic, kind, and full of holiday spirit. His surprise mistletoe kiss is a swoon-worthy moment that marks a turning point in the story. Their chemistry is undeniable, but Cara’s secret about her living arrangements and her recent failed relationship make her hesitant to get involved. These two are adorable and I was so invested in their story.
Grab a comfy blanket, and a hot drink then curl up and get ready to fall in love with Dustin right along with Cara. I received a complimentary copy. All opinions in this review are my own.
This novella is a bit cheesy, very sweet, and just a cute, fun, quick read. Our main female is Cara, who ends up in a small Montana town as she's escaping a bad relationship in Seattle. Our main male is Dustin. Dustin is truly the sweetest, most understanding guy you'll probably meet in your whole life. You might fall in love with him a bit.
There's no sexual content or violence in the book. There is mention of a meth lab they are trying to find in the community, and there is one swear word toward the end of the novel. I would recommend this book to other people.
I'll admit I'm a pretty harsh reviewer when it comes to novellas. I feel like they are often novels that aren't fully developed. With that in mind, there were a few places where I wanted more information, but overall I felt like I wasn't being cheated out of the whole story. I'd give this one 4.5 stars and round up. I received a free ARC from the author, Carolyn Twede Frank, and I provided a voluntary review.
Her Cowboy For Christmas is a charming novella by Carolyn Twede Frank that quickly draws readers in. Cara moves from Seattle to escape a troublesome relationship and finds herself in a small Montana town, hoping for a chance to heal. She is unaware that her life is about to take a positive turn.
In this new town, she meets Dustin, a handsome cowboy who runs a ranch. He fits the mold of a perfect book boyfriend—kind, supportive, attractive, and an excellent kisser.
There’s a significant twist in the story that I won’t reveal; this twist could keep Cara and Dustin apart.
The book is packed with humor, drama, betrayal, heartbreak, and the promise of a bright future. This delightful novella is perfect for a cozy night by the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate, allowing readers to immerse themselves completely in Her Cowboy For Christmas.
I want to start by saying I received an ARC of this. This is a clean Christmas romance book. This is about Dustin and Cara. Dustin runs a ranch and owns storage units. Cara is on the run from her ex then ends up in a small town and gets a job at the burger joint. Cara can’t afford an apartment so her only living option is a storage unit. Her and Dustin meet and they automatically get a long and eventually start dating. How will he react when he finds out she is living in his storage units? Will they be able to make things work between them? There was some stuff I didn’t expect in this book but it added excitement to the book as I didn’t know how it would play out. I loved how welcoming everyone was to Cara. Dustin and Cara are amazing together. This book is amazing. If you love a cowboy romance set at Christmas time then you will love this.
Now that's a dang cute holiday romance read. And it's got drama, low points, cuteness, and high points. And Dustin....I just loved that Cowboy.
Cara had sworn off men after her ex, but Dustin just swooped on in and changed her mind. Well, his shy nature won her heart. But so did his caring side. And his need to be there for others. Okay, maybe he captured my heart? And then there is Cara, one strong willed and determined girl. I loved her resourcefulness. Talk about amazing.
These two together just gave you the perfect holiday romance, so make sure to check it out.
I loved this short book. Carolyn does a great job keeping the story going and keeping it interesting from beginning to end.
I loved the uniqueness of this story even though it is a Christmas Romance. I was thinking it would be a normal they met and fell in love. But this one was that and much more. In just roughly 90 pages you get a broken woman who has only a little cash to her find a man who loves her, they solve a local crime problem and fall in love. It was such a great easy read.
It was a fast read and just a fun Christmas story!

Cara is leaving her apartment and town after a bad break up. With only a few dollars left she stops in a small town and starts to rebuild her life - in a bit of an unconventional way. This is a fairly quick super sweet read. Cara is a wonderful character and I truly enjoyed her spunk and creativity to rebuild her life. A fantastic book for a cozy afternoon. I received a copy of this book from the author. I am leaving a voluntary and honest review.
This is a super cute, super quick Christmas novella! It's very fast paced, as one would expect of a novella, so some thing might have seemed a little rushed but I think that's to be expected. Fluffed out a little this would also make a great romance novel. It's not spicy at all but it's sweet and the MMC is defiantly the cowboy I'd want for Christmas.
Cute, quick Christmas read. I love the premise of this story, living in a storage unit. The tale is quirky and fun. Add in the cowboy owner of the storage facility and a meth lab, then you have a story that won’t let you go. I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Starting a new life, escaping an ex, she stops at a town a tank away. Who would have guessed all the joy which might be there? Her budget meant: find a job and a place to live now! Luck with the job and creativity for living, means she just might make it but it could all fall to pieces. Her secret was close to being exposed.
What a cute story!! I love Christmas books and this one didn’t disappoint. It was a great, cozy, feel good story. Grab a cup of cocoa and read this book!!!
Cara and Dustin have an awkward first few meetings in this cute story. Both are gun-shy after breakups, but attracted to the other. They are such a cute couple, including the insecurity that comes with something so new.
The story doesn't feel rushed, but it is short. It's sweet and clean and adorable.
This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.
A great novella! I loved the characters and the way they interact is fabulous. She’s leaving a bad relationship, falls into a great job and a secret that involves both of them. Love seeing someone down on their luck not only get ahead but have a great love in the end.
Tropes Include: Down on their luck Happily ever after Secrets
Adored. I absolutely adored this book! I found myself devouring the pages as quickly as I could. I really like Cara and Dustin is a sweetheart. If you're looking for something to warm you up on lunch break this cold winter season, grab this!
