Big Daddy

Rate this book
He's bossy, controlling and dangerously handsome.
He's also completely and utterly off limits.

Leave it to me to fall for an arrogant, powerful attorney, who moonlights as the most aggravating man ever. But he can wear a fitted suit like it's his job, and that sultry swept back hair? Don't get me started. He's trouble.

I'm into trouble. Big time.

The first time we met was a fluke, but everything after that? Shamefully orchestrated. I know I should stop - both of us realize we're playing with fire.

I know the risks I'm taking, yet here I am, working at his law firm, driving the car he loaned me, spending lunches on his desk - and I don't think I can stop.

Because I'm in love with him.

The problem is... he's my best friend's dad.

LOL. 😆 Big Daddy was a filthy wild ride, and Daisy never disappoints me in the spice department, but I swear the number of times she called him Big Daddy, f—king hell, it was overused. 😐

This one was funny and had a hint of seriousness.

Winnie is sassy stubborn and independent she makes her money doing feet pictures it's not the life she thought she would have, but it makes good money. But when her big client cancles for good, she's stuck and has a breakdown. Her best friend dad comes in and catches her in this emotional moment, and we'll Q is a douche even his daughter calls him a asshole. So he doesn't want his daughter tempted by bad stuff he sets her up with a therapist.
They fight about it and why he's paying for it. I was pretty impressed that was what he did for her. I was happy she did go and took up medication.

But that didn't stop the 2 from bantering and him offering her money to stop doing the feet sight. And she did for about 2 days and went back on to tell a client she won't be doing it anymore and Big daddy just got jealous thinking she didn't keep her word. The spice between them was delicious.

With there relationship growing they also have drama with Q daughter who has her own mess going on (I didn't read her book) and I have to say she wad kinda a bitch. And that drama hit big. I was glad Q didn't wanna give up Winnie and he didn't care if his daughter had a problem. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Big daddy didn't come to play! Winnie did have a problem because it was her best friend and only person she had in her corner. So it wad harder on her.

Saftey-there is no om drama she does have a client on feet pictures before he breaks it off with her. He tried to get back together, but she let's him down.

Low angst, no ow/om drama, no cheating, slight secondary character, drama, Sexy times, no virgins

Big Daddy Definitely Delivers In the latest Book by daisy Jane. It manages to be both super sweet, super schminky, and surprisingly emotional all at the same time. It is a taboo, best friend's dad story that pairs much older, grumpy Quincy with his daughter's best friend, Winnie, who is a bit of a brat, lol. They have awesome chemistry and are surprisingly super supportive of each other while they both try to navigate their relationship with each other as well as their relationship with Quincy's daughter, Brielle. Highly recommend!

Imagine this: you’re crying alone at your best friend’s apartment and feeling sorry for yourself after losing your exclusive client on FeetFans, and then your best friend’s hot but controlling dad who you’ve never met barges in and demands to know why you’re crying. What’s a girl to do? Act like a complete brat, of course. 💀

Big Daddy is a jerk.
But he isn’t a jerk to me.
And feminism aside, I’m pretty sure a big, sexy rich asshole who is an asshole to everyone but you is the damn dream.

I loved the brat vs brat lover/tamer pairing, and how unserious most of this book was (although there was a sprinkling of serious moments). I wish it had been shorter though, it would have been a perfect steamy, OTT instalust/love novella.

I liked this book, but at the same time there were also a lot of things I didn’t like nor understand.
First being the heroine. She had her moments where I actually did like her, but then she would really piss me off. She annoyed me a lot.
Second, why was this a dead ex, when it was never mentioned what happened to his ex, she was only mentioned like four times, and he never expressed anything about their relationship at all. So I don’t understand why it needed to be a dead ex at all. Just the thought that he eve had a dead ex at all put a damper on the book.
Lastly, the timeline in this book was confusing and a little inconsistent. After they got together, I was under the impression that they had maybe been together a week or so, and then the h says four months and I was like when???? There were a lot of time jumps that weren’t specified and that was annoying. Like if you’re going to write time jumps, at least specify that the time is jumping!!!!

DNF at 31%

"Big Daddy" was used 286 times and every single time, I wanted to stab myself in the eyes or better yet sew the FMCs mouth shut.
Every. Single. Character. Was. Annoying.

I’m really sad to DNF this because this author wrote a book I absolutely loved (the man I know) so my expectations were high. Unfortunately, I was annoyed out of my mind instead.

Being overbearingly disrespectful is not the same as being 'bratty'.

I'm not even going to lie, not a single character was likable 💀.

To start, I REALLY tried to give the heroine a chance, but her character was just so selfish.

When she said:

"Damn, Brielle is more of a brat than I realized."

About her supposed best friend, to said best friend's DAD (not knowing him well, and seeing his house for the first time), I knew it was done for. Considering that she stayed at her apartment from time to time, ate her food, and wore her shoes 😭, you'd think that there would be some semblance of respect.

That mixed in with the way she spoke to and treated other people in her life (like the scene at the bar, how she spoke to the H, the way she treated her bsf), was so disrespectful, and in no way shape or form 'bratty'.

And then we have the H. He didn't feel real 😭. I didn't really have much of an opinion on him at first, because he was a very stereotypical male lead in an office setting, if that makes sense, but the more I read, the more weirded out I got.

When he called his own daughter a whore when he misunderstood a situation and didn't feel any guilt towards the fact that he was 'in a relationship' with his daughter's best friend, I was so put off it's not even funny.

Another big thing for me was the maturity of the characters. It was hard to believe that the heroine was 26 and supposedly really smart, yet acted and spoke in the way that she did. The whole tone of the narration was weird to me. like when she said:

"The scream I scrumpt!"

Kill me, I never want to read that again in a book 🤡💀.

Or another fav of mine:

" At the end of the day, I am a backstabber. I am Brutus. I am Jaime Lannister."

Ok self-aware queen, but what does Jaime have to do with this 😭.

I genuinely thought I was hallucinating 😭. That mixed in with the way she unironically called the H 'big daddy' and it was said 286 times in this book...

The exact same sentiment applies to the H, who is supposed to be 48, and a super successful lawyer, yet made the decisions that he did? It wasn't believable.

I also felt like no relationships outside of the one between the MCs were developed or made much sense. For example, the h and her best friend. You couldn't pay me to believe that they were genuinely close (at least from the h's POV).

And again, the same thing with the H and his daughter, and him wanting to be closer to her, yet doing the things that he did.

Overall, this was so disappointing 😭 I've been LOVING the books that I've read recently by this author, and thought that this one would work for me too.

I think I've just learnt that they can be REALLY hit or miss for me.

this would've been better if it had been 100 pages shorter. then it might not have become so tedious.

the first 50% was 4 star material. the last 50%? the characters all acted like they were 14 years old.
the fucking unnecessary drama of it all!!! all the characters were so incredibly immature.
these people ghosted each other at the drop of a hat. then they said hurtful things, and then they apologized. and then they again made bad choices and then they AGAIN did a big tearful apology. they made every little thing into a huge issue, and it was unending.
the 48 year old H acted shitty towards his daughter again and again, and every time, he'd have a Big Realization that he has to do better and that he can't continue like this. and then he'd immediately forget all about the big realization and be an asshole again. rinse and repeat.
it was as if the author was determined to drag it out for the sake of a higher page count.

I don't understand all the 5 star ratings. this is why i have trust issues.

The way I ate this up. Big daddy was everything. Protective. Jealous. Overbearing. I loved it and him. There was surprisingly a lot of depth and I really appreciated how the author handled anti depressants, mental health, as well as reflecting on decision making. It was honestly all so good. Highly recommend.

Reread with audio update: The excessive use of “Big Daddy” doesn’t seem nearly as excessive as it felt when I read on my Kindle, so bonus points.

I mean, come on…daddy dom x brat? I didn’t stand a chance of not loving this book. This book was on the fast track to my favorites list, before page 1.
And I’m not normal a fan of the best friend’s dad trope. But I loved every second of this book. 💖

Brats are rarely written accurately, let alone accurately and well — yet, Big Daddy is just that.

I said in my stories that this was a pleasure read for me because it was finally a book that I wanted to to read when I wanted to read it and I could savor it and just enjoy the ride. And boy did I.

Winnie has always had a hard time in her life especially compared to her best friend Brielle. When she loses her biggest stream of income in the form of a client for her FeetFans account she’s wallowing her her sorrow mooching off her best friends apartment. Until her father, Quincey, comes barging in and discovers her. While Quincey knows lusting after his daughter's best friend is wrong, he also can’t deny the attraction and infatuation he has with Winnie immediately….and Winnie feels the exact same.

After being a knight in shining armor, “Big Daddy” Quincey starts to come through for flirty Winnie in more ways than she ever expected. Now being forced to be in his presence on a regular basis is stirring things for both of them that they can no longer deny.

Both Winnie and Quincey are imperfect people but their story was light and fun and flirty while still having some heavy and more series aspects to it. I loved the character development Quincey showed and while Winnie’s growth was less obvious and more slow growing I honestly felt for her and her feelings throughout the turmoil.

Now to dive into Brielle’s story I feel like will be that much more fun knowing what I know about Big Daddy and Brielle’s….life choices 😜

3.5 🌟 - I really enjoyed most aspects of this book. Winnie was so bloody funny, and I loved her bratty side. She was so cheeky and just had no qualms
Hahahaha. Quincey (like choose an older name…) was an asshole. Like to everyone. Except Winnie. I mean they definitely had their moments but she wasn’t afraid to call him out. Love that energy. The growth by the end of the book is definitely worth noting.

I did think this was a little too long, it just kinda dragged a bit? I do love a Daddy kink as much as the next smut reader but i got over the “big daddy” nickname pretty quick. Twas a bit overused I think. Alllllll the shminky k!Nk which daisy Jane does best - feral for the dirty talk (from both of them!)

I mean not my favvvvv DJ book, but some aspects were really bloody good. Also, brielle annoyed me.

Read if you like:
- best friends dad
- age gap (f26 / m48)
- forbidden relationship
- dom x brat vibes
- close proximity
- workplace

Where do I even begin with this? 😬

First… holy age gap 🔥. I’m a huge fan that Winnie isn’t some teenager or barely out of high school—she’s in her mid-twenties. And he’s… 48 👀… like DAAAAYUM. 🔥

But honestly, I was so disappointed. What was the plot besides the constant teasing and… well, the other scenes? 🤤 To be fair, Winnie being unbothered and funny made her bratty moments actually entertaining 😂.

Unfortunately, I have to give this one a 2/5. No plot, no gravel… it just wasn’t a vibe for me. I really had hopes for this book.

I picked this up bc the vibes were not vibing on anything else I was reading and I liked the other one by Daisy that I had read. This was fine, it was spicy for sure which I vibed with but certain things were pretty over the top. The repetition of Big Daddy was so bad and the breeding kink was a little overdone for me.

I’m rather torn with this… the first half was so good, I loved how Quincey literally couldn’t understand how or why he was attracted to Winnie. I loved the bratty x dom vibes chemistry between Winnie and Quincey— I wasn’t overly sold on their chemistry over all, but I liked how Winnie wasn’t afraid to put him in his place.

The second half of the book, I don’t know what that was all about, and what really aggravated me was Quincey overbearing nature; I couldn’t understand how he was so against his daughter being in a trouple, when he himself was dating her best friend, and mind you, was all but ready to impregnate her, too. That and then both Brielle and Winnie falling pregnant, Quincey again, throwing a tantrum (I don’t know, I was equally baffled by Winnie’s behaviour, too) it all felt abit far fetched, rushed and unrealistic.

I’m all for abit of daddy kink, but I got over hearing ‘big daddy’ rather quickly.

What I will say is that Winnie and Quincy are so horny for each other! The spice and dirty talk, the lactation and foot kink, Christ, it almost done me in lmao, but it was hot and a lot of fun.

Tropes:

age gap (22 years) 26/48
dom x brat vibes
best friend's dad
grumpy x sunshine
workplace romance
secret relationship
pregnancy
kinks; anal play, degradation, breeding kink, foot kink, lactation kink and hand necklaces

This was recommended when I wanted age gap & breeding and succeeded perfectly in that. This is my first Daisy Jane book and they definitely succeeded in fulfilling that need for these kinds of tropes. It’s the perfect brain break book. The writing was easy to get into and fun, very casual but not in an annoying way.

4 stars because the number of times she used his nickname was annoying. More so in the first half but I don’t think the amount lessened in the second time. I think I started skipping the nickname. My brain just pushed it aside. Also, Winnie’s personality changed in the second half and it was strange.

I actually really appreciated how deep the author went and made the characters realistic. I find so often in tropes like this, the stories are for the smut only. While there was a lot of it, it wasn’t capped at 200-250 pages and the story had some real development to it.

Favourite Quote:
“I’m gonna marry you, Winnie. I’m gonna fuck you til you’re pregnant, and you’re gonna be pregnant a lot because I’ll never tire of breeding you, my beautiful, perfect fucking queen. My soul mate. My altar.”

Thank you Daisy and Smuthood for the ALC!

3.75

"Big Daddy"  is a romance novel about a young woman who falls for her best friend's father, an attractive and successful lawyer. The book is a forbidden love story that deals with the challenges of an age-gap relationship. The main character, Winnie, a recent graduate, finds herself drawn to her best friend's dad, Quincey, and the two begin a secret relationship.

The story consist of mix of passion and feelings. It goes beyond a simple love story to explore themes of self-worth and family issues. Winnie's journey of growing up and the difficulties she faces from society add meaning to the book. Quincey is a likable but flawed character, which makes the story feel more real.

Even though the book uses common romance themes like a big age gap and "forbidden love," it stands out because it deals with these topics openly. Daisy did a great job of showing the characters' inner struggles and their personal growth.

Stars were deducted due to the over use and repetitiveness of "Big Daddy" as it really took away from the audiobook experience.

Quincey Parker (48 ans) et Winnie Collins
Pere du meilleur ami

Brielle (fille et meilleur ami)

Intéressant, belle relation, mais un peu long.

📖

If you love:
-D@addy kink
-Best friend’s dad
-Secret relationship

This book is for you.

Daisy Jones does it again. She wrote a super HOT book with the kinkiest scenes and the realest characters. (And also managed to make feet be sexy for someone that hates them 😂🤦🏽‍♀️)

I could relate to the FMC on another level, her need to be taken care of and love. But at the same thing putting up a brave face to the world…

This might be one of my favorite books of her, and one I will definitely be reading-reading.

OMG!! What an amazing read! It was equal parts spicy, kinky goodness, and heartwarming sweetness! The banter, back and forth between Quincey and Winnie, was my favorite part! Age gap lovers, look no further than Big Daddy. It's full of character growth and unreal chemistry, and there is also a whole lot of "Oh no, we shouldn't be doing this," to "Oh hotness, yes please, don't stop!"
There is some 3rd act angst/ drama, but trust the author to get you to the HEA for all!!

This really had me until about the 50% mark but their relationship lacked depth for the other half of the book which was so sad for me. Idk. I really enjoyed the beginning, I enjoyed the push and pull of their relationship, but I needed some more defining moments between them.

LOVED the mental health representation though 🫶🏻

This book sucked me in from the first page. It was deliciously spicy and well written.

The banter between the two main characters was very engaging.

Definitely worth a read.
