Very Holiday #5

A Very Snowed In New Year

Rate this book
What’s the actual last thing you’d ever want your celebrity crush to see you doing when you finally come face-to-excruciatingly-handsome-face with him? Singing and dancing around by yourself to “Dreams” by The Cranberries while drinking straight from a bottle of champagne? While you’re wearing some wedding gown you just found in a closet? Yeah. Me too.

And yet, here we are.
At a mountain cabin I was sent to by the awfully pretty actress/pretty awful human I work for to get things ready for her romantic New Year’s Eve getaway with him.
That’s not even the worst thing about the way I meet Holden Archer.
The actress has been paying me to have textual relations with him, pretending to be her—and she doesn’t even like him!

Is it terrible that a snowstorm prevents us from leaving and the actress from getting here?
Neither Holden nor I think so.
Because it turns out our connection goes back a lot further than those texts.
And just like in all my favorite romantic comedies, it’s what got us here that is the most amazing part of the story.

Will my lack of experience cause me to freeze up when we go from inbox to in person?
Or will a dreamy movie star melt my inhibitions and make all my secret New Year wishes come true?

Amazon Top 25 and USA Today bestselling author Kayley Loring spent many years as a screenwriter (under a different name) in Los Angeles before moving to the Pacific Northwest to live out her childhood dream of being a Disney heroine who talks and sings to woodland creatures. When not trying to keep animals alive, she’s writing steamy romantic comedy novels, obviously. She’s breathing cleaner air, writing dirtier words, and staring at her computer screen until her eyeballs dry out instead of prancing around Southern California in miniskirts and going to the hair salon. Still waiting for the woodland creatures to clean her house, though.

Read or listen to Kayley’s books when you want humor, heat, and heart. You’ll enjoy top-notch banter, strong heroines, lovable characters you’d want to know in real life and you’ll swoon over perfectly imperfect book boyfriends. All Kayley Loring books are steamy open door romance. Be sure to check out her next-level audiobooks!

🛡️ Audiobook Review: A Very Snowed in New Year (Very Holiday, #5)

Author: Kayley Loring
Genre: Holiday Romance
Narrators: Erin Mallon, Jason Clarke and Connor Crais

🦸🏼‍♀️ The Heroine: Piper

Piper has grown up in the background of this series, first appearing as Maddie’s precocious niece in A Very Bossy Christmas. Now, she finally steps into the spotlight. From the age of thirteen, Piper has been scribbling in journals and spinning fan fiction — often cheeky, sometimes scandalous, and always heartfelt. Her writing is more than a hobby; it’s her way of processing the world and the relationships around her. That creative spark makes her both relatable and endearing, even when her rapid-fire thoughts occasionally overwhelm the page.

🦸🏻‍♂️ The Hero: Holden

Holden Archer is the kind of hero who feels both larger-than-life and surprisingly grounded. As the rising star of the Riders of Storm and Fire film adaptation, he’s living the dream many romantasy fans would kill for. Yet beneath the Hollywood gloss, Holden is a New Yorker at heart, tethered by his close bond with his younger sister — a sharp, insightful presence who sees through his romantic entanglements. His relationship with Sienna, a fellow actress, is already fraying, leaving him open to something deeper and more authentic.

🧨 Plot

The story kicks off with a meet-cute that feels ripped from a fangirl’s daydream. At nineteen, Piper abandons her cab in New York to chase a glimpse of Holden, only to leave behind her most treasured possession: her diary. Holden, unexpectedly tender, takes the time to track down its owner, sparking months of intimate email exchanges. Fast-forward three years, and Piper is now a senior in college, chasing her dream of becoming a screenwriter. Their paths cross again, and what begins as a professional arrangement — Piper hired to “text” Holden on behalf of a narcissistic actress — evolves into a tangled, heartfelt romance.

🌟 What Worked

• Snowed-in trope magic: Few setups are more delicious than being trapped with your celebrity crush, and this book leans into that fantasy beautifully.
• Twists on familiar tropes: The assistant-to-romance arc takes a clever turn when Piper is tasked with wooing Holden on behalf of someone else, only for him to fall for her instead.
• Holden’s vulnerability: Despite his fame, Holden is the one who first recognizes Piper’s worth, flipping the expected dynamic and giving the romance a refreshing edge.
• Complication with heart: The layered setup — diaries, emails, fake texting, snowed-in romance — makes the story feel original and unpredictable.

💔 What Fell Short

• Chaotic opening: The beginning blurs the line between Piper’s fan fiction and her inner monologue, which can feel disorganized and hard to follow.
• Over-chatter: Piper’s voice, once charming in earlier books, sometimes tips into overdrive here. Her fast-paced dialogue risks overwhelming the emotional beats.

🎙 Audiobook Narration

The duet narration by Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon brings texture and contrast to the story. Erin’s soft, expressive delivery captures Piper’s vulnerability, while Jason’s gravelly, grounded tone embodies Holden’s quiet strength. Connor Crais’s cameo is a delightful bonus, as his performances always elevate the material. The only drawback is tonal age — both main narrators sound slightly older than the characters, which occasionally distances the listener from the youthful energy of Piper and Holden. Still, the performances are polished, emotive, and engaging.

💭 Final Thoughts

This installment feels like Piper’s long-awaited coming-of-age, blending fangirl fantasy with genuine emotional stakes. The romance is layered with humor, complication, and sincerity, while Holden’s grounded charm balances Piper’s whirlwind energy. Though the pacing stumbles at the start and Piper’s chatter may test patience, the originality of the setup and the chemistry between leads make this a standout entry in the series. The audiobook narration adds depth, even if the voices skew older, ensuring fans of both the series and romantasy adaptations will find plenty to love.

Multicast Narration
Duet Narration
Narrated by Jason Clarke, Erin Mallon, and Connor Crais

• Lots of butt ogling
• Witty and Unique
• The perfect HEA
• Piper's book
• A must listen to
• Big family vibes
• Swoony MMC
• Amazing Epilogues

"There’s so much darkness out there. Why shouldn’t I be the one who shines a light on the swoony good stuff? Like happy coincidences and nice guys with nice butts. This is my fight song LOL."

To say that I loved this audiobook honestly feels like an understatement. Because this audiobook felt like so much more than an audiobook! I'm not one that can picture books very well while I read them or listen to them, but with Kayley's writing, it always plays like a movie in my head! And listening to it only elevates the experience. The cast blew me away!

Kayley's writing is TOP NOTCH! And I know I say this with each of her books the more I listen to them. But I truly think this book was my favorite. It was so unique, witty, and honestly perfect. It had me laughing and swooning so many times I lost count. I was so curious where Kayley was going to take us as Piper found her HEA, and this exceeded every expectation I could have imagined. Holden was PERFECT for Piper. With Piper's main character's energy, she needed someone just like him. The perfect balance of cocky and charming. He balanced her out so well! I couldn't be more happy with how Piper "The Hopeful Romantic" got her HEA!

"That girl has a lot of energy, and I am beyond intrigued."

Erin Mallon freaken NAILED her performance of Piper! The second she said, "I will shoot sexy fire out of the tips of my thumbs. Pew! Pew! Pew!" I knew there was no one better that could have ever brought Piper to life. I KNEW I was going to love Piper's book, but to hear it voiced by Erin was absolute perfection! She handled Piper's energy level and big thoughts so well!

Jason Clarke played Holden! Swooooooonnnn! He did such a fantastic job! I loved listening to him figure out and connect all the pieces of the ways Piper was in his life. He really brought out Piper's tender side! And He balanced out her big personality. And Jason did such a great job conveying that through his performance!

"I love him. He's my boo, my bestie, my person, my ride-or-die, my main."

CONNOR!!! Wow!!! Kayley wasn't kidding when she told us that he voiced 12 different characters in this book! And his ability to flow from one accent to another blows me away! I was cracking up at every conversation that Holden had with the agent Connor played! And the performance Connor gave has Piper's dad TOP NOTCH! There were also so many more. But these two definitely stood out to me!

There was just so much talent in this audiobook! From Kayley's writing to the performances these three gave! It was so well done! I love how this book felt so warm. With the swoony HEA to the big family vibes. I just loved it!

If this hadn't already been a 5 star listen for me the last few chapters would have sealed the deal! They were hands down the freaken BEST!!!!! HILARIOUS!

4.5 stars!

Book #5 in the Very Holiday series, and it’s Piper’s turn for her HEA! This is a gorgeously fun story! A complex but very clever missed connection, celebrity romance that had me giggling and falling in love, and it’s such a great read.

We’ve watched Piper grow up in the earlier books of the series (though you can read this as a standalone) when she was a young girl in love with love, butts, and all things romance. As a 22 year old, not much has changed, except she hasn’t had the chance to really explore love for herself due to her high expectations and the overprotective men in her life. But she remains delightfully optimistic and dreams of a romcom-worthy romance of her very own.

Holden Archer is Piper’s celebrity crush. He’s an actor in a wildly successful fantasy movie series, is hot Hollywood property, and he’s an absolute sweetheart. When he’s pretty much forced into a relationship set-up with an actress, he ends up texting with Piper instead when she’s hired by the actress to flirt with him on her behalf, setting up a funny and banter-filled dynamic. And it tuns out that Piper and Holden have a previous connection as well, which adds an additional twist making the whole situation a hilariously complicated but comedic series of mistaken identities and missed opportunities.

It all comes to a head when Piper and Holden end up getting trapped in a remote cabin during a snowstorm. Truths come out, feelings are revealed, and Piper finally gets the epic romance movie moment she’s always dreamed of. It’s sweet, sexy, and swoonily romantic, and I loved watching these two find their way to each other in such an honest, open, and heartfelt way.

I am falling in love, hard and fast, with Piper Puckett.
I don’t know when it started—I just hope it never ends.

I love these characters so much. The chemistry is so good, and the banter is top-notch. The dynamics that Piper and Holden have with their friends and family are fabulously entertaining, and as I have come to appreciate from Kayley Loring, the character interactions are a real highlight. Shout out to Holden’s awesome younger sister, who is so much fun, and we get to see glimpses of the boys from the previous books in this series, which I loved.

This is such a fun read. Sweet and funny, with a love story worthy of our romantic young heroine. I loved this one.

4.5 stars.

‘I’ve read so many pretty words about love. Dark words too. I’ve feared and longed to understand what the great writers meant, what the great actors have been portraying.’

We LOVED this book!
So swoony and a great addition to a series we’ve fallen in love with. Every quirky, gorgeous character Kayley Loring writes is exquisitely brought to life. A Very Snowed in New Year is up there as one of our favourites! Oh Hunter, be still our beating hearts! And gorgeous Piper who was in love with being in love. A girl after our own hearts! Both characters and all those around them were an absolute delight!

’Who even needs romance movies when guys like this actually exists?’

We ‘ve loved Piper from early in the series when, as a little girl, she always managed to elicit giggles from us. She was funny, a little sassy, and watching her grow into a teen with the same sass and wicked sense of humour, together with her desire for her own HEA after watching those around her, find ‘the one’, meant we hoped Piper would get her own spicy, and much deserved love story and HEA. Her story was everything!

‘I’m still a hopeful romantic too, so I am no more determined than ever to hold out for the perfect guy and the perfect situation.’

Kayley Loring excels in bringing the best family dynamics with laugh out loud banter to her stories, we frequently caught ourselves swooning and laughing in equal measures. Gosh, we loved this book! It was exactly what we were in the mood for.

’Just knowing that someone is out there. Someone with the power to turn you on and remind you what it is to be a man, that there’s more to life than this.’

A sweet and funny meet cute, a gorgeous MMC – Holden Archer, was perfect in every way and was made for Piper Pucket. Our beautiful FMC, she’s used to being surrounded by gorgeous men. Her family is full of them, and they set the bar high with their chiselled good looks, wicked sense of humour, hot butts, and their ability to love with all they had.

The banter and relationship between Hunter and his young sister Rory were hilarious, and set up the story with Piper so beautifully. Dreamy, funny, swoony – everything you could possibly want from a perfect rom-com is between the pages of this book! We finished it and both wanted to reread it immediately!

Pretty fast paced, no third act breakup, Holden really stepped up when things started going full speed ahead, and the butt ogling was amusing as hell.

I really enjoyed this latest (and possibly last?) book of the Very holiday series that has a famous actor, Holden, falling for the virgin whose journal he finds in a cab. Told through dual POV and text message exchanges, this book has sizzling chemistry, a mistaken identity, snowed in plot and a great cast of secondary characters (many from previous books in the series). It was also FANTASTIC on audio! The perfect quick read or listen for New Years Eve/Day.

Obsessed! A Very Snowed in New Year by Kayley Loring was a sweet and swoony romance that left my heart feeling all warm and cozy inside. I’ve been anticipating and so excited for Piper’s romance, and of course Kayley delivered with all her hilarious sass, witty banter, and loveable charm. I adored Piper’s passionate heart, and her boldness to go after what she truly desired even when it seemed at times a little bit unreachable and a little bit forbidden. Holden was a dream, and I loved dedication and devotion to love and cherish Piper and satisfy her in every single way. All the allusions to so many romcom movies give this book a fresh yet nostalgic feeling that made Piper and Holden even more irresistible to love. Classic Kayley at its best! Also, what would this book be without all the cameos of our fave holiday couples and of course the mention of butts!

Overall, I LOVED this book. If you are a fan of a new adult romance with a hot hunky movie star, a feisty passionate writer, fan fiction journals, NYC cabs, book recs, witty text banter, meet cute misconnections, secret identity, journal guy, personal assistant jobs, wishing walls confessions, Big Bear Lake, cozy cabins, coming clean, steamy first times, new year kisses, holiday couple cameos, love declarations, new job opportunities, and a HEA that make dreams come true, then you will love Piper and Holden’s story. I always look forward to more from Kayley Loring.

listened on audible. oh my god. zero stars. i thought it would earn one star for a good concept, but then the only conflict that was set up (piper just. giving shay her script with zero legal arrangements) didn’t even end up being anything. the bar started on the floor with “i’ve shipped more people than the staten island ferry” and go lower immediately with an entire chapter of sherlock smut. i skipped half the book and it was still too long. so annoying because it’s right up my alley to have an interconnected rom com series, but even i cannot do this for another second. the narrator spoke with the same cadence as welcome to nightvale and the FMC has an ass fetish. i have read better content written by 12 year olds on ao3, which was ironically mentioned sixteen thousand times in this book. ew

Another amazing book in this series that I will definitely try to reread every new year. This was so refreshing, with a very unique storyline, and so many cute references to all the most loved rom-coms! It’s filled with all the characters we love from the rest of the series, and introduces us to a few new ones as well. I really hope the author adds more books to this series—maybe Mother’s Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, please?! What a gem this was! Do yourselves a favor, and read this book!♥️♥️♥️

4.0 stars. Ahhh, Piper finally's grown up and found her own HEA (literally, those are his initials) who just happens to have a great butt. Holden is Piper's dream guy. Cute story if you follow this author and her series of books. And what's a KL story without the good time crew showing up: Declan, Nolan, Eddie & Billy. Fun times. Piper and Holden were a sweet couple and both smitten. Although sorry to see it end Its been a really great time along the way.

I absolutely loved Piper’s story and that she finally got her own HEA with Holden in A Very Snowed In New Year. It was so much fun to follow her journey into adulthood and Holden was swoonworthy and I loved how perfect they were for one another. I also liked Holden’s sister, Rory who was a great addition.

A Very Snowed in New Year is the perfect culmination of Kayley Loring’s Very Holiday series. Piper, first introduced in A Very Bossy Christmas, is as fabulous as ever—a self-proclaimed hopeful romantic who adores love and of course butts! This story is pure fluff and joy, with Piper trying to find her own dreamy happily-ever-after with Holden. If you’ve followed this series, this book is the ultimate feel-good finale!

Piper finally gets her HEA!
I absolutely loved this book. Piper is a romance writer and reader. She sees love all around her, hears Dreams by The Cranberries playing in her head whenever she walks down the street, and she's always on the lookout for her HEA. And then she finally meets him in the most perfect way imaginable. It's the perfect story for romance readers, and it's the perfect ending (or ending-ish) to the Very Holiday series.

🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧
📚A Very Snowed In New Year by Kayley Loring
🎤Erin Mallon, Jason Clarke & Connor Crais

OK, STOP everything you're doing & grab this audiobook RIGHT NOW! I mean it! If you've read any of Kayley's books from her Holiday series, you know that Piper Puckett has been a reoccurring character from the beginning of the series & quite honestly, everyone's favorite. A self-proclaimed "Hope-FUL romantic," she's never given up on getting her happily ever after, all while singing to the dreamy tunes of The Cranberries.

This is an audio that will make you laugh-out loud, is fun & flirty, will warm your heart & leave you wishing you had your own snowstorm rendezvous to look forward to. Kayley has written a dreamy romantic comedy & it's GOLD, simply perfect! As always, she adds her special touch of witty dialogue, absolutely adorable moments & just the right amount of awkwardness that makes you fall completely in love with each & every character. The romantic tension is hilarious & completely irresistible! The comedic timing is impeccable & the narration by these 3 actors is unmatched, truly! It's hard to even put into words how AMAZING their performances are & the talent each of them bring to this story is absolutely bananas!

This is truly a love letter to all the romance books, romcom movies, journal entries & daydreams we had as a young girl hoping to find our HEA. There's a little bit of Piper in all of us & that's one of the things that makes this story so special & unique. I found myself wondering....am I Piper? I read Sweet Valley High, I've watched & obsessed over all the romcoms Piper loves. There is no limit to how many times one can watch You've Got Mail. It hits every single time! Kayley reminds you that there's magic in all of the moments in romance, from the meet cute, to missed connections, to first kisses, it all matters when it comes to romance. When your Roman Empire is "nice butts," I say, "I'll have what she's having!"

🎧Let's talk narration...or at least try to because I'm not even sure I can convey how incredible this one is. I LOVE Piper & Erin Mallon just embodied this character with every fiber of her being! She voices every excitement, hopeful thought & vulnerability that Piper experiences. I can't imagine anyone else voicing her. Her depiction of the sleezy character, Shay, was next level brilliant. Her talent continues to remain unmatched in my eyes & every time I listen to her, it's a joy & brings a smile to my face. Jason Clark was absolutely adorable as Holden Archer. Playing the big-time, gorgeous, movie star whose humble, caring & looking for a love that not only he can be wildly crazy over but connect with as a friend & someone who gets him & accepts him just the way he is. His British accent & narration of his little sister, Rory, was absolutely "totes adorbs." He's the guy that does ALL THE THINGS, you'd hope for & have seen in the movies & it's absolutely impossible to not fall in love with this guy! He voices all the caring & head over heels feelings Holden has for Piper to perfection! I've listened to so many audios with Mr. Crais, and I truly thought I had heard it all, but WOW, I was wrong.THIS MAN.... absolutely blew me away! I had no idea he possessed this kind of talent. He's been hiding it & I don't think there's another person who could get him to do this other than Kayley. From voicing Piper's dad with a southern accent to voicing all the Cannavale boys to my personal favorite, Rita Baskin, Holden's agent, I was left, mouth agape, at what he gave the listener. He is nothing short of SPECTATULAR, voicing at least 11 different characters from men to women & with perfect precision. I was belly laughing at his performance & it left me wanting more & he GIVES it to you, even with some added surprises.

These epilogues will go down in history as some of the funniest audio moments of all time. I couldn't stop rewinding & listening to them over & over because Connor & Jason were SO FLIPPIN GOOD!

Nora Ephron would be so proud Kayley! She's cheering you on & kicking herself she didn't come up with this idea herself. I don't know how loud I can scream, YOU NEED THIS AUDIO in your life & STAT! It's a true work of art & will reignite your love & hope in romance.

♾⭐ for this one. It's going down as a top audio in 2024 not only because of the perfect story but the performances are second to none. Piper said it best, "I love him. He's my boo, my bestie, my person, my ride-or-die, may main man." I NEVER wanna forget this. We all deserve this & I don't ever wanna stop obsessing over my husband's bubble butt! Kayley, this is truly a gift that will keep on giving & giving. Thank you for the care & time you to took to write the romantic comedy of our dreams. (Cranberries song on repeat!)

3.75🌟

giggling smirking wheezing screaming gasping throwing up

Well, so… uhm… I went in expecting something a bit more, especially after reading Book 1, and while this was fun, I did feel a teensy bit conflicted. I also think I'm starting to get used to Kayley Loring’s writing style, and maybe even comfortable with it. It's definitely a fun, cute, and quick read; some of the conversations are corny and much of the narrative leans cheesy and cheeky, but it still has its swoony moments, which still enjoyable to my liking.

A Very Snowed In New Year is a fast‑paced celebrity rom‑com built around missed connections and mistaken identities. Piper, now turn 22 and still the hopeless (hopeful she said herself lol🤣) romantic we've seen still an emo and fun teen kid in earlier books, dreams of her own movie‑worthy love story. Enter Holden Archer, Hollywood heartthrob and her longtime crush, whose path collides with hers through witty text exchanges, playful banter, and one hilariously complicated setup that eventually strands them together in a snowed‑in cabin. Their chemistry sparks instantly, and the family and friend dynamics add warmth and authenticity to the story.

While the book is sweet, funny, and entertaining, it doesn't break new ground. The dual POV and text message format keep things lively, but the plot leans more into vibes than depth. I mean yest, there's the dept feeling from Holden, but the scene is rather too quickly especially after they met in person after exchanging texts from before. The first half shines with humor and banter, while the latter half focuses on swoony payoff rather than heavy drama. Thankfully, there's no third‑act breakup dragging things down, and Holden really steps up once things get serious, making their connection feel satisfying even if the setup is familiar.

Overall, this is a cozy holiday read with lively writing, funny moments, and swoony chemistry. Despite leaning more on charm than complexity, it turned out surprisingly enjoyable and delivered the kind of festive romcom energy that breezes by in one sitting. A quick, heart‑warming romance perfect for getting into the holiday vibes. 🎄✨

Major props to Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon for absolutely owning the duet narration. Their voices play off each other with perfect rhythm. Jason bringing sharp charisma while Erin layering in warmth and wit, so every scene feels alive. The balance of humor, tenderness, and energy makes the listening experience seamless and vibrant, elevating the story beyond the page.

As I said before, I've alr set the mood for my own seasonal read. I thought I might pick up another book from a different series first before coming back to finish this one (books 2–4). But now I’m having second thoughts, and I'll actually be continuing right away with book 2. So yeah, I'm jumping into A Very Friendly Valentine’s Day like it's my next dose of rom‑com chaos. 💥🏃🏻‍♀️

Well this is Piper and she's naive so I understand why this story was written the way it was, but I still found her pie-in-the-sky POV to be tedious at first and it took a little while for me to really get interested. The emails and texts etc. were fun and Piper showed a mix of sophistication and cutesiness that I could see a young man maybe finding intriguing. At any rate, Piper matures into a young woman while still keeping her romantic heart and idealism. And she is SUCH a sweet character ya gotta love her.

The many reviews here tell you all you need to know about the story. But none that I've read have mentioned the wonderful explanations about creative writing that Ms. Loring expresses here, and though they are from Pipers mouth, they clearly are Ms. Loring's philosophies about writing romance. Kudos to the author for teaching us through Piper about creative writing theories and techniques. You're making us better readers.

*Chapter 8 “All genres have a structure. People call it a formula for rom-coms … but it's no different from horror movies or thrillers or family comedies. They all have formulas. It's about being surprised by the journey. … In rom-coms it's really about the moments. … If enough moments make you feel the way you want to feel when you decide to watch a rom-com, then you just ignore the stuff you don't like.” (Thank you Kayley for saying this better than I ever could. I've been trying to explain this to people for a long time. Yes romances are predictable, but it's how you get there that's the entertaining part.)

*Chapter 23 “I'm trying to rewrite those storytelling rules. The books I'm writing for tween girls aren't going to romanticize angst. … There's so much darkness out there. Why shouldn't I be the one who shines a light on the swoony good stuff? “ (Again thank you Kayley. We don't need a third act crisis in every story and when there is one there's no reason why the characters can't work it out like adults. I know I appreciate that your stories are low angst. I have enough angst in RL.)

*Epilogue One (Rory) “...believe in whatever plot point it takes to get two people to their HEA.”
(Let the story unfold without focusing on the little stuff. If you want to feel that rush of new love go forward with abandon and let yourself feel what you came there to feel.)

This story had a lot of really interesting stuff in it about how Piper's adult life unfolds, and it's so perfect for her. And I love that Rory is the new Piper. Really excellent job bringing Piper to her long awaited HEA, and showing us readers how to better get there too.

**Audiobook Review**

I have been a huge fan of this series since the beginning and Piper has always been a favorite of mine. I’m so excited she’s getting her HEA. “A Very Snowed In New Year” is a flirty, swoony and laugh out loud rom-com that made my heart so happy.

The last thing Piper was expecting was to see her celebrity crush while dancing in a wedding dress while drinking straight from a champagne bottle but here she is. Piper has been crushing on Holden Archer for as long as she can remember. And by some weird twist of fate, she’s been messaging him through an email account that he created when he found her journal. And also messaging him on the behalf of a movie star who wants to be his date for an upcoming event. Now they find themselves snowed in a cabin in Big Bear and through some subtle details, Holden knows who she is and is ready to be with her.

This series has been so much fun to read and I’m so happy we finally got the star of all the books, Piper Puckett. Piper has grown up a little in each story and now she’s in college in L.A. Piper is fun, smart and someone you would want to be friends with in real life. I love her zest for life and her slight obsession with the rear end, she’s an all around expert for sure. Holden is so swoon worthy and I loved him so much. He’s a movie star who’s grounded (definitely thanks to his little sister, Rory) and a genuine guy. Piper and Holden had her meet cute dream with the emails back and forth to the journal finder. The timeline spans over a few years so they both can grow and finally be together at the right time. I loved them being snowed in and that led to some very fun steamy scenes. The ending was absolutely perfect with Holden getting the approval from her uncles in surviving their infamous nights out.

Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon narrated this audio in duet and they were amazing as Holden and Piper. Jason had me swoony and smiling as he interacted with Piper through all the emails. Erin absolutely slayed it as Piper and was the perfect choice. She had me cracking up so much as Piper did her thing around NYC, LA and through all those text messages. And I loved having Connor Crais on this audio reprising his roles as some of my favorite characters from Kayley Loring’s world.

This book is a wonderful celebration of love and romance about the most hopeful romantic of them all! I began this book with a smile on my face, and it didn’t leave the entire time. By the end of the final epilogue, the smiles were mingled with laughter, happiness, countless swoons, and an appreciation of how great romantic comedies can truly be. Love and romance should be celebrated, and Kayley Loring has done it in the most spectacular way!

I have looked forward to Piper’s love story for so long, and I knew that it would be as special as she has become to all of us. She’s the sweet, adorable and beloved mainstay of the Very Holiday series who has delighted us from the beginning in A Very Bossy Christmas and continued to enchant us in each book afterwards. Her diary entries, fan fiction, undying love of Shawn Mendes and Zac Efron, and clever butt appreciations are always a highlight!

It was so much fun to catch up with Piper, who is now a 22-year-old college student and rom-com screenwriter. She is even more of a butt aficionado than ever, and is particularly fond of the one belonging to her dreamy celebrity crush, Holden Archer. He’s a charmer who is captivated by her more and more with each new happy coincidence and almost-encounter that they share. When they finally meet face-to-face while cabining in a snowstorm, it was so perfect and long-awaited and magical and steamy. The anticipation was sweet, and her ultimate HEA was epic!

I loved everything about this book! The two main characters are so full of life, lovely, witty, and have such great heart. We can’t help but wish they were real people that we could befriend and hang out with – and share butt appreciations and fart jokes with. The thing I love about this series (and really all of Kayley Loring’s books) is that the families she creates (both by relation and choice) are so appealing and fun. It was such a joy to see so many familiar faces from this series and others along the way. I absolutely adored the nod to Nora Ephron and her wonderful rom-coms. I have to say that this ode to love and the swoony good stuff is right up there with them! It is such a delight!

Ah, love is in the air, and it’s snowing romance! Let me sprinkle some extra swoony magic on this delightful review of “A Very Snowed In New Year.”

Picture this: Piper, our adorable “connoisseur of butts” (because who doesn’t appreciate a fine derrière?), has blossomed into a college student with dreams of becoming a screenwriter as big as her crush on the dreamy Holden Archer. She’s not just watching rom-coms; she’s living one!

Enter Holden, the heartthrob who’s dated more than a few ladies but is now ready for his real-life love interest. Little does he know, cupid’s arrow is about to hit him right in his perfectly chiseled… heart.

Through a twist of fate (and a dash of mischief), Piper finds herself in a modern-day Cyrano de Bergerac situation, texting Holden while pretending to be someone else. It’s all fun and games until her heart starts doing the cha-cha every time her phone pings! But fear not, dear readers! This tale is more than just a case of impostor texting. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions, with enough heat to melt the snow and enough humor to make you snort-laugh into your hot cocoa. And when Piper and Holden finally connect? Let’s just say it’s more electrifying than licking a 9-volt battery (which we don’t recommend, by the way).

The cherry on top of this romantic sundae? The overprotective men in Piper’s life, who are probably one step away from forming a “Protect Piper” boy band. And let’s not forget Billy Boston, who “knows a guy” for everything. Need a romantic dinner for two? He knows a guy. Want to serenade your love from a balcony? He knows a guy. Need to lasso the moon? You guessed it – he knows a guy! So, grab your coziest blanket, your favorite comfort snack, and prepare to be swept off your feet by this swoon-worthy tale. It’s the perfect recipe for a romantic evening: one part humor, two parts heart-fluttering moments, and a generous sprinkle of “aww”-inducing scenes. Just remember to come up for air between chapters – we don’t want you getting too light-headed from all the romance! Jason Clarke, Erin Mallon, and Connor Crais perfectly narrate this story that was totally worth the wait.

You get a star and you get a star and you get a star ... everyone gets a star!!! But seriously, this was an amazing book. I was driving for a bulk of the day and opted for an audible book during my drive and I have to admit that fellow travelers on the road were starting at me (in traffic) because I was guffawing (like I was literally guffawing) throughout this amazing work. In fact, I'm going to say that all of the other installments in this series were really just little micro-stories of Piper's entire journey.

Piper's story actually begins in book 1 of the Very Holiday series as she is a 13-year old navigating the treachery of life and fantasy and privacy. She makes substantive appearances throughout all of the books in the series that all leads to the culmination of Piper's story, thus why I say the entire series was really Piper's story with all of these amazing side characters. Okay, I'll take it back a little bit. This series was really all about Piper and Billy Boston, but really it was Piper's story. Once you read the series you will agree with me, of that I am certain.

Now to the serious kudos, Loring did a great in this book to introduce us to the Young Adult Piper who was navigating college and her dreams and her fantasies. Having moved away from Piper as a new teenager to a young adult could have been tricky and Loring did an excellent job in navigating how the reader might still view "little Piper" as a child and may feel uncomfortable allowing Piper to mature and grow up (I'm certain I could use punctuation to break up this sentence but it just all needed to be said in one breath). Nevertheless, Loring made some successful writing moves that not only made space for this character to mature into adulthood, but she did so with grace such that this reader was routing for Piper's success in finding her HEA.

Great character development, amazing story line, and incredible hilarity. I'll be binging Loring going forward. Woot~

5 out of 5 chili peppers for spiciness!

Wow! This one surprised me. I didn’t know how this one would go. Like anyone who’s ever read the “Very Holiday” series I was very protective of Piper. I didn’t know how I would feel reading intimate scenes with her but you know what, it was very tasteful. It managed to be emotional and beautiful at the same time. Not only that, but the way Piper and Holden very nearly miss each other each time they come within the same locations I couldn’t help but swoon. Kayley plays with fate and romance a lot in this book and I loved it. I felt like I was reading a romantic movie and think that was the goal. It was nice to have two people believe in love and to open themselves up to it so fluidly and with no restraint. Kayley also played with the fantasy of a fan girl meeting her celebrity crush and developing a relationship out of it. This is what any fan girl dreams about and Kayley explores this in the book. I too have dreamed of a relationship leading to this before I got married so I remember how Piper feels and can get behind her 100% on this. This is how any fan girl wishes a meet cute would go with their idol. Most authors don’t really write books like this because in my opinion it plays with an idea that is so far fetched that it isn’t believable but Kayley didn’t care. She went with it and I love her for it. It was wholesome without being too innocent and I found myself swooning so many times in this story. It was such a feel good, perfect celebration of starting a new year and everything that goes with it. I flew through this book and couldn’t put it down. I’m very happy with how this series has closed out and I’m sad that we’re saying goodbye to this family for now.

This story feels like it was written for every girl who has been waiting patiently for her own HEA. Kayley Loring has shared a little bit of Piper from the beginning of this series allowing her a lot of character development through the years. While this book can be read as a standalone, if you have read the other books in this beloved series, it will absolutely add to the enjoyment of this New Years love story.

The book opens 3 years prior to present day and piper is a young adult just starting her life on her own. She leaves her private journal in a taxi with her email inside and when none other but Pipers movie star crush finds it and emails her to return it! But there is a hook to this little detail. He doesn’t tell her who he is!

3 years pass by and we are now in present day and our Hero, Holden emails Piper again and they start chatting again. Piper has also started a new job and part of that job is pretending to be someone else via text. The person she has to text is none other than Holden, her move star crush. Piper still has no idea Holden is the same person she’s been emailing and he has no idea she’s been texting him as someone else!

By chance they both end up stuck in a snowstorm together and they can finally find out how many connections and missed connections they have had over the years.

This book gave be so many butterflies. So many happy sighs. This book was like the ultimate montage of all the greatest rom com movies and stories of all time.

Audio Book Review 🎧 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This audio book is fantastic! Just wow! One of the best of 2024 and a new forever favourite of mine 💗 I had a smile on my face the entire time. This has the perfect balance of romance, humour, banter, and spice. Kayley Loring nails it again! Reading this just after Bossy Christmas was perfect!
🎄❄️

Now, let's talk about the duet narration. This is a masterclass between Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke. Conner Crais doing some of the side characters was hilarious (Rita 🤣) and the icing on this delicious narration cake 🎂.

This story was everything, I love the nod to popular books/romcoms/culture like You've Got Mail (one of my favs) and a certain hot dragon rider with silver specks (not gold 🤭) in his eyes 😄🐲🔥

Piper is one of my favourite characters ever! I just love her so much and omg the teenage fan fic (sherlock 🤣🤣). Now Holden Archer is a hot, swoon worthy, sweet, and romantic famous movie star! The 'almost meets' culminate in a snowed in cabin for New Years Eve 🔥❄️🥵. Piper gets her HEA in the most epic way.

This book is perfect. I had the best time and I had to stay up until 2am to finish it 🫠! There are so many good reviews/edits of this book and if I haven't convinced you to read it yet, the audio community will 😄🫠

P.s Chicken fart jokes reign supreme 💨💨💨
