I had high hopes for this as I like fantasy from time to time, but I just did not care for the writing style. I found it repetitive, and choppy. In fairness I only got through the first 50 pages. Perhaps it gets better but this is a dnf for me.

An Engaging Blend of Fantasy and Reality!
Before the Apocalypse is a thrilling ride that beautifully blends coming-of-age themes with supernatural elements. The characters are relatable and well-developed, drawing me into their struggles and triumphs. The pacing is perfect, keeping me hooked until the very end. I can't wait for the next installment!

A rollercoaster ride
First, so there is no misunderstanding, this is the first book in a series and is not a stand-alone. Don’t expect a satisfying ending, because there isn’t one, just a good set-up for the next book. Scott Kimak intentionally leaves the reader with far more questions than answers in I AM HIM. Is the protagonist schizophrenic or is there another being living inside of him? Are the beings he thinks are humans and who point him in the direction they want possessed humans, aliens, or some type of paranormal beings? Whatever the answers to those questions will turn out to be in a later book, I AM HIM by Scott Kimakis a compelling read, taking the protagonist and the reader on a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows making the reader eager for the next book in the series.
