Atlantis.

I feel like we started to veer off the Ancient Greek mythology retelling of Psyche and Eros and entered this world where we then wanted to incorporate Atlantis somehow and it all felt like it went a bit of track and then all of a sudden bam GODS EVERYWHERE. WILL ATLANTIS FALL? HALFLINGS. FAMILY FEUDS. THE WRATH OF GAIA. THE WRATH OF PSYCHE. EROS SUDDENLY REMEMBERS HE HAS A WIFE AND LOVES HER. PSYCHE SUDDENLY REMEMBERS EROS IS A GOD WHO SAVED HER AND SHE LOVES HIM.
All in about 6 chapters.
THEN
JUST. AS. YOU. GOT. ME. HOOKED.
It ended and I have to wait another 4 weeks for the 3rd book to come out BUT DEAR GODS AND GODDESSES! If Psyche is not formally recognised as immortal given the job as Goddess of Souls and is not pregnant with Hedone by the end of this I will cry.
AND
if Eros doesn’t whip out his *desire* more often none of the above will happen.
So please dear author save me from my pain.

After a freezing winter with heavier than usual snows, Psyche and Eros will make plans to leave their temporary home high in the mountains of Greece. With rumors of war on the island of Atlantis, Eros is hoping that by traveling to the island he can petition his father, the god of war, Ares for protection from the other gods. Unfortunately, the war has ended, and Ares has moved on, but Psyche will be reunited with her family. Atlantis is as beautiful as she has heard but a new king sits on the throne and he is not a fan of the gods, but he is perfectly willing to use Eros to further his own ambitions. Eros will have much of his old power return thanks to the scheming of the greedy king, but with his power returning Psyche fears that she is losing him, and with the citizens planning to overthrow the cruel king, their safety is even more tenuous.
This is a fantastic book and a must-read. Psyche is determined to be reunited with her family and willing to do anything to keep them safe, but that determination could cause her to lose Eros. I love these characters. They are all fascinating and unique, and kept me engaged in their story from the first page to the last. Murder, betrayal, bloody coops, gods, and magic. This book had so many twists and turns it was hard to put it down. I highly recommend this book and series to other readers.

This is the second book in the series and cannot be read as a stand alone. The book follows the same characters and the story would not follow the relationships between the characters.

Eros and Psyche are married. They are journeying to Atlantis, where Psyche believes that her father and sister have gone, banished before the earthquake ruined their village. The pair bond close with their travels and Eros's horse Ajax accompanies them.

Entering Atlantis is difficult however as the new King has stopped outsiders from entering on all counts.

When they finally arrive at Atlantis though, things are rocky, not only between the families, but between Psyche and Eros. Psyche feels things are not what they seem, while Eros seems almost oblivious to what is going on.

We get a few answers to questions we want answering, but in the end we have more questions that need answering as we can only guess the answers to.

I love the characters development and the world building that the author has created, especially with the downfall of Atlantis and why it falls.

I am really enjoying this series, and really look forward to book three.

‘The Bride of Atlantis’ continues where ‘The Ruin of Eros’ left off and we find Psyche and Eros on the island of Atlantis. This fantasy adventure, told from Psyche’s POV features drama & angst, action and intrigue along with some off-camera sex. I’m looking forward to the continuation of the story and in particular to gaining some insight into the mystery surrounding –

While I understand that Psyche and Eros are still in the ‘getting-to-know-you’ phase of their relationship, I found Psyche to be quite argumentative and over-dramatic in her reactions to Eros’ efforts to replenish his power, knowing full well why it was so important. In addition, some plot outcomes were so easy to see in advance, that I was surprised as the story unfolded that the “characters” hadn’t anticipated them as well.

3.5 stars - book 2 - YA Greek fantasy.

Psyche and Eros set off to find Psyche's father and sister who they believe are on the island of Atlantis. After reaching Atlantis the find her sister, Dimitri, is Queen wedded to the new King.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the last but it was still a good read. I enjoyed the island setting of Atlantis and loved how we got to see how a version of how Atlantis possibly sank.

I would say this book is mainly fantasy politics over the fantasy romance we got in the first book and I think this is why I preferred book 1. Eros and Psyche has so many miscommunication and petty issues throughout the story and I just wanted their romance and playful banter back.

I disliked the character of Dimitri in the first and even more so in this book but I am intrigued about her baby's father and Psyches possibly being the same person? Looking forward to the next book to see how it all comes together.

This is the second among this series that continues the saga of Eros and Psyche. To defend her husband, Psyche maimed Phobos with a knife which in turn caused them to be cast out of Olympus and Eros was cursed. Now they're hunted by the gods, especially by Eros's brothers. They heard that Psyche's father and sister might be found at Atlantis and that there is a cure for Eros. This story is another well written engaging story that drew me in as to what happens to them when they reach the city of Atlantis. There's lots of drama in this enjoyable copy as the myths of Atlantis is explored. I'd volunteer to read and review this copy I'd received via Hidden Gems. I want to thank Maya Gryffin for allowing me to read this copy that included the first book "The Ruin of Eros" that started this serial.

I loved the first book of The Ruin of Eros series so much; I liked this one a lot as well. I kind of liked the build up of the relationship of the first one a tiny bit better than the second. This one was more action and plot than the relationship between Psyche and Eros, which is still really good. I liked how the story developed and the characters. (The book was marketed to be a book to like if you like Holly Black, but this book did not remind me at all of any Holly Black’s books so…) 4 out of 5 stars.

I spent most of this book frustrated with Psyche who acts like a petulant child, unable to communicate clearly with anyone.

I'm not sure much really happens? No big revolutions, just fluff to fill out the series?

And yet... I still want to read the third 😂 so it better be worth it.

better writing, hate the FMC

Writing is much better than the first. Feel like the author is getting into the swing of it. I really don’t like Psyche though.
