I have turned into an "Ellie Masters-ohlic/addict" time and time and time again I pick up one of Ellie books and she grabs hold of me draws me right inside, breaks me apart in so many ways and I trust, no I pray she's going to fix me when I finish reading. There is something about the way Ellie Masters writes that is a heavy duty magnet to me. I know I'm going to hurt, I know the subject matter will be extremely tough, I know I'm going to get angry, I know I'm going cry ugly tears, i know each book will tear me apart in different ways, but still I cannot resist reading her books. Rescuing Ember is the first book for Delta team and is everything I've said above and more.
Ember, our FMC is to all intents and purpose a "forgotten child" who landed up "in the system", bounced around from family to family, finally leaving her traumatic childhood behind, making and sellings candles to earn enough money to survive. Ember is a survivor, she doesn't run from adversity, she ran straight into trouble when she witnesses a kidnapping in progress and tries to save to women, Aria, from being taken. Unable to stop the kidnapping, Ember gets taken along with Aria and unbeknown to her it will take her back to a place in her childhood she thought she had got away from.
The kidnapping sets of a chain of events and the Guardian Hostage Rescue Specialists, aka Delta Team, are tasked with rescuing Aria. Tracking down CCTV fottage, the team very quickly see Ember had stepped up to try and prevent it, so know they are rescuing two women. Blake, one of Delta team, can't take his eyes off Ember when he see's her on the screen, he is drawn to her in a way that you just can't describe.
Rescuing Ember and Aria is only the start. Blake and the team know they have only scratched the surface of what happened and why. Ember is now firmly back in the crosshairs of a sadistic sex/child trafficker. She's on the run with Blaze, the connection between them is more than just an insane chemistry, it's something that connects them both as survivors of childhood trauma. But learning to trust each other, knowing that loving each other is weakness that can and will be expolited, is the hardest thing they have to do.
Their survival is not guaranteed, finding them, destroying the beast and his army that took them, rescuing not just them but the children is not going to be easy for the Guardians. Through all the anger and tears, strength and love shine through and Rescuing Ember gives you is a fiery, action packed, thrilling introduction to Delta team leaving you wanting more.
