RICK REMENDER (BLACK SCIENCE) and PAUL AZACETA (OUTCAST) weave an elevated tale of whimsical horror unlike anything ever experienced in comics and it all starts with this double-length premiere issue!
Perfect for fans of BOUNDARY-BREAKING HORROR in all forms.
Rick Remender is an American comic book writer and artist who resides in Los Angeles, California. He is the writer/co-creator of many independent comic books like Black Science, Deadly Class, LOW, Fear Agent and Seven to Eternity. Previously, he wrote The Punisher, Uncanny X-Force, Captain America and Uncanny Avengers for Marvel Comics.
The comic book medium is where movies and TV look for original ideas. Despite that fact, there are very few comics so wholly original as this. Although there are some “Something Wicked This Way Comes” influences, to be sure, it doesn’t appear to be going in that direction exactly. Really well done. Bravo. 👏
I need to read one more issue to fully judge it. But its ok. I kind of like the creepy part of it. But it was a bit too whimsical for me. Nothing spectacular for me. Just my two cents.
Oh this is going to be fun !! What adventures are we going to go with the Seasons Sister? Art is whimsical, colorful, fun, breathtaking, witty and down right cute!
Intersting, I can tell that this is going to be interesting.
I also loved the world vuilding done in this isseue as well as the color work. The coloring of this is just so well done, it really highlights the differnece btween the assumed normal and the new.
Goddamn! This was incredible. Starting with an odd prologue that makes complete sense when you reread it after finishing this issue. When the main story starts, it's one of the funniest comics I've ever read. I was cracking up the entire time from the girl's silly antics. Chasing a letter through the wind and through the town. It was absolutely hilarious. Then she reads the letter and everything goes dark. Your mind starts racing and you begin to fear for the characters you barely know. When the last panels hit, things start to click and you read the prologue again. Questions flood your mind and you can't wait for more. This was a phenomenal first issue and I cannot wait to read more! Excellent stuff. Highly highly recommend!
The artwork is colorful with an innocent quality, like a 50's cartoon or a sweet children's book. The action is whimsical but there is a hint of looming danger. The Prologue sets that up and the ending makes it clear. When the danger is represented by mime circus character, outlandishly large and colorful, you see the truth of my first two descriptive sentences.
The story will involve four sisters from the Seasons family and their names are... you guessed it: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. This opening issue is just a intro tease and it made me want to read some more.
An amazing first issue. The art and storytelling really sing here. It's basically one long chase scene that reveals so much about the characters and world. Been a fan of Azaceta for a while, love seeing him get his shine, and Remender brings the goods as usual.
I love the writers outlook for their comic, makes me excited to see what’ll come next. I also love the variety of the four women in the comic, I’m excited to see their personalities as we get to meet them all
