Escaping a concentration camp in Nazi occupied Germany, Isaac and Sophie Goldstein suffer the elements, guard dogs and collaborators in order to cross the border to Switzerland. The ultimate goal is the United States where relatives and a job are waiting for Isaac. Isaac has no idea he is about to become a hunter; a hunter of Nazi war criminals.

Isaac’s rise and success within The Brotherhood, the organized group of professional hunters of humans, is rapid. He is recovering financially from the war, as his wife, Sophie sinks further into the horrible atrocities she endured at the hands of the Nazi officers in the camp. Isaac despairs at the rapid progression of Sophie’s illness and seeks help for her that has horrible results.

Finding comfort and love in the arms of another woman does not help Isaac’s guilt he feels because of Sophie’s condition. But when Isaac is murdered, the suspects are too many to count.
