The Official CaFae Latte Cookbook

Rate this book
It's finally the sinister team-up no one demanded! Based on C.M. Alongi's wildly popular TikTok videos and the hilarious characters who frequent CaFae Latte, she and her mother, NYT best-selling author MaryJanice Davidson, have joined forces to bring the cafe's delicious offerings to life.

Here you'll find dozens of easy-to-follow recipes, from JC's Cinnamon Rolls to Grammy's Extra Crummy Apple Crumble, all inspired by Alongi's characters and mocked by Alongi's mother. Each recipe is preceded by a quick essay from each CaFae Latte character, while Davidson explains each recipe with her signature humor.

Don't love cooking? Or know much about it? The recipes are simplicity itself, with pictures and easy-to-follow instructions. There's even a pantry/fridge/freezer section so you know what to keep on hand when you've got a craving for Crazy Easy Chewy Chocolate Truffles. There's even a section on how to make homemade syrups and sugars, perfect for gift-giving!

So jump in and get reading, and then get cooking. We you'll love it. Or at least not hate it.

Reading this cookbook was fun and hilarious. The physical copy starts with a table of contents, and then you quickly realize that the pages aren't actually numbered! Tricky Faeries! The pages are filled with sarcasm and messages going back and forth between the characters. The recipes have ideas for substitutions. If this book had one flaw (except for the lack of pages numbers.) It's that the photos came out faded in the physical book.

If you are a fan of Cafae Latte by C.M. Alongi (FB and TT creator), you will adore this cookbook. Jennifer Charles and Cyrus snipe at each other through the book with several LOL (laugh out loud) moments. On her channel, Ms. Alongi discusses taking the pictures for the book to keep costs down and they look great.

As a cookbook, the recipes are simple, well-described, give hints on cooking tricks that a causal cook wouldn't know, give a full list of ingredients AND EQUIPMENT!!! (I'm in love with that aspect), and are simple - I know I said simple twice, but really, the point of these is making things quickly in a cafe, looking just impressive enough to sit behind glass for people to buy, but not impressive enough that they go "too pretty to eat". The recipes deliver on this conceit.

Would an average cookbook reader like this book? The banter between JC and Cyrus will be strange, as will talk of dragons, girlfriends named Nicole, and gathering ingredients from different levels of reality. Again, the recipes are simple - nothing really groundbreaking or new here, but the list of equipment and the causal encouragement of changing out ingredients could be helpful to new or less confident cooks. Also, well, JC and Cyrus use profanity as much as they normally do on the TT channel - not something normally found in non-fiction presentations.

For what it is meant to be, a fan service for watchers of CaFae Latte and a simple cookbook of recipes mentioned in the series, all at a reasonable price, this cookbook is the perfect recipe.

NOTE: The author says pick up either the Kindle or the Paperback edition in December 2024. For some reason the hardback did not print the pictures in color. Until she can resolve the issue, she doesn't want people paying hardback prices for a lesser product. Hopefully she can fix the issue quickly.

NOTE: Right now the book is available on Kindle Unlimited. If you have KU, check it out and see if it is a good fit for you before purchasing it. (And if you are buying a paperback or eBook, consider buying it directly from the author(s) - they get a bigger percentage that way.)

Read through Kindle Unlimited. Do I want to own this cookbook? Yes. With my diet requirements and food limitations and limited cooking and shelf space, am I allowed to own it? Sadly, no. Am I going to cheat and get it anyway? Only time will tell.

This was a solidly good cookbook, and is perfect for holiday gatherings. I think it's one I can see myself slowly working through and making the recipes over the next couple years.

It is a good one if you want a single small book to grab for baking treats. The instructions were easy to understand and follow, and the ingredients are all easy to find (depending on the time of year).

It's a fun collection of recepies but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The formatting is mainly what bothered me, both text and photoes look very "thrown together". But with that said, there's a couple of recepies I look forward to try!
