I loved every minute of this book. And the amount of plot bombs that Rachel dropped by the 33% mark is INSANE! Never saw that one coming… not at all.

Great read, fast pacing, light romance. So good!

Ridley has come a long way since using magic just to steal from the rich and give to the poor. Now she knows so much more about the magical world and her part in it, and she has to learn to trust in magic more than in anyone else. There are many huge revelations in this book but people are still keeping so many secrets. Ridley makes new allies, old friends come back and with so much happening it is really hard to know who to trust. I liked that the romance wasn't too full on and the story didn't rely on it. It's an amazing idea to be able to turn yourself into the elements such as air and water. I really like books where magic is somehow almost conscious and wants to help.

It was full of twists, not unexpected though. I kind of guessed certain things already. I had doubts about that *incident* since book 1. Turns out I was right. (Am I genius? Lol )
I was so annoyed with Ridley at so many points but I do understand where she was coming from. It was too much for her take all of a sudden. All the secrets came out at once. She didn't have a chance to breathe even. So, I get her.
I started to doubt each and every character (am I surprised? No.). And well, that character, I forgot her name (sorry character whatever is your name, Callie?) Yeah Callie I guess, I felt she was just there with others for no apparent reason. Didn't like her.

It's so strange how people tend to do reckless things while actually believing they are on the right track. It's scary actually. Not being able to see your wrong doings.
Meera was such a disappointment. I mean come on, I never thought you were so selfish. But okay I understand her.
Anyway, it was a fun read. I enjoyed it.

Good finale overall. To me, the charm of book 1 didn't carry through as strongly as I thought it would.

Format read: Unabridged Audiobook via Chirp personal collection
Narrated by: Arielle DeLisle
Series: Ridley Kayne Chronicles, Book 3
Length: 9 hrs and 20 mins
Release date: 02-21-21

Ratings:
Story
3 stars - The payoff was good but not as memorable as its potential intimated for me.

Performance 4 stars - I enjoyed almost all of the voices she chose. She was good doing both genders and animating the story appropriately.

Overall 3 stars - Good finale overall. To me, the charm of book 1 didn't carry through to the sequel or this final 3rd installment as strongly as I thought it would.

Great Ending to the Elemental Series

I received an ARC of this book but also purchased the book because I love this author so much. We finally find out more about Ridleys powers and where the came from. I wish there would have been more of the sizzling romance between Archer and Ridley but we get a nice ending! Very fast paced at times and there was definitely room to expand in this universe in the future if the author so chooses (I’m hoping she chooses to as there are so many characters I still have questions about!).

All in all a great ending to this trilogy. If you like unique world builds and lots of angst then highly recommended. Thanks Rachel for another great series!

Ridley sure forgot about her old friends fast. She's so pathetic over Archer she never once thinks about Meera or Shen. I was a bit shocked she didn't ask Archer to send some kind of message to Meera when she asked him to contact Malachi but I guess that was foreshadowing to the person she'd become.

I liked their tentative friendship but they started dating so quickly and then they were suddenly each other's whole world. Maybe I'm just over reading about teenage love? And the stupid jealousy, ugh. Over maybe potentially messaging a girl in another city? Girl, get a grip.

I'm not really intrigued by this book the way I was with book 2 based on the sample I got. It's very infodumpy and while I can see the use in reminding people what happened before, you can't just talk about everyone and everything (minus your best friends!!!!) from the past two books in a single chapter. A truly bizzarre writing decision.

Instead of getting a single mention of Meera or Shen, we get to hear about Ridley's favourite hoodie she lost in the fire she created TWICE in three chapters!

Did you know the amazon sample ends in the middle of a sentence? Not even that can get me to read on. Even if the book was free! (Which it isn't)

So I'll consider this a dnf. If I'd received a free copy I might've finished the chapter but I don't like where this is heading so I would've dnfd anyway.

This final installment to the Ridley Kayne series was perfect!

It had everything you’d want after reading the first two books. Action, conflict, liberation, magic, freedom and a memorable HEA.

It was truly fun to read and was very unique. The magic system was really interesting to delve into. The arxium and how it was used to deflect magic was inventive. The characters were easy to love. Ridley was a classic teen in the beginning, who ended up turning into a little badass elemental. Archer was the heartthrob teen everyone loved from the get-go, although as a reader, he didn’t start off as a favorite. He ended as one though! Maverick (Dad) was more than just the typical dad often portrayed in books. He was protective and intelligent. He kept Rid safe and was a strong character in all three books. Grandpa, Nathan, Saiorse, Malachi, Lilah, Meera, Shen & Mama Lin - all great side characters.

As a whole, I would rate this series 4⭐️ Loved it!

Thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Oh my, this book was such an emotional roller coaster for me that I ended up shedding a few tears twice in this book because I was so sucked up into the story.
Tying in with emotions, I love how Rachel creates friendships as well as romantic relationship - they just feel very real. The romantic relationship between our main character Ridley and another character was cute but in a subtle kind of way and was developing slowly instead of feeling rushed or forced which I loved being a part of!
Another point to mention is the awesome development Ridley is going through this trilogy both on her personal as well as magical side.

Finishing this book and with that this trilogy left me with an enormous feeling of happiness because I couldn’t have asked for a better ending as all questions are answered.

It was an easy choice to give this book five stars!

Twists n turns!

The good guys become bad guys and the bad guys become good guys all throughout this final chapter of the story. Impossible situations make people choose the best of two bad options. Who can really be trusted? Who has the same goal in mind? The running around, crescendo to the big plan's execution is almost too much. I enjoyed characters that have played minor roles in the series come back to play larger roles and tie the storyline together. Without relying on a heavy sequel relationship, the tension builds between Archer & Ridley in an age appropriate romance that could easily be set on a roller coaster! I thoroughly enjoyed the series. Each book took me a day to complete.

Wow, this book is amazing. A completely satisfying end to the series and worth the extra wait time for the book to be released. Ridley continues to be one of my favorite characters. Watching her character grow in the series, from thief to an heir was wonderful. This book was full of earth shattering reveals that added a great deal of excitement and intrigue to the overall series. Those Davenports really know how to spice things up.

I was quite happy with how this series ended but here's hoping this isn't the last we see of Ridley Kayne. There are still so many possibilities to explore with her. Her family for one. Or Doc? The rest of the Shadow Society?

More Ridley Kayne!

I fell in love with Ridley's story since the first chapter of Elemental Thief. A little longer than we excepted but it is finally here. This conclusion was everything I hoped for and more.

We get to see Ridley discover herself more and more in this book. Rachel definitely didn't leave anything out when finishing this series. I had a hard time putting it down, for everytime I tried I got sucked right back in. So many things happened in this book (some shocking) and she did not disappoint. Once again Rachel delivered a phenomenal book. Highly recommend!

*I received an ARC for my honest opinion.

Elemental Heir is the entertaining third and final book in this fantasy trilogy. The books are aimed at a YA audience, and although I am not in the target age range, I really enjoyed the series.

That said, there are many several moments in the series when I want to yell at the characters because of their idiotic decisions. When the character feels the need to say “stupid, stupid, stupid” about her own actions, they probably are.

The narrator of the audiobooks does a pretty good job with the books and suits the main character.

The twists and turns of all of this were so good, and even a few things surprised me and that hasn’t happened in a while!! Still in love with Archer, though! 😍😂
The ending did feel a bit rushed, but I thought that the series ended very well and everything was wrapped up exactly the way it should be. I’ll be honest, it took me a bit longer than expected to finish this because I just didn’t want it to end!

Elemental Heir

The wait for the 3rd and final? book was well worth the wait! Ridley's life took a lot more twists and turns, challenges, hurts, and surprises! The series was so much fun to read; excitment, secretcy, magic, romance, and treachery! Who could ask for more? Oh, maybe see it on the big screen?!

Another classical Rachel Morgan. I love her writing so much!! It's not difficult to understand and her stories are *chef's kiss* Enough plottwists to keep the heart racing and to keep reading. But also enough wholesomeness to calm down from it.

Not gonna lie, the plottwists broke my heart, but I eventually healed again. Thank you Rachel for giving me another world to live in. <3

As always this book keeps me guessing the story is not very predictable, although you know what needs to happen but things are not as black and white. I really enjoy how the new characteristics of some of the main characters make the plot thicken. It totally is a very good read. I wanted to add Rachel is one of my favorite writers.

spectacular

This adventure spread over the 3 books of the series, are amazing. Ridley discovers the hidden magic inside herself is more, much more than anything she dreamed of. The power to change the world, herself was possible thru love, change, friendship, betrayal, terror, and everything else. A better life could return after horrible things changed the world.

The story was so appealing to me. I liked the twists that the story had. I wished I had seen more love stories among the main characters, but they went through some problems that needed solving.
I really liked the magic system of the story and how the writer explained the feeling that the magic brought.

ARC received. I was SO excited to get the email for this book! Ridley certainly had plenty to deal with. It was exciting to see her grow. So much action & excitement had me enthralled. And of course the Davenports were quite the shock. Once again Rachel spins a fabulous tale that can’t be put down. A great finale to an amazing series.

Pretty good magically charged 'coming of age ' story

Ridley in equal parts, thrilled and frustrated. But then she a teenager, as the protagonist she is faced with a number of hard choices and led to make some questionable decisions. Wild ride but lots of fun.

Well, impressive development, as Ridley officially reached the point when she cannot be possibly more annoying or stupid or more of a whining histerical childish bitch. But from here, at least there is only way up :)

I enjoyed the trilogy. It’s a great concept and has a progressive storyline. Ridley is annoying sometimes and gets on my nerves. But she grows on you. I like the flow and the breakup of the books is well planned. Good protagonist.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I read it because I loved Creepy Hollow, while not at all alike and certainly not as brilliant as Creepy Hollow, it was still refreshing and interesting. I enjoyed it, 5 ⭐️’s.
