Dethroning OZ is a corrupted retelling of Dorothy from The Wizard of OZ. This strange tale is part of the Twisted Tales of Familiar Faces collection, featuring classic beloved characters twisted into terrifying nightmares.
this was one of my very FAVORITES of the entire Twisted Tales of Familiar Faces series! I am a BIG wizard of oz fan and have watched so many versions and read many as well! I really enjoyed the change up for the characters who is good and bad and the very normal names were funny and different. the modern day style was fun to connect to and I loved the twist at the end! I was trying to guess how it would end and definitely did not guess it! my only complaint is that it was not longer!! I wanted to keep reading! I am a slow reader and this took me less than a day to read!
I have to preface this with I've seen The Wizard of Oz like 100 times. I have never read the book(s). I really enjoyed this twisted version where the Wicked witch is not so wicked! The characters are... well, the characters. I loved their 'regular' names! I enjoyed the story arc and the resolution and thought it was really well done. I recommend this if you enjoy retellings!
So, the wizard of Oz but not. I, like some of the other readers have commented on, found it entertaining and different than the original, not that I can remember much of it. I liked it, couldn’t stop reading. Recommended read.
I have seen the Wizard of Oz on several occasions. I enjoyed this twisted tale. The author did a wonderful job of twisting this familiar tale. The ending was spectacular.
Another amazing book in the Twisted Tales. I’m not a huge wizard of Oz fan but I loved what the author did. Creepy and twisty just like the tornado that took the house right out of Kansas.
Great retelling of the Wizard of Oz. Creepy and dark with Dorothy as the witch! Really well written and good and fast read. Loved the characters and setting. Very well done!
