I received an advanced copy of the book. It is SO good! I love the women who shared their stories of being active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and how they are disciples of Jesus Christ. This is something everyone should read instead of watching the show. This book has nothing to do with the show. It shows people what active women of the Church are like and how they help others. I follow these women online too and I always feel their spirits when I read their posts. I teared up with some reading their stories. These women are amazing and strong. I could hardly put it down.

Becoming acquainted with these eight women who "walk the walk" as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints enriched me. Their connections to God and family are rock solid. Although I am also an active member of the church, I knew of only two of the successful women featured, until now. Thanks to Cedar Fort Publishing for continuing the public conversation surrounding "Mormonism."
It's been said "Don't judge a book by its cover," but when this book cover appeared in my Instagram feed, I immediately grinned. Seeing these brilliant women so ready to sincerely broaden the media's representation of our faith emboldened and reassured me. Now I want to feed hungry kids, wear a Bohme dress, go to a Zumba class, and update my 72 hour kits! Yes, I know that I must not run faster than I have strength, but these narratives really were THAT inspiring.

This book is a beautifully written look into the lives of amazing women who each have a different and unique story to tell. Each woman has grown and drawn from their life experiences to make the world a better place. I felt so connected to each woman and loved reading about real LDS women who shared their lives and the trials they have encountered. I loved reading about what each of them gained from the trials that have come in their lives. I have been uplifted and inspired by each woman!

I found this book so inspiring and well-timed. Our society has such a critical view of motherhood and careers and this book takes that notion and throws it out the window-you CAN have successful careers while raising a family, and having a relationship with God. Not to mention the fact that this book shows what ordinary, everyday “Mormon” wives do-NOT what sells for drama in a TV show. Thank you for this inspiring book!!!
I received an advanced copy, but all opinions are my own.

An interesting and easy read. I appreciated the stories shared from women of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their stories and testimonies of God's hand in their lives were touching. One of the chapters wasn't written very well--clearly an amateur writer.

The Not-So-Secret Lives of Real Mormon Wives" delivers a refreshing and authentic counterpoint to sensationalized media portrayals of women in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rather than focusing on stereotypes or extremes, this collection presents eight remarkable women whose lives exemplify how faith can empower rather than restrict.

The stories shatter common misconceptions about Mormon women being submissive or limited in their aspirations. Instead, we meet dynamic individuals who are entrepreneurs, marathoners, humanitarian leaders, podcasters, and advocates - all while maintaining deep religious convictions. These women aren't succeeding despite their faith; they're thriving because of it.

Each narrative reveals how these women navigate modern challenges while staying true to their beliefs. Fernanda Böhme builds a multimillion-dollar fashion empire while raising a child with autism. Allison Hong Merrill overcomes cultural barriers and personal trauma to become an award-winning author. Kerry Owen transforms a divine prompting into international humanitarian efforts that feed thousands of children. These aren't the sanitized success stories often seen on social media; they're raw, honest accounts of both triumph and struggle.

The book tackles difficult subjects head-on - infertility, mental health, chronic illness, death of loved ones, cultural adaptation - demonstrating how faith provides a foundation for resilience rather than an escape from reality. Kimberly DowDell's journey with her Down syndrome son and Ganel-Lyn Condie's experience losing her sister to suicide show how these women face life's hardest moments with both grace and grit.

What sets this book apart is its authenticity. These women aren't perfect, and they don't claim to be. They share their doubts, fears, and failures alongside their successes. They discuss how they balance professional ambitions with family life, not by achieving some mythical perfect equilibrium, but by making conscious choices aligned with their values.

The diversity of experiences represented challenges the notion that Mormon women fit a single mold. From Nigerian royalty to Brazilian immigrants, from stay-at-home moms to CEOs, these women demonstrate that there isn't one "right" way to be a faithful Latter-day Saint woman. Their stories show how personal revelation and individual agency are central to their faith, guiding them to unique paths that often defy conventional expectations.

Perhaps most importantly, the book illustrates how these women's religious convictions enhance rather than diminish their impact on the world. Their faith motivates them to solve problems, serve others, and push boundaries in ways that benefit their broader communities, regardless of religious affiliation.

This collection offers a powerful corrective to media portrayals that either sensationalize or oversimplify the lives of Mormon women. These aren't secret lives being exposed; they're authentic stories being shared, demonstrating how faith, ambition, and personal fulfillment can coexist in the modern world. For anyone seeking to understand how religious women navigate contemporary life, this book provides an honest, nuanced, and inspiring perspective.

The Not-So-Secret Lives of Real ‘Mormon’ Wives” is a captivating collection of biographies of successful, beautiful “Mormon” women who are currently influencing our world in a positive light through: fashion, special needs advocacy, mental health education, podcasting, writing, philanthropy, emergency preparedness, and entrepreneurship. Their stories are fascinating and will not only capture your attention, but your heart as well!
As these women share their stories in this book, I found they are each so relatable! They are everyday people, just like you and me. I appreciated the open vulnerability shared with their history, their very real struggles, and sometimes the heart breaking circumstances and losses faced by these brave women. I felt the pain and turmoil they were facing through their writing.
We live in times when many people in the world might take difficult and challenging situations and turn to alcohol or substance abuse, or take their frustrations out on their spouse with abusive words or actions. But not these women! Each of these faithful Mormon women, turned to God and Jesus in their time of need. They each demonstrated how they got on their knees in prayer, pled for help, and remained faithful. And they received guidance over time, over what they might do, and the direction in which they ought to go. These women found strength in Christ, and He gave them the power to become stronger than they ever thought they could be! And it’s fascinating to see the trajectory that their path of faith has taken them! They are now such incredible beacons of light to so many people! It is amazing!
In an ever increasing “politically correct” space, the entertainment world is finding there are less and less groups they can make fun of. But they seem to think that the “Mormon” church is still fair game. One example is the broadway hit “The Book of Mormon Musical”. Asking google what to expect in the musical, the response is, “The musical is filled with outrageous jokes, crude language, and slapstick comedy that often targets religious beliefs and practices.”
Another example is the latest Hulu television show, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives”. The show follows eight Mormon social media influencers from the group MomTok, who became famous for their TikTok videos. The show explores the rules of Mormon culture, including how they affect women who have moved away from their faith. The show focuses on the drama between the women, including a swinging scandal that rocked the Mormon community. Every religion has members who leave their faith and behave badly. They just don’t have a tv show to flaunt their bad behavior to the world,in an attempt to shame. This show chooses to focus on the a few women behaving poorly, and the drama their poor choices creates.
The world needs this book, “The Not-So-Secret Lives of Real ‘Mormon’ Wives” to know that there are not only these 8 beautiful, successful, and influential Mormon women who are making a positive difference in our world. But there are millions and millions of Mormon women making a positive difference in our world! Read this book! You will be captivated by their stories. You will be inspired by their actions. You might even be moved to be more proactive in faith in your own life too!

The Not-So-Secret Life of Mormon Wives by Tracy McKay explores the complexities, joys, and struggles of modern Mormon women. It’s a deeply personal and thought-provoking collection of essays that delves into the diverse lives of women in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Each chapter spotlights a different woman and her unique journey, offering readers a nuanced understanding of faith, family, ambition, and resilience.

Two standout chapters, “Fernanda Böhme: The Fashion Mogul” and “Ganel-Lyn Condie: The Mental Health Educator,” capture the essence of this book’s celebration of individuality within a shared faith.

In “Fernanda Böhme: The Fashion Mogul,” the reader is introduced to Fernanda’s inspiring story of entrepreneurship and creativity. Fernanda challenges traditional stereotypes of Mormon women by carving out a name for herself in the competitive world of fashion. The chapter details her journey from modest beginnings to becoming a global influencer. McKay skillfully balances Fernanda’s professional triumphs with her commitment to her faith and family, demonstrating how she navigates these overlapping worlds. This chapter shines as a testament to the modern Mormon woman’s capacity for reinvention and ambition.

“Ganel-Lyn Condie: The Mental Health Educator” shifts the focus to a deeply personal and pressing issue—mental health. Ganel-Lyn’s candor about her experiences with grief, suicide prevention, and emotional wellness is both heart-wrenching and uplifting. Her work as a mental health advocate, grounded in her faith, offers practical tools for healing and connection. This chapter is a profound reminder of the importance of vulnerability and the strength that comes from sharing personal struggles.

The Not-So-Secret Life of Mormon Wives is a must-read for anyone seeking a richer understanding of contemporary womanhood in a faith-centered context. It’s as much about individuality and resilience as it is about community and spirituality, making it an inspiring and enlightening read

I really resonated with this part of the editor's introduction: "Women in the Church have become tired of being represented as either repressed nuns—cloistered and held under the thumbs of their husbands, wearing ugly blue trench coats, and walking in front of temples—or as extremely sexually promiscuous and breaking molds within the Church for being 'different.' We’re seen as monoliths, when in reality, we’re all different—from our marriages, or lack thereof, to our careers, to our countries of origin. But one thing we have in common is our love for Jesus Christ."

This book is a wonderful collection of mini memoirs--brief but inspiring glimpses into the lives of different women from different backgrounds with a common faith. I enjoyed the heartfelt insights into each of their lives and felt that they all told their stories well, even those that weren't experienced authors.

As a wife, mother, and practicing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it was really refreshing to see media representation that looked more like my lived experience as a member of the church compared with how we're usually depicted on TV and in movies these days. I'm not saying that there aren't "Mormon" women whose lived experience matches the common stereotypes. But the VAST majority of "Mormon" women that I know (and I know A LOT) are better represented by the stories in this book than any character I've seen portrayed on any show, (including "reality" shows).

If all you know about LDS (aka "Mormon") women is what you've seen on TV or in movies, or heard about second or third hand, and involves the words weird, cult, or oppressed, do yourself a favor and get to know what life as a Mormon woman is really like for most of us by reading this book and hearing it straight from the source. Not all of us have the same level of success these extraordinary women have, but these women are a much better representation of the diversity of women in my church that I've known in all the different places I've lived.

"The Not-So-Secret Lives of REAL 'Mormon' Wives" is a deeply inspiring and eye-opening book that left me uplifted and empowered. Published by Cedar Fort Publishing & Media, this collection of stories offers a rare glimpse into the lives of Mormon women who navigate the complexities of modern life with faith, grace, and resilience.

What makes this book truly stand out is its authenticity. These are not sugar-coated stories but real-life experiences shared by women who have faced trials, embraced triumphs, and found strength in their faith and communities. From balancing motherhood and careers to overcoming personal challenges, each chapter reveals the incredible ways these women turn to their beliefs and inner strength to thrive.

The voices in this book are as diverse as they are inspiring, painting a vibrant picture of what it means to be a "Mormon wife" today. It’s refreshing to see a narrative that challenges stereotypes and celebrates individuality, all while maintaining a unifying message of hope and purpose.

The writing is heartfelt and relatable, with moments of humor, vulnerability, and wisdom that will resonate with anyone—regardless of their background or religious affiliation. A book to be celebrated! Finally, we have a representation of “Mormon” women that is REAL. These women are authentic and typify the hearts and minds of women in the LDS faith.

Living with Christ and His teaching in the center of their lives, these women face adversity with humble courage and go through trials with prayer and integrity, expecting miracles and receiving them. Their focus is on serving and helping others and they are each inspired and led to accomplish what God wants them to.

The TV show (The Secret Lives…) depicts a false narrative and mocks perhaps a sub-culture of wives who have yet to grasp their potential as covenantal “Mormon” women. It is uninformed, trite, and foreign to most LDS women.

The stories in this book show how the gospel of Jesus Christ is woven into the “way of being” of “most “Mormon” women. So much good is being done without social acknowledgment. Countless examples exist in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of exceptional women who love their roles as wives, mothers, and daughters of God. They are pained to see society paint them as subservient to their husbands, brainwashed, and without choice.

As is vividly illustrated in this book, “Mormon” women are supported and encouraged through personal revelation (answers to prayers), their husbands, their clergy, and their communities to be fulfilled in life. The stories in this book show women of faith who find joy as they balance church callings, careers, and family. They sacrifice to keep God and family first and serve with their hearts and souls.

Sadly, it is this reality that the world intends to keep secret!

Truth be told. I received an advanced reader copy, but all opinions are my own. As a matter of fact, I am very grateful that I received a copy. Otherwise, I would have missed this inspirational and intriguing book.

The premise of this book to include eight strong and hard-working women who share the same faith is interesting. I do not understand much of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am not a religious person. I only go to church once or twice a year. However, reading these eight life stories brought me to tears and joy at the same time. I shed tears when I read about their struggles, challenges even misfortunes in their lives. I felt motivated when I read about their happiness and success.

After reading their stories, I deeply admire their strength and determination when they faced their challenges and obstacles. It does not matter if you are a Mormon or not. Anyone of any faith can relate to these Mormon wives' stories as these are their life stories.

I especially enjoyed reading Allison Hong-Merrill's story. I believe her beautiful and eloquent writing easily surprised many readers that English is not her native language. What she suffered from a loveless home during her childhood in Taiwan shocked and saddened me. I am amazed how she turned all her problems around and eventually had pushed herself to become a writer in the states. I am looking forward to reading her future books.

Just to be clear, this book is in no way connected to the Netflix series, but more like indirectly in response to it. Each basic life story is written by the woman who lives it (even though only one of them is a writer/author). The women in this book each live uniquely different lives, in background, personalities, talents and family size, but each of them are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints, has a faith centered belief in and relationship with Jesus Christ in their daily lives and decisions and are married to men who also belong to the LDS faith.

I enjoyed reading about each of these ladies, learning their backgrounds and how they each were led to their life's passions and to their spouses. I'm inspired by their faith, their belief and their desire to listen to the Holy Spirit in leading their lives, and in their desire to serve and love those around them. I am humbled by the challenges they face and have faced and encouraged by their determination to live happy & meaningful lives. This book can be enjoyed by other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as well as those wanting to know more & those who are just curious. These ladies make it worth the read. I read an ARC e-book copy from Cedar Fort Publishing. These thoughts are all my own.

This book was a delightful surprise, and I was blessed to read it. Hearing the distinct voices of these
women drew me in completely. Their stories were so individual and unique, and at the same time, so relatable. Even though my story is different from theirs, I saw myself in each one. I stayed up until 1am the first time I picked up this book, because I didn't want to stop reading it. These are women with whom you feel you can link arms, and with whom you've been friends forever, even though you've never met. Each one has had her own challenges, her own victories, and her own connection to God that anchored it all. I felt like every chapter had at least one special message just for me. I hope all readers - especially women - will take the time to pick up this book and see themselves in these real stories by real women who love the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and have more in common with the rest of us than we have differences. Stepping into this book was like stepping into a community of women who all had at least one common thread connecting them - they spoke the language of the love of God. I enjoyed this book immensely as I love to read stories of faith. "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" is a popular Hulu series about the the scandalous world of a group of Mormon mom influencers. While the show may be entertaining and interesting to some, most discerning viewers will realize it is not accurate description of most Mormon women, certainly not the ones I have associated with in my life.
This book was written not to challenge the Hulu series directly or to encourage people not to watch it, but rather to give readers another perspective of how many married women of faith live. To share their dreams, hopes, disappointments, failures and successes. I very much enjoyed reading the experiences of these women who had clearly struggled with many difficult situations, but had found ways to rise above them. Each woman featured is a wife, mother and has a career. It do think the book would have been even better if they had included women and mothers who chose not to have a career as well or women that had remained single. But maybe that could be a sequel?
The book will be valuable for people who appreciate faith and how it can motivate us and for those who just enjoy good, human interest stories.

This book explores the diversity of everyday women who show us how they navigate their complex lives with faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ- teachings from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also known as “Mormons” as referenced in the title.

What I appreciated in each of their stories was that I could see not only myself, but nearly every woman I know whether they were “Mormons” or not. Every woman I know desires the best in her marriage and for her family, for her community and success in her personal life- whatever her gifts and talents are, and this book illustrates that in each of these women’s stories.

I think this book opens up a further conversation in reference to the reality show and others that are similar in how it depicts women in their roles. Don’t we all want the same things? How can we as women better support each other? How can we come together better and bridge the gaps? I think this book does a great job showing a way forward for women to connect better in a more authentic way.

I found the stories of these eight women and their resilience in the face of challenges and heartache inspiring. The life experiences they share in this book are relatable to people the world over as they deal with situations such as work-life balance, health crises, mental health challenges, financial ruin, loss of loved ones, abuse, and persecution. These women come from varied backgrounds and cultures, but they all credit their success to their faith in Jesus Christ and knowing who they are: daughters of a loving Father in Heaven.
Their stories are refreshing examples of how being "successful" has nothing to do with money and power, and everything to do with being confident in knowing who one is, what one's purpose is in life, and the relationships one has with other people. On top of that, these are true accounts from the lives of real women without added drama, speculation, or exaggeration.

I received an advanced reader copy, but all opinions stated are my own. I found this book to be uplifting and eye opening.

I liked this book more than I expected to. The different women's stories were unique and showed each woman overcoming personal struggles in her life. The introduction to the book states the book's purpose is to show that Latter-day Saint women are not a monolith, and I think this collection of personal narratives does a great job of highlighting different life experiences. There were certainly stories that were more interesting and resonant for me personally than others, but I think overall the book fulfills its purpose and highlights several remarkable women.

I don't love the defensiveness of the title--while I think the reality show it references isn't especially representative of Latter-Day Saint women as a whole (although it does have its moments), I don't love dragging anyone down, and I do feel like there is a bit of that implied here. But aside from that, I do think the book highlights interesting, strong women.

I love love this book. I received this book as a gift but I was so excited to see this book was coming out. I heard about the reality tv show coming out and was worried because here is another show claim to have members and I knew there was a huge chance it would be filled with things that do not align with being a member of the church. However disappointment didn’t stay long when I started to see members of the church share their Sacred Lives of Latter Day women or Not Secret Lives of Mormon Wives content and I started sharing that with friends and on my social media. Now to see more stories compiled together in a book is beautiful! I did cry while reading a few of the stories but I highly recommend reading this book. Also as I finished the book, I got a notification about a new song. “Only For A Moment by Danny Gokey - if you are going through something, maybe take a minute to listen to it.

I literally could not put this down-the stories were so honest, intriguing, and beautiful. Each woman shared her personal stories-they each overcame extreme circumstances, some absolutely devastating, to achieve heights greater then even they probably could ever have imagined. Each woman had a dream to change not only her life, but to change the world. Whether you are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ or not, you will find this one of the most inspiring books you have ever read!!! They each have a testimony of Jesus Christ and of the role of their steadfast faith in the Lord, and they give praise and glory to both. If you ever doubt that Heavenly Father is in the details, this book will assure you that he is! I hope millions of people read this book because these are the kind of stories that can change hearts, minds, and the world!

Inspiring, relatable, & touching, I genuinely had a hard time putting this book down. The experiences shared by each woman in this book touched my heart. I realized, although life may seem or look perfect for many on the outside, the difficulties and trials we endure here on earth are what make us who we are today.

From poverty, illness, abuse, divorce, ailing parents, raising children with disabilities, and more, emerged incredible women who have built their foundation on Jesus Christ.

I am not only inspired, but grateful for the opportunity to get to know these women more intimately through their relatable and touching stories. It felt like chatting with close friends. What a wonderful read, and a remarkable, supportive community of women we can find through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I received an advanced reader copy, but all opinions are my own.

I enjoyed reading the stories of the women's experiences with hardships and how they overcame the trials and did the best they could. A few of the stories included immigration experiences, which I love to read about since I'm an immigrant myself. Many of the stories are tear-jerkers. They talk of very hard things, such as deaths in the family, pregnancy problems, infertility, and other health conditions.

A few other fascinating things that stood out to me throughout the book were: a maid that prophesied, a synchronicity with numbers, and a woman having a lucid dream and other dreams that helped her know what path to take. I also enjoyed the love stories they shared, of how they met their future spouse. It was very inspiring reading about the difficulties of life and overcoming the challenges.

This book is full true stories from some truly amazing women, who all happen to be members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Each of them has gone through some very hard things, but they have all come out stronger than they were before. Because of their faith. And that's a beautiful thing.

I love that I was able to get to "know" some of these women this way. Of the eight women featured, I had heard of two. And met just one of those. But each of the women's story helped them to step off the page so that I could learn more about them.

This book touched me so much. There were some sections that I cried through.

I hope that I can live my life with half as much faith as these women show.

Don't miss this book!

I absolutely loved reading this book! The stories these wonderful women share are very real and raw and open your eyes to see that though on the outside people look successful and like life is just all put together for them, they’ve each had their challenges and trials and also learned so much from them!

Love that they shared their testimonies of Christ through example and real life experiences. He is in the details of our life’s and these ladies show that in a beautiful way!

They also shared life as a “Mormon” but not in a pushy way, just one with love and realness and showed how being a member and having faith in Christ has guided and blessed their life.

Would recommend this book to anyone. Their stories are just inspiring!

THIS!! These women finally represent ME and my church and the way the we really are! These women are beautiful inside and out and their stories are captivating and full of hope. There are so many incorrect narratives out in the world that claim to represent The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, yet they all leave me scratching my head. I don't know any women that claim to be LDS that act in the way they are acting.... until now. I recognized a part of myself in some of their stories. I recognized their struggles and fears, and how they turned to God in their times of need. The world needs this book. It needs the reality check of who we truly are. This is a beautiful way to introduce the world to the REAL housewives that are true to their values and beliefs.

I received my copy of this book from the publisher.

Contrary to the message often portrayed on social-media sites, women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are often very accomplished. They balance their faith and family while still enjoying successful careers. This book describes the lives of ten faithful women in spite of family challenges rose to very successful careers. There is plenty of inspiration here, especially for someone facing their own personnel struggles. In this chaotic world which tends to focus on negative sensationalism, it is inspiring to read the stories of women who have succeeded inspite of what has been thrown their way.

"The Not-So-Secret Lives of Real Mormon Wives" is a fascinating and heartfelt exploration of faith, family, and individuality. For a reality-based book, it is truly fantastic. The struggles these women faced felt incredibly real, and the stories are told in such a way that you can’t help but empathize with their journeys. I was especially moved by how Christ's blessings touched each woman and their families, offering hope and strength through challenging times. This book is both inspiring and thought-provoking—a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the complex balance between faith and personal identity. I received an ARC, the opinions are my own.

Such a lovely experience to read about these amazing, human, strong, and real “Mormon Wives” who are active in their faith and family and share how they are so much the better for it. Real, active women, with good marriages, families, strong faith, and so many good stories to tell us. So much better than the rediculous, sensationalized “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” which is not a realistic portrayal at all, and is based on deceptive motivation for sensationalism.

This book inspired me as I read the stories of these 8 remarkable women. A common thread in all their lives is their faithful and rock solid attitudes and their perseverance through the ups and downs and the struggles and triumphs of life. It was a breath of fresh air to read of their dedicated marriages and their devotion to family while still fulfilling their dreams and aspirations. I appreciated their honesty in sharing their life stories and thank the publisher and the contributors for an excellent literary contribution to all those who will have the opportunity to read this wonderful book.
