I have read all of the author's books and I'm a huge fan of his work. This is by far his best book! We finally get the prequel we've been waiting for with the story of young Jacob Wessek facing the trials and tribulations of High School. Jacob's darker half is pushing him to commit horrific acts of violence and there are others working for the forces of evil that are guiding him in the wrong direction. Can he overcome this wicked push to unleash the beast within? This is a page turner and make sure you have a box of tissue because the tears can't be held back. I highly recommend you pick up a copy from this Amazing author.
Another note - Mr. Kimak is dying of Lung Cancer so this might be his last book. It will be a shame when he's gone because I feel he's one of the best authors out there.
Before the Apocalypse: I AM HIM by Scott W. Kimak is a fast-paced young adult thriller about Jacob, a high schooler with a dangerous secret—an inner voice urging him toward violence. As he struggles to control it, mysterious forces push him closer to the edge. Is it mental illness, something supernatural, or both?
I found this story completely gripping, with a great balance of action, suspense, and deep emotion. Jacob’s struggles felt real, and the twists kept me guessing until the very end. If you’re a fan of dark, supernatural thrillers that make you think, I highly recommend this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this supernatural thriller. A coming of age story, yes, but it packs a wallop and provides readers with lots of ups and downs as Jacob navigates growing up with a voice or force inside that drives him to the edge. I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy narrative thrillers.
