Book 2 of The Bloodsong Series

The King is on the Hunt...

Carlos has lived for nearly a thousand years. His human life ended, and he never looked back. As a vampire, he could take what he wanted, feed and kill without remorse. The Vampire War ceased centuries ago, but the animosity lives on. Now, Venice is his domain, and his clan are his responsibility. Anyone who dares to challenge him will face his wrath.

Camila’s entire life purpose has been to eradicate vampires. It’s all she’s ever known. Her mother is killed in a hunt, and she’s sent to Venice to investigate a possible vampire related-death. What was supposed to be a solo vampire is actually one of the most bloodthirsty killers in history, and King to his loyal clan. Hunters find strength in numbers, but she must face him alone.

Carlos and Camila’s attempts to kill each other pull them into the most brutal battle either one of them has fought yet. Will the King be brought to his knees, or will Huntress and vampire be consumed by the fire within?

There are a lot of things to say about this book. In this book, unlike the first where the central focus was the romance plot, the central theme becomes the fantasy plot. Here we see the foundations that were laid in the first book fully developed and explored. The origins of Carlos and Matteo's clan are better explained, we delve into the history of the Hunters through Camila’s family history, and more generally the history between Vampires and Hunters. Another element that I really appreciated were the settings. Already in Bloodsong the author had demonstrated her ability to write places beautifully, so much so that the reader could easily imagine himself there with the characters. Here too, the places were described in a vivid and exciting way.
Carlos, as we had already met him in Bloodsong, remains a wonderful character and in this book he won me over even more. He is one of the most multifaceted characters in this series, and each chapter was a discovery. Camila, new entry in this second volume, it took me longer before I fully appreciated her. Maybe my mistake was, unconsciously, constantly comparing her to Quinn, who I loved from the first page. Anyway, I ended up loving her too. Quinn and Matteo are very present in this second volume, which I really appreciated as I became so fond of them and their story. I've grown fond of this world and these characters, I can't wait to read book 3.

'Consumed' was such a great read! Set in beautiful Venice, this is the second book in this series by Serra Rose, and King Carlos is everything! He's so unapologetically Vampire. If you love a good Enemies to Lovers trope and sensual, dangerous vampires, here it is.

After leaving Melbourne and rhe events in 'Bloodsong' 20 years before, Carlos and his small clan of vamps have claimed Venice as their own, they prowl the streets, feeding on tourists, avoiding kills due to the Accords, rules set in place centuries before between Vampires and Hunters. Yet a Hunter has still arrived to take them out.
Camilla has been sent to Venice by her Hunter father to take care of the La Voz clan, even though a lone hunter would never be expected to take on even one vamp alone. Bad dad. Carlos and Camilla then spend the first half of the book attempting to kill each other, but they just can't quite complete the task.

There's great slow burn tension, delicious spice, violence, biting, blood and this story provides more background into this world of vampires, their history, bloodlines, leaders, relationships and wars.

Thank you so much Serra for the opportunity to ARC read for you again, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this book!

* I highly recommend reading book 1, 'Bloodsong' first, or you'll be hit with major spoilers *

Forgive the pun but I devoured this book.

I enjoyed Bloodsong but this went up a level. Following Carlos, I actually found the complexities within his character, and appreciated his viewpoint more than I expected.

I generally don't care for enemies to lovers but this was done so well that I found myself actually rooting for them!

I'm not sure if the bonus chapter I was able to read is in every copy so all I'll say is WOW! Excellent twist!

I'm so glad I started reading this series and having now read all of Serra's work, I can tell you her writing just gets better and better.

So I adore how Serra Rose creates a world that the descriptions can come to life on the page! The world building is chefs kiss! Carlos and family have a steamy chemistry, with soft moments that will leave you breathless! The plot twist was definitely not expected and I was caught off guard! A must read!

Okay, let’s talk about how *Consumed* completely ruined me (in the best way). This book is EVERYTHING. From the very first page, I was hooked, drawn into a story so vivid and consuming that I felt like I was living every moment right alongside the characters.

First off, Venice. Oh my gosh, the way Serra described Venice during Carnevale? I felt like I was *there*. The masks, the gowns, the canals—it was pure magic. The scenes set during Carnevale were some of my favourites. The tension, the misty mystery, the sea of masks...I was swooning so hard. It’s like the city itself was a character, adding this intoxicating, dreamlike vibe to the whole story.

The characters? SO GOOD. They felt so real, like I could bump into them on the streets (or canals) of Venice. They’re messy, passionate, and completely unforgettable. And don’t even get me started on the chemistry between Carlos and Camila—it’s off-the-charts intense. Like, “I forgot how to breathe” kind of intense. But there was also a great balance of intensity with tenderness. There are moments so beautiful they’ll make you cry, and others so steamy they’ll leave you fanning yourself. Carlos = 🔥🥵

The twist in this book? Perfection. I didn’t not see that coming!! Made me gasp out loud. The mix of steamy romance, emotional depth, and that gorgeous Venetian setting made this a book I’ll never forget. The writing is beautiful but easy to sink your fangs into, and the story is packed with all the feels.

If you want a story that will sweep you off your feet and drop you into the heart of Venice, *Consumed* is it. This book didn’t just consume me (pun intended)—it devoured me whole, and I happily surrendered (IYKYK)…and I’m not even mad about it. This book isn’t just a read—it’s an obsession. I’m already counting down the days until Serra’s next release. Don’t just read this book—let it *Consume* you. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

I just finished “Consumed”, and writing my review with very fresh mind, and wow, what a ride! This is the second book in the series, and after loving Quinn and Mateo in “Bloodsong”, I was super excited to jump into Carlos's story.

The book kicks off with a killer opening about how Carlos became a vampire, which I thought was a fantastic way to set the stage. Fast forward to 2045. 20 years after the last book, and I was really curious to see how the world has changed. Though I was expecting a bit more on the world building itself, I missed that futuristic element. After all it was 2045.

I loved the whole secret event vibe that Carlos invited Camilla. Super exclusive and mysterious, well done, Carlos!

The story mainly focuses on Carlos, with some POVs from Camilla, but it’s clear that this is his show. The book is dark, bloody, and has all the bite you’d expect from a vampire novel, which I totally dig.

And let’s talk about the spice! It’s so good. Like, really tasteful and enjoyable. There’s a little bit of everything for everyone, which I appreciated as a straight reader. It’s fun to see all the different dynamics, and there's definitely a harem vibe that keeps things exciting.

Erik, the viking, the watcher, is such a fun character! He adds a lightness to the story with his humorous moments, which I found hilarious. And oh my god, Carlos’s line, “I’m not gentle,” just made my heart race!

There are some intense moments too, especially with Camilla’s father being cruel. That definitely hit hard and added a lot of emotional weight to the story. The way one female’s character(not to spoil) transformation into a vampire was described just beautifully, very well done.

Overall, I have to say I enjoyed “Consumed”way more than “Bloodsong”, Carlos is exactly what I needed, and the spice was plentiful and surprisingly fun. If you’re looking for a dark, sexy vampire read, this one is definitely worth picking up!

It's always a good experience when the second book in a series is as engaging as the first, and Consumed certainly doesn't disappoint.

With an MMC who was 100% a fan-favourite in the first book, Bloodsong, and certainly a favourite of mine, the male voice is engaging and sheds light on the character's past, creating a tapestry of experiences that have made him who he is. The growth that the character experiences throughout the book is immense and continues to build on the emotionally mature side of him that comes out when he's with Matteo, the MMC of the first book. I was also happy we got to see more of him and Quinn in this one.

The FMC is a fireball herself, with a strong voice, emotional trauma that she breaks out of in the most inspiring and independent way, and a lot of strength. In Consumed we get the 'bada--' fighter type FMC but her femininity and tenderness are unquestionably there.

The romance is steamy and spicy, with a lot of different dimensions, the enemies to lovers is satisfying and drawn out to just the right moment, and the action in the book is starting to rise. I enjoyed how much we got to see of the clan, the deep friendship shared with Matteo and the unique friend bond shared with Quinn, as well as the added intrigue of the Elders and I simply can't wait to see what's next.

The representation in this book is very satisfying in its diversity and I would recommend it to any reader who loves paranormal spicy romance.

Carlos and a taste of home

First off I really like Carlos. Plus it was fantastic seeing Matteo and Quinn in a new setting with Carlos as their head. They are a small group but they have perfect dynamics and chemistry.

In this story Carlos finds himself hunting down a girl that reminds him of home. However, this particular girl happens to be a hunter. So they spent a lot of time flirting by trying to kill each other and it's fantastic.

In all of this his clan wants her dead but he can't do it. We also have the Bloodking over here trying to start a war. We learn more about what led to the accords and how they are or are not followed.

I have to admit there were parts of this book where I was a bit bored but I absolutely love seeing this side of Carlos. Also there was a character that was an absolute shock and I hope we get more about them and their relationship with someone from the clan. Seriously if you know you know.

It was really nice getting more about the clans and how they function as well as how deaths are felt and dealt with.

I'm super excited to see what happens with the war. Who might end up dead and how will it change dynamics.

“Consumed” is aptly named. Not only are Carlos and Camile consumed by their feelings for each other, but I, too, devoured this book at lightning speed. Initially, I wasn't sure how I would react to the second book. Although I was intrigued by Carlos in the first book, I wasn’t particularly drawn to him. How wrong I was! Carlos’ reactions to his attraction to a hunter held me in thrall, and as the book progressed, I fell more and more under his spell.

If you enjoy vampire novels, you'll love this one—it’s so much more than just a vampire story. Serra Rose masterfully weaves together themes of violence, hatred, centuries-old vendettas, loyalty, lust, longing, love, and spice with consummate ease. Her plot is fast-paced, her characters have substance, and she fully immersed me in Carlos’ world. This is an unmissable, must-read book.

I’ve been lucky enough to ARC read four of Serra’s books now, and she NEVER disappoints! Carlos was my favorite character in Bloodsong, so getting a story centered around him was beyond exciting.

This book takes the spice and tension to a whole new level, delivering an electrifying enemies-to-lovers dynamic between a fierce vampire hunter and a ruthless vampire king. I absolutely loved Camila—her strength, her story, and the way she clashed with Carlos kept me hooked. And learning more about Carlos’s past? Perfection.

Plus, seeing beloved characters from Bloodsong again was such a treat! With its stunning Venice setting, intense action, and sizzling romance, this book is a must-read for vampire romance fans. Serra Rose has done it again!

ARC Book Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Consumed is book 2 in the Bloodsong Series by Serra Rose.

⭐ Dark romance ⭐ Strong vampire huntress FMC ⭐ Intense vampire king MMC ⭐ found family ⭐ intense spice 🥵🔥 ⭐ fated mates ⭐ enemies to lovers ⭐ dual POV ⭐ book 2 of 3 part series

Compelling writing by Serra Rose as she tells the intensely passionate love story of Camila and Carlos. I loved reading both of their back stories, which added so much depth to their characters. This is very much enemies to lovers, but also added in more history behind the dynamics between hunters and vampires.

If this all sounds good to you, Consumed is out now on Kindle Unlimited 🎉

Thank you Serra Rose for gifting me this ARC.

⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️

Serra Rose just keeps getting better and better! This is an author whom I have recently only discovered in the last 6-7 months, I have been fortunate enough to ARC read 3 out of 4 of her books now. And they are all phenomenal.

Consumed did not miss the mark. I absolutely loved the first book in this series Bloodsong, but Consumed took it to a whole other level. I binge-read this within 2 days of receiving the ARC.

We follow the story of Carlos the Vampire King, and Camila the Vampire Hunter as their worlds meet and take an unexpected turn.

It has enemies to lovers, forbidden romance, spice, self discovery and the perfect amount of slow burn! The FMC Camila is badass and I’m totally girl-crushing on her!!

Do yourself a favour; if you haven’t yet started this series - do so now! You won’t be disappointed!

Thank you Serra for the opportunity to read and enjoy yet another of your books. I am so excited for the next one!!

I received this book as an advance review copy. It is a compelling sequel to Bloodsong. The writing and storyline are exceptional, and the romantic elements are quite passionate, which is always enjoyable.

Carlos is a standout character, and I appreciated learning more about him, as he was one of my favorite characters in the first book.

Camilla is a captivating female protagonist whom I thoroughly enjoyed. I found no flaws.

And of course, an honorary mention to Quinn and Matteo. I will always enjoy their presence.

This book and series are highly recommended for fans of vampire romances

Serra has absolutely spoiled us yet again with this beautiful story about Carlos and Camelia. I loved how the story was set in Venice 20 years after leaving Australia. It was great to learn about Carlos past during the war against the hunters, centuries ago. This book was just as amazing as Bloodsong, and totally left me with a book hangover, I just couldn’t pick up another book, as I was left fascinated with how this story came together.
I am totally looking forward to the next in the series.

I was eager to learn more about what happened after Quinn and Matteo left Australia and Consumed did not disappoint! Daddy Carlos does what he pleases and embraces what it is to be vampire. The slowburn enemies to lovers with waves of spice intertwined with anticipation of the Hunter/Vampire conflict kept me on the edge of my seat.
The ending and bonus chapter opened a whole other storyline that I'm dying to know more about!

Another fantastic read! I absolutely loved learning about Carlos and his history. He's such an intriguing character and now we know what makes him - him! I adore an enemies to lovers story and it doesn't really get better than the extra layer of forbidden romance between a vampire and a hunter. The ending of this book has me so keen for book three!
Thank you Serra! And congratulations on another enthralling read ❤️
