Rate this book
DO YOU HATE FUNDRAISING?

Does the thought of asking for money make you nauseous? Would you prefer a visit to the dentist over raising money for your non-profit organization? Do you feel that fundraising is unseemly, perhaps even arm twisting?

If any of these apply to you, you are not alone!

In this indispensable guide, experienced fundraising consultant Barrie J. Atkin helps you identify your fears. She then offers creative and fun techniques to help you overcome them. Drawing on her own experiences and that of the many people she has worked with, Barrie promises that you will become more comfortable with raising money for your organization.

For those still uncomfortable making an “ask”, she provides alternative options so you can still help your organization prosper without fear.

With useful examples and techniques, Hate Fundraising is an essential book for Executive Directors, staff, Board members and other volunteers – in other words everyone connected to a mission-driven organization that needs to raise funds.

Great, easy to read information

Atkins’ book is a must read for any fundraising professional. It addresses in plain, easy to understand language the reasons fundraising can be challenging. From knowledge’s gaps to lack of confidence, she offers realistic solutions that showcase the breadth of her knowledge in the topic. The chapter addressing your comfort level with money and talking about it offered particular insight to me. After reading this, I feel much more prepared to take on the fundraising world.
