Turning the yellowed page, fingers trembling, Tabitha studied the handwritten mysteries of the founder and sighed under the gravity of her awesome challenge…
The secret city of Isolation is hidden behind a near-impenetrable wall of desert sand and blazing sun. Founded a generation ago as an analog oasis from the digital insanity outside, its peace and tranquility have been in peril since the founder’s death. When twins Tabitha and Tobias endanger Isolation with a visit to the outside world, they are faced with an impossible challenge. They must race to recover the Overseer’s Handbook, a stolen artifact that holds together their way of life, navigating a world wide web of digital deception and deadly dangers they don’t understand.
Comparable to the intrigue of City Of Ember, the imagination of A Wrinkle In Time, and the heart of The Chronicles of Narnia, Isolation is a message-driven thrill ride for YA readers of Christian Sci-Fi and Fantasy.
In Isolation by Lucas Kitchen, readers will explore the hazards of screen-time addiction and the power of healthy digital habits, faith, and Christian evangelism.

Isolation was an imaginative story and I really admired this authors convictions and the care he put in to explore themes of faith, community, and human’s relationship with technology. The world he built was vivid and had moments that made me stop and reflect.
What didn’t fully work for me was the characters, while at times they seemed vibrant and full of life, most of the time, they just fell flat. I wanted to get to know them more and connect on a personal level and I struggled with that aspect. The pacing also felt a bit uneven in certain parts.
Overall, this wasn’t a perfect read - but it’s meaningful and has a fantastic message that I think will resonate with many readers.
The world building was good & I liked the siblings, and other characters. I did not like characters stepping out of character to tell the reader all the author wanted them to know. It left the book feeling preachy, and my mind had no mystery to solve.
This is not my preferred genre but I thought I would try it out The story is very good. It’s Christian sci-fi based and I did enjoy it I probably wouldn’t read any of the rest of the series just because I’m not a fan of the genre.
Would recommend this book! It really drew me in and so wonderfully lands poignant messages through the story. And the story is an intense ride of its own!
