I really liked this fanfic’s concept of Regulus, James, Sirius, and Remus all being writers, and how writing means something different to each of them. I also liked how the author incorporated their own experiences with the highs and lows of writing. As someone who loves to read and is genuinely amazed by the sentences authors string together, the words they choose, and the metaphors they create, I will always have tremendous respect for writers.

This was a morally gray love relationship in a very different way than Jegulus usually is. It has the student (18 years old) and teacher trope, and I quite liked the discussions about ethics that this brought up. The characters all had different views on it, and because of that, a neat, happy ending would never really have been possible. And I think that’s ultimately the gist of the story: love, at its core, is purposeless. We are the ones who assign purpose and value to it and decide whether it is a kind of love that nourishes or one that steals. But love is still just a feeling, and it can’t be put into one single box that everyone will agree on.

So yeah, I kind of liked the idea that constantly chasing a greater purpose, a deeper meaning, the perfect love, or the perfect profession can ultimately ruin people. Sometimes, all of these ideals become a weakness because they prevent people from doing what they need to do when they need to be strong. And I think that’s especially interesting with James. He has spent years building this facade of being a good person, and then, when it really matters, he essentially says, “Fuck it,” and allows himself to act against all the principles he has built his identity around. His moral failings are obviously a huge part of what makes the relationship so complicated.

Now, this is not one of my favorite fanfics, and I’m still confused about whether I actually condone Jegulus in this one or whether I’m happy they ended up together. But it definitely gave me something new to think about, and I really appreciated that.

And Regulus being a lonely, abandoned kid will always resonate with me, and I loved his growth in this one!

Honestly I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did. I’d heard tons of great things about pink lemonade, but I’ve never been a massive fan of the miscommunication trope because it drives me mad (and Jegulus in PL was certainly no exception), but there was just something so inherently lovely about it. It might have been the songs, or the vibes, or the characterisation, but all I know is that I really enjoyed it.

I really really liked the marauders being a band. The story felt a bit repetitive and there were a couple of moments i didn't like but there were a ton shit of moments i did reaaally like. I ate this fic up and i loved everything about it. Going to a concert whilst reading this was amazing because it really set the perfect atmosphere to read and picture everything.
