Picture being snowed in with a pair of loggers who look like they’ve stepped right out of your steamiest daydreams.
Nathan Clark didn’t plan on crashing his car and winding up at Fox and Morgan Malone’s cabin, but here he is—stranded with a married couple just days before Christmas.
And they’re eyeing him like he’s the perfect tree to climb.
Fox, with his tattooed, rugged allure, and Morgan, with her sweet and sultry charm, are making Nathan question everything he thought he knew about himself. It might’ve started with a simple offer to stay warm, but now Nathan’s facing a proposition that could change his life forever.
This Christmas, Fox and Morgan are ready to swing their axes, and Nathan’s about to find out just how deep their roots run.
Axes & O’s is a high-heat, MMF snowed-in “lumbersnack” holiday romance, guaranteed to make you swoon and sweat.
Just when you think this author couldn't write a saucier menage romance, you'd be wrong. I completely approve! Finally a man discovering his sexuality in the arms of a married couple that I actually believed. Axes and O's was a wet dream!
It hits me then, like a spark catching dry tinder: Could he be the partner we’ve been wanting?
There was nothing about Fox and his wife Mogan I didn't adore. Running a lumber wood business up in the mountains while getting completely debauched in their downtime. I haven't read a book much hotter than this. Both are happily married, and if they'd like a third in their relationship, neither are opposed.
While it seems insane that my fate would be to crash into a snowbank three days before Christmas and be rescued by polyamorous loggers, here I am.
Trying to get home for Christmas after a really shitty day at work, crashing his car is a freaking disaster for Nathan. Being rescued and snowed in with strangers is one thing. But what happens if they sense a connection and want to explore many variations of sexual play with you? Mind-blowing.
Let's reiterate that this book was utterly filthy yet sensual. From the grumpy, dominant Fox, to the gorgeous switch Morgan, and the oh so fortunate Nathan who has entered an alternate reality of pleasure, pain and acceptance. This was a beautiful, sexy romance. Honestly, I was hot and bothered the whole time!
I can’t remember the last time i finished a book in a single day but this was so fucking hot I’m actually in shock. I might even still be blushing, just pure filth.
Recommended if you’re looking for a quick, kinky fun time. Don’t recommend if you hate insta love and you can’t deal with cringe petnames.
Oh my GOD, what a book! I have read several stories by Kayla Grosse, but "Axes and O's" might be my favorite. It is not your ordinary love story, but my goodness, did I enjoy it. It's a forced proximity, snowed-in Christmas tale with a lot of self-discovery and exploration, truth and honesty, games and meaningful conversations. This book is cheeky, deceptively deep, very funny, saucy, and very, Very, VERY spicy. Even *I* blushed while reading this one, and it takes a lot to make me blush. Morgan, Fox, and Nate are wonderful characters. They are brimming with love, desire, and acceptance, and they each have impeccable chemistry with one another. There was never any doubt in my mind about the love these characters had for one another. I literally could not stop reading this book, and I even re-read it once I finished it the first time. Seriously, this might be one of the best audiobooks I have ever listened to. Grayson Owens, Stella Hunter, and Stephen Dexter are absolutely FANTASTIC narrators here. They all complement each other so well, weaving the story in and out with expert precision. They completely and wholly embody the characters in this book. The editing of the audio is also exquisite! Just stellar work all around. I will for sure be listening to this multiple times!
Thank you to NetGalley, Kayla Grosse, Dreamscape Select, and Fat Babe Publishing, INC for the complimentary ALC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
Axes and O’s by Kayla Grosse Starlight Haven Lumbersnacks series #1. M-F-M holiday romance erotica. On the way to a family Christmas celebration, Nathan Clark’s car gets stuck in the California mountains. Fortunately he’s saved from freezing to death by a couple from a nearby cabin. Fox and Morgan Malone like their outdoor access to firewood, hunting and more. They also are happily sexually active and have been looking for just the right third to join them in their passionate life style. Nathan wasn’t aware he was missing anything in his life until now. This unexpected holiday detour may be the best change of his life.
🎧 I listened to an audiobook performed by Grayson Owens, Stella Hunter and Stephen Dexter. All did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life and loving. Passion and other emotions are clearly heard as the story plays out with each narrator performing their POV with multiple voices. I listened at 1.5 and slightly higher for a closer match to local conversation speed.
Wheh! Fanning myself with this one. Swoony and steamy with deep emotional connections between partners and always careful assurance of a clear yes from everyone.
Kayla, Kayla, Kayla.... WOW! This was so gosh darn incredible... I don't really have much else to say. I demolished it SO quickly, the spice was incredible and 80% of this book... exactly what I was hoping for. Despite the heavy emphasis on spice, there was such incredible character development and growth which took place. I'm in love with all three of our characters! I usually can't stand a grumpy character (especially one to this level of grump), which shows just how well Kayla was able to develop the characters in a short window of time.
Absolutely incredible, I cannot WAIT to read more Kayla Grosse!!
AUDIOBOOK VERSION This was such a fun reread of the book! The voice actors were incredible, and were really good at depicting the different characters during their own character's voice, which can definitely be a challenge for some. It really brought the story to life and I was absolutely obsessed. Was definitely listening to it in places I should not have... it was that compelling! Was so lucky to get this as an ALC, thank you NetGalley!
I’ve been reading Kayla’s catalog and when I saw MMF Polyamorous Lumberjack I was so excited! Something I loved about this book is how open and honest the communication was. It’s nice to see caution and hesitancy in a new relationship that doesn’t fall into a miscommunication trope. I really enjoyed the characters and how spicy the spice was. It’s also important for me to note just how freaking sweet, adorable and vulnerable these characters were on top of being sexy maniacs.
Thank you for the advanced reader copy.
I’ll read this again as a comfort read for sure. ♥️
Unfortunately this wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. It’s definitely gunna hit for a lot of people, it just wasn’t quite it for me lol. And of course I’m gunna tell you why…
First off though basic breakdown; guy gets stranded in a snowstorm, couple of hot lumber people (insert eye roll) rescue him and a bi awakening happens. So if that’s not your thing and you’re never gunna pick this up you’re probably safe to keep reading this review. For everyone else, spoiler warning starting now lol.
Right from the beginning it was just really poorly executed. Plot holes and inconsistencies be looking like damn Swiss cheese and it was annoying AF. Not to mention it was super far from believable and extremely rushed. The whole premise of how he ends at this cabin is like, what the fuck?! So brutal lol. Plus there’s so much insta love in this that it made me wanna vomit. Seriously, I don’t care about the anal or the breath play or whatever else but can we please start getting trigger warnings for that insta love bullshit lol. Fucking gross. And again, I love insta attraction and a good one night stand etc etc… it’s the insta LOVE that gives me the ick lol.
I also really disliked our one MMC Nathan, what a fuckin knob lol. He’s like the softest and most pansy ass little guy, (seriously that’s how he’s written lol) but then you expect me to believe he has a secret Dom side that’s been repressed? Yeaaa ok. I think most of my dislike for this book actually comes from this guy and what a tool he is lol.
Our other main characters Fox and… I can’t remember her name now (no surprise there lmao) were decent and I would actually read their origin story in a heartbeat. Anyway, I really liked Fox as a character and I even liked his arc, I just didn’t like it with Nathan. The FMC is written to be plus sized, WHICH IS FINE, let me just be clear about that lol, but I still don’t need to read about her soft pouch lol. Do 50% of us women reading these books have soft pouches? Probably! I know I do lol, but that doesn’t mean I want to fucking read about it! Ick.
And yall, there are just so many ick words in here it was like a damn mine field. But the biggest one of all… brace yourselves… he fists her, which is fine if that’s your kink, but then they watch his hand move around inside of her stomach!!! Fucking WHAT?!? That is some fucking Alien shit right there. I’m sorry but who the hell thought that was a good idea?! “You know what I think is really hot?! When Sigourney is screaming on the med table with an Alien trying to rip its way out of her belly! Let’s try to imitate that but make it sexy!” How bout NOOOOOO! *gags*
Anyway… Yea. It really wasn’t that bad up until a certain point and then it just went downhill real fuckin quick. Would I recommend this? Honestly, probably not lol. I mean maybe if you don’t care about plot holes and weird icks lol, cuz to each their own hahaha. If you do end up reading this, hit up my DM’s and let me know lol.

First book in 2025 and my second book read by Kayla Grosse. She makes you want to hide 🫣 and hope no one is peeking around the corner. I had no idea the book would be centered around Christmas time so I’m glad I decided to wait and give this one a go.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 🖤💙💜 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙 World building: 🌏🌍🌎 Character development: ☹️🥲😋 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
Nathan is the first in his family to graduate college and work in a corporate setting, he makes good money and is probably going to get a promotion in the new year, but for right now, he hates his job and the manager who is always expecting him to work late and do more. So when she keeps him hours late on the night before the holiday break when the company closes for a week, he quits and walks out rather than stay another hour. He has a four hour drive to the town of Starlight Haven in the mountains to his sister’s place and it is snowing. When Nathan is driving in the mountains, the snow gets worse and he spins out of control and crashes his car.
Morgan and Fox are a married couple who own a lumber company near the town where Nathan’s sister lives. They have a nice cabin in the forest where they live. They have been together since they were teens and have a very adventurous sex life. Fox is former military and is a big, tattooed, blond man who looks like an inked Thor. Morgan is also fairly tall, toned and beautiful. They find Nathan who is unconscious and near freezing and take him to their home.
Nathan, who is a nice normal guy, has dated women in the past, though he always found something missing and his relationships were unfulfilling, so he had given up dating for the time being. When he wakes up in a strange home, naked and alone, he starts to move around he hears a noise down the hall and finds a door slightly ajar. Inside, Fox and Morgan are in their bedroom being intimate, in a rough and slightly loud manner. Nathan find himself watching and gets aroused by what he sees, but he goes back to the room where he woke up before he is seen.
Of course, we can see from the start where this story is going. Fox is dominant and Nathan is pretty submissive. Fox and Morgan like to try a bunch of different things to keep things fresh in the bedroom and it isn’t long before they all find that they are attracted to each other and the married couple both wonder if Nathan could be the partner they have been looking for. With Nathan stuck due to the snowstorm, things escalate while they are in close quarters together.
This was a fun change to the snowed in with the lumberjack trope. Plus two of the main characters are really lumberjacks and I love the fact that a female was one of them. She actually chopped wood and everything. I also loved the fact that it was one of the Heroes that got stranded, not the heroine, like in most stories like this. Much of the story was told from Nathan’s point of view, which I also enjoyed. This was ok for if you are in the mood for some smutty MMF action. Though there isn’t much story other than just about the married couple bringing in a third to their relationship.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Greyson Owens, Stephen Dexter and Stella Hunter. These narrators are some of my favorites and their voices are perfect for each of these characters. They do a great job and the audiobook is a great way to read this book.
i think this is the hottest book i have read in a while! the dom/sub/switch, mfm vibes were so freaking hot!!!
fox and morgan are husband and wife loggers living in the mountains in a remote cabin. nathan is a city boy on his way to visit his family for xmas. poor weather conditions lead to him seeking refuge in fox and morgan's home. but this husband and wife like the look of nathan and they mean to add a third to their relationship.
the boob worship was excellent in this, for anyone else that is a 'sucker' 😉 for this.
I know I’m in the minority with the low rating, but this book fell flat for me. It really dragged on, and I never connected with any of the characters. Fox was unlikable, Morgan was sweet but had no real depth, and Nathan was alright, but he wasn’t given a chance to fully explore his growth. It also never felt like he was really a full equal in the relationship, which just left me feeling bad for him the whole time. This could have been a spicy holiday novella and been a perfect read, but trying to make it more didn’t work for me.
┈ Read this if you like ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ ✦ Happenstance Meet-Cute ✦ Forced Proximity ✦ Holiday Romance ✦ Bisexual Awakening ✦ Polyamory ✦ MMF Romance ✦ Kinky Lumberjacks ✦ ♂ ♀ Plus Size Representation
┈ MY THOUGHTS ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ - This book is spicy, sweet, and kinky as hell! - Things I loved about this book: the spice was hot hot hot 🥵 (with smut like every other chapter), the plus size representation for both the FMC and one of the MMCs, the strong outdoorsy FMC, and the character development for Nathan. ** For the most part, I really enjoyed this book but there were a few parts that didn't sit well with me, mostly about Nathan being more or less a spare tire. ** - Fox and Morgan have been together for 21 years, they know each other like the back of their hands, they're legally married, they’ve had all of each other's firsts, etc. I just can’t help but feel bad for the third person in their polyamorous relationship because no matter what they do he's always going to be the outsider. The one that will never be picked first because if they had to make the choice, they’re always going to pick each other. Throughout the book, they’re constantly calling each other husband and wife which is a constant reminder to their third that they aren’t on the same level as them. I just feel like no matter what they do he’s gonna feel left out. - I was disappointed with the tattoo scene. I was so sure Morgan was going to add a third heart with the letter N in the middle of it to her tattoo that has two hearts with their initials in it. I thought they were all going to have matching triple heart tattoos. I was so disappointed when I found out this wasn’t the case. That would’ve been the perfect way to show Nathan that they view him as an EQUAL in their relationship. Don't get me wrong, the tattoos they did give him were thoughtful and meaningful, but if Morgan had altered a tattoo of such significance (one representing her relationship with Fox) it would've proven that she was 100% all in and cared about Nathan just as much as she does Fox. - I was happy about the proposal scene. I think it's the only way they can help make their relationship with Nathan more equal to theirs but at the same time, it will never be a legal marriage. I wish this wasn’t the case, but it’s never gonna hold the same significance as their own legal marriage, and no matter how much fanfare they put behind this wedding it’s always going to be ‘them’ marrying ‘him’. Not ‘three people coming together’. It’s always going to be 2+1=3, it’s never going to be 1+1+1=3. Even their ‘Ours' tattoo on him implies that he belongs to ‘them’. In every scenario, they are a pair and he is the third wheel aka the spare tire. And this wouldn't be a big deal if there wasn't this feeling of imbalance between all of them, but there is. - I have read plenty of poly romance books, even ones where a third person joins an already-established relationship with a married couple. The Home Wrecker and Push are two of these books, and both do a great job of demonstrating the importance of the 3rd member. The relationship between the married couple becomes stronger because of the polyamorous relationship. The third person is both wanted AND needed. This book doesn't have that because the relationship between Fox and Morgan is already pretty rock solid. They even said that if their relationship with Nathan didn’t work out, they would still “have each other” and that would “be enough”. They want Nathan but they don't need him. 😒 More of this book should’ve been dedicated to showing how vital Nathan is to the relationship and how much Fox and Morgan’s happiness depends on him. It was briefly mentioned in the reunion scene but it wasn’t enough to feel and believe it. - Also, in the artwork online, Morgan has ‘Ours’ tattooed on her left hand?? Nathan was the one who got 'Ours' tattooed on his fingers, not Morgan? If Morgan also got 'Ours' tattooed on her other hand, then it wasn’t done in the book. If she did is off page, it'd make Nathan having ‘Ours’ tattooed on his hands make a little more sense. They are both switches so they should essentially have the same hand tattoos! - Also, where was the MMF scene with Nathan in the middle?! 😭😭😭 - Overall: Good, but it had to potential to be great! I think overall this was a fun, smutty read. I'm probably just overthinking and overanalyzing but if I'm still annoyed a few day's after I finished the book, I think it's enough to include in my review.

Axes and O’s is a wintery, fun time! This is a MMF, has plus size rep, includes healing together, vanilla businessman meets lumbersnack, snowed in, holiday romance!
Fox and Morgan are polyamorous lumberjacks who have married and together for years. They end up finding Nathan stuck in his car and freezing during a snowstorm, so they rescue him and bring him back to their place to warm up! Nathan ends up accidentally spying on Fox and Morgan and is curious and kind of into what he saw. Fox and Morgan had a third in their relationship in the past but it didn’t work out and they’re both wanting someone to join them, but afraid of getting hurt again. As you can guess, we get allllllllll the spice and snowed in vibes! This book is packed with all the heat, but brings the emotional connection that this author delivers on too. Just a fun time all around, maybe could have been novella length instead considering how fast they all fall in together, but otherwise all the holiday spice.
I received an ALC of the audiobook, all thoughts in this review are my own.
All Nathan wanted to do after quitting his job was make it to his sister for Christmas. His plans are derailed when his car stalls and he almost freezes to death in a snowstorm. Lucky for him, married couple Fox and Morgan take him home and nurse him back to health, only to realize Nathan may be their missing piece!
I love polyamorous relationships, and this one was so adorable. Fox and Morgan have a long history together, but recognize that they’d both love to add someone to their partnership. They’re both vulnerable after trying a third before, and it was beautiful to watch Nathan accept them for who they were, while also feeling comfortable enough to explore his sexuality with them.
The author didn’t skimp on the spice at ALL. Fox and Morgan were a sexy couple, and once Nathan tapped into his inner “wolf,” he was just as freaky as them.
Highly recommend!
TROPES: MMF, plus size rep, primal play, polyamory, bisexual awakening, lots of tattoos, snowed in, kink exploration
TRIGGER WARNINGS: discussions of foster care system, PTSD, and military experience
I cannot understand my recommendation of the audio to anyone and everyone who has this on their TBR this holiday season - fantastic audio narration and production.
If you're looking for a high-spice holiday book, set in a cabin in the woods - look no further. The relationship development was well done and believable, and the spice scenes were very well done. Nothing is too heavy-handed that you feel bored of them and want to skip, but you don't forget that it is indeed the book's focus. The scenes were very well done overall.
And make no mistake - the romance is the primary focus of the book. If you're coming here for a secondary mystery or suspense plot, this isn't the place. It wasn't something that kept me on the edge of my seat and not wanting to put it down, but it was fun to come back to and listen to a few chapters before moving on.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for an advanced listener copy. All opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
TW - foster care system (briefly mentioned), PTSD (mentioned regarding a MCs time in the military), knee injury from the military (loosely recounted), foster system (mentioned), parental death (stroke, past, mentioned), divorce (secondary character, mentioned, cheating ex), car accident (on page, non fatal), discussions about sexuality (incl briefly implied past homophobia), death of a friend (military death, mentioned)
Tropes - snowed in, forced proximity, christmas, age gap (28M, 35M, 35F)
Representation - plus size MMC & FMC, polyam - MMF, bi awakening, anxiety
I felt like this book flew by as I was reading. The events of this book take place over a few days as Nathan (MMC) finds himself in an accident which leaves him stranded in a snow storm only to be rescued by Morgan (FMC) and Fox (MMC).
Morgan and Fox are married and have been together since they were 14. I enjoyed reading about a throuple dynamic when 2 of the 3 already have a strong foundation in their relationship; it was definitely different to other dynamics I've read.
This was hot and spicy and I enjoyed reading these characters have fun together both in and out of the bedroom and, of course, Nathan getting to participate in some... Christmas Traditions 🌲❄️

I don’t even know how to put into words how freaking good not only this book but this dang audio was!!! I am mind blown, speechless, deceased, rip me 🪦
Nathan quits his job and heads on his way to his sisters mountain house for Christmas and along the way winds up in a snow bank and is found by married poly couple Foxx and Morgan. After awaking in their cabin the woods to them in a state of debauchery Nathan isn’t sure what to make of the two but knows his life will never be the same after this chance encounter.
Once the three of them decide to take a risk and explore each other during the blizzard not only does Nathan discover so much more about himself, Foxx and Morgan realize that he could be their missing piece. While Nathan has to unpack his own trepidation around being involved with a married couple, Foxx must come to terms with opening himself up to someone new and Morgan works on the trust she has had broken in the past.
I absolutely loved every minute of these three and their story. It was told in such a fun and beautiful way and I seriously couldn’t get enough, The spice was SPICYYYY, the love was breathtaking and the bi awakening??? OOOOOOOOF. There was so much more to these characters than just a snowed in tryst in the mountains and I loved how easily I got to know them and love them in such a short amount of time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Absolute must read for the holiday season…really any season if you want something warm and cozy while also being hot and spicy 🌶️😜😮💨
The first actual book that can be called as such, and yet, is mainly spice ✨
I loved it, it's a great fluffy, but not as fluffy as I wanted/needed it to be. It's definitely "dark" for a book by Kayla, and the first time I'd say "this might need tw" 😅
I'm surprised as well. I mean, it was obvious were it all was going, and I'm not a huge fan of the 'third-act breakup' but it's common in Kayla's works ✨ but still, it was nice, the journey and all. The poly representation was done well enough, and Wolfie just went like "let's rock some shit up" at the end lol

REVIEWED
So, I thought about it and if I took out the spice.. there's no plot. At all. It would be just him going "shall I or shall I not?" again and again and them going "shall we or shall we not?" again and again. For more than 200 pages.
So, sure, it's a nice read, but meh. I've read better from Kayla, much better. In way less pages.

REVIEWED 2 (sorry, the more I think about it, the more I get irritated because it's personal)
Maybe a bit more research on poly relationships? Dunno, felt like she used a reason to write a book about three people fucking (so damn much) and not focusing on what it was supposed to be: Nathan's journey.
If you want to write a book about someone discovering they're sexuality and being able to accept it, sex is not nearly enough. It's not accurate, at all.
And I'm talking from experience, I wanted a book that understood me. And all I got was a book where three people fucked and fucked and whined. It took me YEARS to be where I am now, comfortable enough, YEARS. So.. no.
I loved EVERY SINGLE book by Kayla so far, but this.. She took a step and tripped face down.
