No lie, while I was reading this one, I texted one of my reading besties and told her, “These people are freaking psycho, and I’m so here for it!” That's probably the best way to describe these characters. Along with complicated, dubious, authentic, endearing, captivating, and ridiculously loveable.
You reading experience will be enhanced if you read through the series, since each story builds on the last. This one could stand alone, but you may be a little lost at times since the cast of characters is so vast. One thing is certain. Spending time in the Fallen Crest world is something you'll never forget.
This one is told from three POVs, and for very good reason. Husband and wife, Mason and Samantha Kade, are the main POVs with some scenes from their teenage daughter, Maddy. If you’re familiar with this world, you know that the Kade family is mob adjacent, so this has some of the typical darkness you’d expect from a Mafia romance.
As with everything else I’ve read from this gifted storyteller, I was on pins and needles as I flew through the pages in one sitting. I couldn’t get enough of this world and can’t wait for the spinoff series that begins with Maddy's story. Guaranteed to be a favorite of Mafia romance fans everywhere, you won’t want to miss a minute in this phenomenal world.
The writing was amazing, the plot kept me hooked, and I was completely blown away. I wanted to enjoy every moment before reaching the end.
The story had so much—unexpected twists, hidden secrets, drama, love, hate, and strong friendships. It was an emotional ride from beginning to end.
Sam and Mason are my favorite characters, along with the rest of the crew. But Kade really surprised me! If the next generation is anything like their parents, we’re in for an exciting ride. When the Kades return to Fallen Crest, you never know what’s going to happen. This book was emotional in so many ways, and Tijan did an amazing job ending the series.
I loved catching up with my favorite Fallen Crest characters and seeing where their lives have gone. But this wasn’t just about looking back—the book was full of suspense, drama, and everything that makes Fallen Crest so good.

🏈 Back to Fallen Crest: Loyalty, Legacy, and Underground Fists
I’m skipping my usual review format because this book isn’t just a continuation—it’s a reunion. If you’ve walked the streets of Fallen Crest before, you’ll know these characters like family. And that’s exactly what this story delivers: a homecoming filled with familiar faces, new dynamics, and the kind of emotional grit that made the original series unforgettable.
Told primarily from Mason’s point of view (which I loved), the story brings the Kade family full circle. After retiring from a legendary NFL career—two Super Bowl rings, MVP, the works—Mason moves his family back to Fallen Crest. Logan’s still in Boston, lawyering and parenting, but when their father calls them to his company, both brothers show up. What they find is a rattled patriarch and a looming threat to Kade Industries. Enter Kai Bennett.
Now, I’ve grown fond of Kai and his family from The Bennett Mafia, so casting him as the villain felt jarring. He’s prickly here—less layered, more antagonistic—and while that serves the plot, it flattened a character I once found compelling.
When tragedy strikes, and the Kades rally their old crew: Nate Monson, Mason’s childhood best friend; Channing Monroe from The Boy I Grew Up With; Matteo from college; and later in the book Mason talks with Brett Broudou from My Anti-Hero. The reunion is gritty, chaotic, and full of tension. We even meet the next generation—Mason’s daughter Maddie, who’s basically Sam’s clone with Mason’s fire, and her best friend Max, Channing’s son and her not-so-secret crush. Mason and Sam also have a pair of eighth grade fraternal twins, Nash and Nolan who have their own idiosyncrasies.
What really shines here is the world-building. Fallen Crest may be wealthy, but Mason, Logan, Sam, and their crew came up hard. Absent parents, addiction, mental illness—they were forged in chaos. That rawness resurfaces in underground fight rings run by a one-percenter biker gang. It’s brutal, but it’s also cathartic. Mason and Logan embrace their darkness, while Nate clings to normalcy. The contrast is poignant: Nate wants the sitcom life; Mason and Logan need the fight.
Logan, though, felt off. He’s usually the comic relief, the guy who cracks jokes in the middle of a brawl. Here, he’s subdued. Mature, maybe—but I missed his spark except in one scene where they break up a party. And Nate? He’s been reduced to the “boring voice of reason,” which doesn’t quite match the Nate I remember and he didn’t play a big part in this book like he has in the past.
Still, the emotional core remains intact. Mason and Sam’s love story continues to glow. Mason worships her—always has. Their bond is steady, deep, and enduring. That said, the intimacy between longtime couples doesn’t quite hit the same heat level as fresh romances. It’s sweet but not sizzling. Though the story was a good one and it kept getting better as it went on. There were some surprises and I always love a book that is unpredictable and this was definitely all that and a bag of chips.

🎧 Narration Notes
The audiobook features multiple POVs, narrated by Tor Thom, C.J. Bloom, and Ruby Allen. Tor Thom is one of my favorite male narrators—he delivers solid work here—but I’ll admit, I had a different Mason voice in my head after reading so many books. It’s not a mismatch, just a mental adjustment.
C.J. Bloom voices Samantha, and while she’s talented, her tone reads older than Sam’s early forties vibe. Ruby Allen handles supporting characters well, but overall, the narration didn’t quite capture the emotional texture I was hoping for. It’s competent, but not transcendent.

Final Thoughts
This book isn’t just a continuation—it’s a reckoning. It revisits old wounds, redefines loyalty, and reminds us why Fallen Crest feels like home. Even with a few character misfires and uneven narration, the story delivers heart, heat, and high-stakes drama. If you’ve lived in this world before, you’ll feel right at home. If you haven’t—well, maybe start at the beginning. The journey’s worth it.
I was lucky enough to win an ARC of Kade and oh my goodness it was AMAZING!!! Tijan seriously rocked this book and it had characters from Fallen Creat, Roussou and Frisco and their kids. It also had a couple appearances from a certain mafia boss and past rivals. I loved getting to see where everyone ended up and what brought them back together. This book had twists and turns and I couldn’t even believe some of the things that happened. I am so looking forward to the 2nd generation of Fallen Crest and the spin offs that will follow. There’s so much craziness in this book your head will spin. Maddy may be my new favorite character after Logan of course. She’s Mason with Sam’s body and a touch of her own craziness. If I could give this book 10 stars I totally would. Your books are awesome Tijan and thank you so much for writing them!!!
This was amazing!! I love Mason and Samantha so much and to get a book when they are adults with kids is perfection. Not to mention all my favorite side-characters having a huge part in this book. Nirvana! And Maddie! Please, please, please tell me she will get her own book with her adventures in college. I need it!!
ARC review of Kade by Tijan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶 I have always been a fan of the Fallen Crest/Crew world! This book brought it home for me. You get to see them grown with children! If you thought Mason and Logan were a force before? Oh babyyyy you must witness Daddy Mason and Daddy Logan!! And Maddy, her sociopathic tendencies bring on the perfect comedic dialogue. This girl is her Daddy times 10 with a side dish of Logan. (Because Logan is the funny one.) 😉 If you haven't read any of the books, why wait? Start with Fallen Crest High. Dive into the world of Mayham. The Fearsome Foursome are waiting for you.
"I don't know what we're doing, but this is the most exciting night of my life. If we're becoming a real life family of vigilantes, I am in."🤣😂🤣
What to expect: 🫂FAMILY 🦖Sam & 🐢 Harold 🥊Protective MMC 🔎Whodunit 💥Surprise visit
Well that was unexpected. DNF’d at 45% and I honestly wanted to stop before that. I love fallen crest and pretty much all of Tijan’s stuff but this one was such a let down. It was frankly just boring. I didn’t really like Maddy. For all the talk about how great Sam and Mason are as parents, Maddy literally snuck out to go to a party every night. Her parents would find out and ‘get mad’ and then she was going to another party the next night and so on. The whole youngest girl being a psychic was just weird. And Mason’s storyline wasn’t all that exciting either. I vaguely remembered Kai Bennett from Bennett Mafia (read that a while ago) but their meeting was lackluster. I liked seeing everyone again but I finally had to give up on this one. Sometimes it’s best to stop a series at a certain point and I think we surpassed it with this one.
This was the book I didn’t know I needed this year! Oh my god, going back to this crazy insane Fallen Crest world with the huge bombshells & crazy drama?!?! Yesssss give me more. Mason & Sam were just as mesmerizing & fun to read as they were in the original series. Plus seeing Logan, Nate, Channing & their significant others was just the cherry on top. I love this world & I loved getting to go back. Now I feel like I need to do a reread from the beginning.
This second generation?!?! I don’t just want more, I NEED IT!! This book was a rollercoaster with bombs dropping left & right. Their kids are all so unique & interesting. (I am not shocked by this) That ending has me salivating for Maddy’s book & hopefully the other guys’ books.
Mason, Sam, and their kids have moved back to Fallen Crest after his years in the NFL ready for a new chapter of their lives. They are ready for a slow, peaceful existence, enjoying their friends and watching their children grow up. But this is Fallen Crest and peace doesn't come easily. It has to be fought for - they should have remembered.
I will forever think of this as Mason Kade's mid-life Crisis. I hate writing this review. Let's establish 2 facts at the beginning. 1. I love the Fallen Crest series. I loved the over-the-top drama. Mason and Sam are one of my favorite book couples ever and Mason and Logan are my favorite brother duo. 2. At one point Tijan was my favorite author. Fallen Crest, Broken and Screwed 1 & 2, and Brady Remington Landed Me In Jail are all in my personal library.
Now that the 'facts' are out of the way, I will admit, I have been disappointed with Tijan's writing for a while now. In my opinion, she's lost the raw grittiness that made her special. It doesn't matter because her readers are loyal and rubberstamp a 5-star on each release, but for me, she fell from a 5-star to a 3-star. However, I convinced myself returning to Fallen Crest would be a return to vintage Tijan. I was wrong. This book was history repeating itself to set up the next generation for their own series. But it tarnished Mason and Sam for me. Fighting, drinking, lack of self-control, and very little parenting were the hallmarks of this story. We kept hearing about Sam being a wonderful mom and that they were doing everything better than their parents but with the bar so low that didn't mean much. With everything happening off-page, we saw no evidence of their emotional growth and maturity. I was so disappointed in parental Mason and Sam. They didn't discipline or guide their troubled daughter. I guess, as long as Maddie can get away with attempted murder without jail time, it's all good. Sociopathic tendencies are only one of the diagnosable behavioral health issues found in this extended family.
I loved visiting with the Fallen Crest characters and this book did a good job bringing the series full circle to set up the next-gen but did not recapture the original magic. It did introduce some interesting new characters, Max and Nolan especially. There were funny scenes. The drunken ladies scene was hysterical and had they been in college setting, I would rave about it. There were some nice moments; but also, so many little details I could nitpick about. Will I read the next book with Maddie and the boys? Yes, I won't be able to resist. And I will keep hoping for the resurrection of Tijan of old.
2.5⭐⭐ Sigh.. Old me loved all this series, back then it was my favorite.... i'm pretty sure that if i will reread that ever again i wouldn't feel the same way, i would probably dnf them.
Over the years i disliked each book Tijan wrote .. i just can't deal with her plots. I just hate how unrealistic most of her books are, they are extremely unrealistic especially when she tries to hard to make some points about groups being bada$$ or whatever .
This book? i readed it but i skipped through it a lot , i liked seeing again this characters but at the same time this was again so over the place and unrealistic that i just ended up skipping and rolling my eyes.
Maddy, ugh, i'm pretty sure the next books are about her, i hate her, i don't like her at all, she is what a sociopath ? yeah yeah sure 🙄🙄 the things she did in this book and the way she acted were insane, i don't like a girl taking the lead like her, BUT one thing i do like about her is her obsession with Max and i feel like that relationship will be insane but at the same time i'm afraid i will again DNF her book because of the style or i will skip trough them.
Ugh all this book was full of unnecessary drama ,drastic things whatsoever. Anyway... we will see.
So many beloved characters all converging on Fallen Crest! Are the Kades a wee bit unhinged? Yes. Will I read every single word Tijan writes about Sam, Mason, and Logan? Yes. Heather and Channing? Yes. Just yes.
I feel like a bit of a jerk for saying this next bit, but despite my fondness for her parents, I wasn't actually a fan of Maddy. It's clear that Tijan loves her, so I'm sorry for this. I wanted to but just didn't. Unfortunately, being disturbed by or annoyed at Maddy kind of interfered somewhat with enjoyment of the story.
From the very first chapter, this book had me deep in my feelings. I’ve read every single book in the Fallen Crest/Crew universe and its related stories—yes, all 23 of them! Kade being the 24th was the perfect addition. If you haven’t started this series yet, what are you waiting for? These characters have been such a big part of my reading journey, and seeing it all come to a close hit me right in the heart. 💔😢
This book had everything I love about the Fallen Crest world: drama, fierce loyalty, and the unbreakable bond of the crew. I loved catching glimpses of familiar faces from the Fallen Crest/Crew universe and seeing where life has taken them—it felt like a reunion with old friends.
The humor in this book was top-tier. I found myself in tears laughing at some moments, like the tortoise named Harold. The conversations about Harold were absolutely hilarious, especially Nate’s jokes about Quincey bringing it to bed! And Maddy’s internal monologues and banter? Pure comedy gold.
Kade was everything I could’ve hoped for in a “finale” book and more. I loved it so goddamn much (IYKYK 😉) ❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️
"I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own."

I can't believe I was lucky enough to receive an advance reading copy of Kade by Tijan; my inner teenager was ecstatic. 😱 I've been a fan of the Fallen Crest Series and Tijan's writing for as long as I can remember, and this book, like many others, was the highlight of the year.🥰 Kade was everything and more, and in classic Tijan fashion, it included drama, betrayal, secrets, lies, and so on. You know the fundamentals of an outstanding Tijan novel. 👏🏻👏🏻 We also got to see some of our favourite characters, Mason, Logan, and Sam, as well as the next generation, such as Mason's daughter Maddy, who is essentially her father's mini-me in many respects, which made me very proud. 😭 If I go on, I'll spoil all of the drama in this book/series, and since this is book #9 in the collection, you have a lot of drama to catch up on, so I'm going to keep my lips sealed 🤐 after I tell you this: get on that Tijan trip. I mean, literally, this author's imagination and the stories she turns into novels are on another level, and you should start reading any of her books or series because you won't be disappointed. 👍🏼
⚠️I was gifted an ARC courtesy of Valentine PR and this is my honest review.
This review took some honest time to sit and think about what I wanted to say I have to first and foremost, Credit, this incredible author for this phenomenal series that she wrote I had read all the other books in the series in less than 2 1/ 2 weeks I was captivated But this last book in the series I was left feeling off. I thought a lot was left out. it didn’t really bring back any of the main character characters. You didn’t really hear from Melinda or David. What happened with Annalise? what happen with Mr. Cade and some of the side characters that I felt were never really fulfilled at the end of the last book I had high hopes that this would be more in-depth and not put Maddie at the age she was and kind of go from the middle. I just felt like the first 1516 chapters were dragging on and on and then there was two chapters of intense moments where I was like. OK we’re here it’s happening And then it just completely faded out to me as I was reading chapter after chapter page after page it did not feel like I was reading a Fallen series book I could not immerse myself in Mason or Logan or Taylor or even Samantha who I completely and utterly adore.
Tying in another storyline from another series that she had written kind of felt off as well. It just all didn’t come together for me or makes sense and I just felt it wasn’t the ending that this incredible series deserved she is one of my favorite authors. incredible books, incredible series that she has written but me personally, and only me personally I felt like this one I was very disappointed with. Please please everyone who is reading my review give this book a chance and truly truly decide for yourself. Do not go by my review. This author is incredible and she has brought together an incredible cast of characters within this series. I just felt like the final book was not brought to justice with a lot that could’ve been done And the time jump from the last to this one threw me off as well. I realize why she put Maddie at the age she did in the position they were in, but there was so much more story to tell with Mason and Sam and the rest within Maddie‘s earlier years

I don’t know that I’ll ever want this series to be over, but in some part of me, I think I’m starting to outgrow it at the same time. I originally found this series when it came out, and I was 18-20, so it felt normal to have read their story and understood their antics. But now, reading this book, I just don’t see how Mason and Sam could not let Maddy have a different life, a better life, and step in to be her parents. That feeling ruined a lot of the book for me, especially when Maddy just kept doing things that she should have gotten in trouble and didn’t, or didn’t care. Especially with the types of parents Sam and Mason had, you’d think they would want a better life for Maddy.
On the other hand, everything else about this story was fantastic, I loved seeing Mason and Sam again, one of my all time favorite couples, and getting to see the entire group together again with a mission was the best. I loved how adult it was compared to the earlier books, and yet shows how they have all turned into grown, respectable adults who want the best for their family. This book did a great job bringing the series full circle, and I loved how it all played out. How it connected to every book, how Mason, Logan, Nate, and Sam’s history wasn’t quite history yet.
I’m so very sad this series that has been with me for years now is finally ending, but I am excited for the kids books, mostly for Nolan’s book I hope we eventually get. I also hope we get the three boys books as I think their ending was perfect for Sam and Mason to have that type of ending and opportunity to help kids similar to them. Either way, I’m curious to see where the characters will go from here.
Thank you @NetGalley and @Dreamscape_Media for the ARC. Kade is book 8 in the Fallen Crest Series. This book is full of shocking discoveries when Mason Kade's father dies and his family is still adjusting to life back in their childhood town. It also centers on Mason Kade's daughter Maddy who may or may not be a sweet psychopath. A fun read. I am a fan of this series.
Loved Maddy <3 Can't wait for her series with Max! She reminds me of Bren, whose my fav FMC in the Fallen Crest world. Also, her crew reminds me of the Wolf Crew... but much tamer. Hopefully, that changes in her series lol
Lace gave me everything I could have wanted from a final book in a series. While it wraps the original characters up, Maddie Kade is about to blow us all away. She is in the running for one of my favorite Tijan female leads. Additionally, how we got to see characters from former books will always be an added bonus.
If you’re a fan of Tijan this is a MUST READ! There are so many of her characters weaves into this story that it has me even more in awe and in love with her writing.
I have always loved Tijan’s storytelling but the way she brought so many worlds together….stunning! She is always a one click author for me and with this book that is not going to change. I will not lie I have not read ALL of Fallen Crest but the way this story is written I was able to still love and enjoy this book. I didn’t feel lost at all, in fact she did a good job fleshing things out that I felt like I was right there!
I listened to the audio and it was beautifully done. I enjoyed the narrators and didn’t find myself irritated by any of the voices. I can be picky with audio but this was very well recorded.
The first chapter was not expected! Definitely set up the book well, i missed reading about Sam and Mason and Logan. Brought me back to the old fallen crest moments
Maddy was very eccentric and it was fun to get to know her and see parts of her mum and dad
The only thing i didn't like was how all over the place the book was, there were some parts that seemed lack luster and i wish we got more information on
I really liked the early fallen crest books but this one was nice in a way because we get to read about mason and sam again but they are older and it’s still the same drama same imature behaviour even in the adults. Nothing has changed. The adults weren’t exactly great rolemodels for those teenagers. Out drinking fighting etc. Blacking out while letting of steam? Mason getting all crazy on Sam in bed And those new kids, maddy’s friends. I couldn’t keep up with the names (maybe because it was really late while I was reading). And sam’s halfsister is a psyco? C’mon!? And Maddy’s behaviour, What the hell was that? And why didn’t they deal with it earlier? Maybe i’m too old for this series now so it’s getting annoying.
So three stars for getting more of Mason sand Sam (even if it wasn’t that great) and for getting more of Kai Bennet.

4.5/5 The book/ending I didn't know I needed😭. Been following this series since Wattpad days and I was so sad starting this book bc I didn't want an official end but this was so perfectly written it was like a warm hug in the most chaotic way possible😂. Maddie is so unhinged I love it! Can't wait for the spin-off series
I started this series in my early twenties, and now, in my late thirties, it continues to captivate me like no other. The connection I feel with the "threesome fearsome" is unparalleled—they speak to my soul. Watching them grow from troubled teenagers into mature, resilient adults has been an extraordinary journey. Their transformation feels like icing on an already delicious cake.
The opening scene completely caught me off guard. I expected their biggest challenge to be their father, but boy, was I wrong. Analise’s storyline shocked me, and James’s actions broke my heart. That said, seeing Analise and James right their wrongs and grow into incredible grandparents was deeply moving. They may not have been there when their children needed them most, but they still came through in the end.
A special mention goes to Malinda and David, who stepped in as solid parents and phenomenal grandparents. They grounded the family with their unwavering love and support.
And then there’s Sam—my beloved Sam. She remains my favorite female lead, a true force of nature with a heart of gold. Her growth into a caring, attentive, and beautiful wife and mother is awe-inspiring. Sam is the backbone of this family, someone everyone rallies around because of her pure and beautiful soul.
Mason, oh Mason. Authors don’t write male leads like him anymore. To see him evolve into a devoted husband and father is one of the highlights of this series. His love for Sam knows no bounds, and every page radiates his deep, unwavering devotion.
Logan, the ultimate brother, is simply unforgettable. His dedication, love, and respect for his family are beyond endearing. The bond between Logan and Mason is untouchable, and their interactions always leave me in awe.
And Maddy—Mason and Sam’s daughter—is the perfect blend of her parents. She looks like her mom but embodies Mason’s toughness and fierce dedication to family. I’m thrilled to read her story next! Generational books can be tricky, often dimming the magic of the original characters, but with Tijan at the helm, I trust Mason, Sam, and Logan’s legacies will remain untarnished.
While Maddy took center stage for the children, I couldn’t help but find myself drawn to Nash and Nolan. These two have such an intriguing dynamic, and there’s something about their personalities and chemistry that hints they’d be an unstoppable duo. I hope we get a book about them too.
A delightful touch was how the children’s names paid homage to one another—Logan Malinda Kade, Sam/Sammy Kade, and Maya Maysen Kade. And the fact that they’re godparents to each other’s children? My heart can’t handle it!
Lastly, I loved the parallel between the shower scene from the first book and this one. Whether intentional or coincidental, it’s pure genius.
Tijan, you’ve created a world and characters we never want to say goodbye to. There’s so much more to explore—Mason’s POV from books 1 and 2, Sam’s pregnancies, and Mason’s reactions... the possibilities are endless... hint hint :). I’ll reread this series every year and continue cherishing it for the rest of my life. Thank you for crafting something so special. You’ve truly set the bar with this series, and for that, you’ll always stand in a category of your own.

The Fallen Crest series is not just a book series, it is an experience. You are involved in the highs, lows, the good, the bad, the drama, the romance, the happy endings, and the friendships. When writing Kade, Tijan brought all she had to this wonderful world of Fallen Crest. I have read all the Fallen Crest books and standalones and have been in love with this world/universe since the beginning. So, when I heard about Kade, I had high expectations and was ready for this family reunion. The threesome fearsome was back in full effect and nothing could make me happier, except when Nate’s in town and then it’s fearsome foursome! Kade is told in multiple POVs, mostly from Mason, although we do get to hear from one of Sam and Mason’s kids, Logan Malinda Kade. This girl is a trip. She is so much like her parents, it’s kind of scary. I can’t wait to read her book and see what makes her tick (besides her love for Max)! When writing Kade, it is evident that Tijan brought everything she had to wrap this series up. We are reminded of the fiercely loyal group of friends/family, and that blood doesn’t necessarily make you family. The laughter was back in full force amongst the generations. Parents watching their children turn into themselves at that same age and thinking that this isn’t a good sign, Nate’s daughter, Nova, is fostering a rescue sanctuary tortoise named Harold, affectionately known as Harold the Emotional Support tortoise. Harold had me up in stitches!! Kade is a book not to miss.
