Sarah Harper drove her daughter Emma to school, surprised to notice her gas tank, which last night had been just about empty, now had a full tank. She knew she had not filled it. She arrived at work and the receptionist gave her a warm smile… which she never does. So she ignored that as well. At her desk she discovered half of her work had been completed, and it looked like it was handled correctly. What was happening to her? Now the elevator doors opened every time she walked up; meetings ended early; the slow wi-fi was running at lightning speed! Her inbox remained clear of work, and HR just called to offer a promotion… immediately, no strings attached! She began to feel uneasy. Did Alex have something to do with this? Alex Mason was interested in a relationship, but she turned him down weeks ago. When she got home, the house felt cozier? Lights dimmed to match her mood. Her daughter’s school bag, always in disarray, was neatly packed and sitting by the door; her laundry was washed and folded. This was all not a coincidence… she could feel Alex was there, maybe not physically but bending the world to accommodate her needs without asking her permission. Success comes from personal struggle, and she did not want him handing it to her. He had crossed a line.
But things reversed when she told him to stop. She got tons of emails, deadlines shifted to impossible dates to complete projects. The loss of control was driving her crazy. Even Emma noticed her mom looking angry about something when it was just frustration. But then the “bad luck” started affecting Emma and her school project was shut down, leaving her in tears when her glitter spilled, her glue hardened, the cardboard was ruined. She had to call Alex. He claimed to know what she needed even if she didn’t. She demanded he stop everything, and he finally said if that was what he wanted, he would… why did that scare her even more?
Sarah was still getting threatened by an unknown person to take the promotion she had been refusing. Alex called her to explain that Prometheus is not a “project” but a system designed to predict and manipulate behavior. It sees her now as a part of the equation and she has become a variable that must be dealt with. He tells her to get Emma from school. Someone's trying to finish what they started years ago and it’s time that they run and escape what is coming for them. Will they survive this? Or is it too late to hide?
“OffLimits Technomancer”by Daisy Grace blends technology and magic in a gripping thriller. Sarah’s life spirals as unseen forces, both digital and mystical, manipulate her world. The mysterious Prometheus system and Alex’s technomantic abilities add layers of suspense and drama. This is a very complicated and scary (in places) read.

Have a tissue handy the day you read this confusing contemporary science-fiction enemies-to-lovers(?) single-parent second chance mystery suspense caper with little parenting but LOTS of computer hacking, having minimal relationship to the various descriptions out there about the book.

Dnf at 52% Such a confusing book. Going back and forth between the two main characters, back peddling in each chapter from the previous one. Just couldn’t get past it.
OFF-LIMITS TECHNOMANCER is an Enemies To Lovers Romantic Suspense by Daisy Grace and my introduction to this author. This story blends computer coding and AI technology to create a gripping thriller.
The story begins with a top program coder joining a team working on a top secret program. When a hacker tries to steal the program, as it is being built, all clues point to Alex, the new coder. Alex and Sarah work to stop the techno thieves and discover it really is an inside job, just not Alex. After discovering who the traitor is, Sara leaves the company for a new life, away from the stress and turmoil the hacker caused. Unfortunately, Sarah’s new life is being manipulated by someone. Sarah, along with Alex, are moved into fear of both AI and a hidden force moving to destroy both of them.
Sarah's and Alex’s technomantic abilities add layers of suspense and drama. This is a very complicated read.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: While I mostly enjoyed this story, I kept feeling like I had read some sections already (think Groundhog Day).

A very suspenseful romance story. Alex is the scape goat for the actions of thechno thieves but his saving grace is Sarah . She’s been used too. The thieves have driven her from her job she’s had enough ,but it doesn’t go away . Manipulated, her life is no longer hers ,her security is compromised and there’s Alex too. AI suddenly a do or die against a foe they can’t see. They’ve been deceived and it is indeed an inside job. Just not who they were all thinking of. Too late for finger pointing and disjointing even further. What’s next ? These thieves get away with murder? Fearing for their lives they fight to survive . Brilliantly suspense and angst and romancing as they’re technomancing and dancing too. Very well written ,edge of your seat storytelling.
