After reading 34 in the floor it was nice to read the back story of Sadie Gray. Learning what she went through and how she became an FBI agent explained her actions in 34. I look forward to reading the complete series.
This is a nice, quick prologue that helps paint a picture of Sadie's background, which is often alluded to later in the series. I may be a sucker for vigilantes, but it was tough to hear about a man whose seemingly worst trait is being "mean" being stuck in prison for 25 years for doing right by his daughters. I wasn't entirely sure what to make of the Natalie switch-up and hope to read more about her decision-making in later books.
Only some critiques. The 34 on the floor centers on having three other children in the basement, and I may have missed this, but they were never alluded to in the (imagery of the) prologue. I was also surprised by how Teresa was placed in all of this, and the parallels drawn between Teresa and Sadie were somewhat superficial (e.g., both single women with dogs).
