After spending his unfair share of time in hell, Perry Atherton’s looking forward to a slice of heavenly delight. Reaching his happily-ever-after should be easy. Perry simply needs to wake up from a risky anesthesia, survive Willie Slater’s murderous grudge, and figure out why the love of his life is keeping secrets.
Having found the love of his life, Detective Nate Harmon is more than ready to put a ring on Perry’s finger. Proposing is the easy part. Keeping Perry alive long enough to meet him at the alter is the challenge.
An outdoor retreat hosted by Maverick Insurance seems like a relaxing interlude. The reality is far different. Exposed and easy prey, Perry’s being used as bait to finally pull Willie out of the shadows…but Perry and Nate may be the ones to pay the ultimate price.
Nate’s kept quiet regarding the murderous nature of Perry’s employers, but maybe it’s time to come clean. Is hiding the truth from Perry protecting him or pushing him further into harm’s way? Nate isn’t sure. All he knows is that he’s determined to keep Perry safe, even if that means playing nice with assassins for hire.
The road to hell truly is paved with good intentions. Now Nate just needs to make sure he and Perry don’t end up casualties of those same good intentions.
Paved With Good Intentions is the fourth, and final, book in the Maverick Insurance Mysteries series and should be read in order. Paved with Good Intentions is a m/m romantic mystery and contains good friends, sketchy coworkers, lazy, hungry cats, thoughtful boyfriends/fiancé's, a questionable camping work retreat in the woods, deadly secrets, an insurance agent that needs to be "fired" in thew worst way possible, and a worried detective hell bent on protecting his murder-magnet fiancé.
Paved With Good Intentions contains descriptions of homicide and mentions of a man suspected of sexual child abuse (There is no description, nor any details regarding this abuse).
I've been a veterinarian for almost twenty years and have recently added published author to my resume. I've been writing for over fifteen years, most of those stories languishing on my computer. A couple of years ago my fear of never trying to publish my stories overcame my fear of failure. The result is my first book, "Sow What You Reap". It is the first in the Reaping Covetous series. The next book, "Dead Women Tell Tales" should be out by the end of October 2021.
I love supernatural, urban fantasy, paranormal, and mystery genres. I write both M/F and M/M oriented stories.
Please don't hesitate to ask me a question or two.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy my stories. I know I love telling them.
I had no idea that I was signing up for Maverick Insurance Mysteries: Glamping Edition but I'm hereeee for it!
In our series conclusion, we go on a little adventure to the wilderness and the plot gets that much more wild too. The change of scenery brought some added fun and really mixed things up. Really, the only thing that hasn't changed is Perry and Nate's absolute, perfect, incomparable, steadfast adoration for each other. They're so cute I want to die. So cute that I'm not even that mad that they keep having sexy fun times without letting us in on the fun.
I love that M.J. switched things up this time with the mystery - in previous books, the reader was privy to things that our characters weren't, so it was an anticipation game of us just waiting for the other shoe to drop. This time, we were treated with a completely unpredictable plot twist that was divine, to say the least. It's not often that a mystery can actually kind of surprise me, so it made for a good time.
I'm so sad that Perry & Nate's story is over, but I honestly think it ended perfectly.
I'm sorry! I know that Malcom Johnson isn't everyone's cup of tea... but, for some strange reason I liked him... 🤦♀️
As for the story? I felt like this was a great ending to an extremely entertaining series! There were a few unforeseen twists and enough action to keep me on my toes... Perry and Nate will be missed.
I am sure I have mentioned this before, but I still had problems with pronouncing Nat and Nate properly! This, IMHO, was a sadistic choice by the author... just sayin'!!! 🤣
I'm actually a little sad it's over. I really liked Perry as a character, though his cheerfulness and resilience seems questionable. I feel like people aren't that strong. I think I still question Nate's somewhat stalker-like behavior when they first met but they made a cute couple. Few people can handle being with someone that has chronic illnesses. I would love to get a novella or something of Malcolm and Delia keeping tabs on them, but overall I'm happy with the story and how it ended.
My BIGGEST complaint is the timeliness. I still have no idea just how much time lapsed between the first book and the ending of this one.
I have really enjoyed Nate and Perry's story and was sad to see the end. The 2 join the Maverick employees on a retreat where we later learn that Malcolm believes that Willie will make a play for Perry. There is a twist at the end that I didn't see earlier and Perry finally learns the truth about Maverick.
Great series with caring killers! The protagonists find their HEA through the series. Great character quirks. Grey morality. Read the series. You won’t regret it! In fact, you’ll probably enjoy every minute!
I am so sad that this series is over. It will most definitely be a series I will go back to, often. So, we pick up waiting for Perry to wake up from his knee surgery. And fortunately, that comes out good. Psychopath Willie is still out there. Nate knows about Maverick and Perry doesn't. There were twists and turns and all is revealed in the end. I'm so happy how this ended. I will miss them all.
