Oh this is so good! Paisley has been in a closed convent for a little over eleven years. On the night before she is to take her vows to become a full fledged nun, she and her friend and fellow novice Cecelia leave the convent in order to find Clan Morris. Paisley wants to see her parents one more time before she is cloistered away forever. The two novices get separated and Paisley stumbles around in the dark, cutting her knee and receiving multpile scrapes and scratches. She happens upon a warrior holding a sword to the throat of a man on his knees and tries to intervene, but is too late. The warrior takes her to a nearby inn to have her wounds treated, get some food and rest before he escorts her to her desired destination. That is when she learns that he is Camden Lyall, Laird Cairn, and that there is a price for his protection. He wants her to pretend to be his betrothed for a month, and then he will take her where she wants to go. And that is where the fun really begins. Camden’s mother and the clan’s council think that he has agreed to marry Laird MacLean’s daughter Kenna, but neither she nor he desires to wed the other. His mother throws a cèilidh to celebrate their betrothal, and when a slightly intoxicated Paisley lets it slip that she is Camden’s intended, things get a little dicey. Add to that an unexpectedly nasty note, an ill fated trip to Clan Morris, a man spying on Castle Cairn, several heated kisses, a trip to the convent, arson, an attempted kidnapping, sword fights and steamy encounters, and you have a fast and furious story too hot to put down. You will find deception, secrets, indecision, misunderstandings, misdirects, ah-ha moments and sensual awakenings. There are numerous verbal and emotional conflicts, visits from characters from previous books in the series, humorous moments and a whole lot of little details that make this story realistic, exciting and captivating. It is always fun when a hunky ladies man becomes besotted, and an innocent young lady who has been wronged gets the man of her dreams. I loved this story!
Camden, Laird Cairn is working with 3 other lairds, his friends, to defeat the evil Laird MacDunn who is wreaking havoc on their lands. MacDunn is burning villages and killing innocents for some unknown reason. Paisley, a novice sneaks away from the convent to see her parents one last time before taking her vows. She has not seen or heard from them for 11 years. She got lost in the forest and stumbled upon Camden killing a man. He could not let her go on alone and took her to his castle. They struck a deal. She would help him stop a betrothal and he would help her get to her parents. But deep dark secrets unfold as the story goes on. The two must fight for safety, for truth, and for love. I loved the chemistry and banter between the two. Can’t wait for the final book in the series.
Camden & Paisley thoughts were both really funny when they first met. you could feel for Paisley throughout the book she was really entertaining, her Journey definitely moved me & was well written
Although he was charming, he was also kinda gross, & made some religiously offensive remarks, which made it more difficult for me to enjoy.
They was an interesting mistery in the story, that makes it hard to put down.
I appreciate that when they was conflict, it was resolved quickly & that Camden & Paisley were together for most of the book.
Paisley the runaway would be nun and Camden the hard hearted Laird known womanizer make an unlikely pair between flirtatrions and jokes plans that don't work out her parents not telling the her the truth and a villain that affects both of them. The is worth the wait together forever.
Paisley and Camden enter into an agreement that will alter her life. Wanting to visit her parents one last time has her agreeing to be with Camden for a month but after the month is over will Paisley be a willing candidate to take her vows with the church. This is a well written story, and I enjoyed connecting with Paisley.
This adventure was really interesting and exciting to read, the paths they had to go through to achieve the end was twisted with sitting on the edge of my seat at times! The characters were awesome. I would thoroughly enjoy reading Cecilia's story, lol. Thanks for sharing your story.
