Ashling... Fresh off a brutal break-up, I have returned to New York City to start over. Priority numero uno is starting my new business with my BFF, Jenna. Hence our strict no-guys pact. No exceptions! Until temptation walks into my brother’s bar in the form of a really, really, hot guy. I must resist. I will resist. Except that Johnny Ryan, with his Irish bad-boy vibes and oh so strong carpenter’s hands, is six-foot-three inches of ripped Irish sexiness. How is it that some guys know just what a girl needs? He offers me a deal I can’t refuse – a down ‘n’ dirty wickedly hot two week fling. Just one last ride before I get down to business. I’m definitely not thinking with my head or heart when I agree…because this thing with Johnny goes way deeper than just chemistry. And what started out as a last wild ride with a bad-boy is headed for a major head-on collision. With my heart.
Abby Green spent her teens reading Mills & Boon romances. She then spent many years working in the Film and TV industry as an Assistant Director. One day while standing outside an actor's trailer in the rain, she thought: "there has to be more than this". So she sent off a partial to Mills & Boon. After numerous rewrites, they accepted her first book and an author was born. She lives in Dublin, Ireland and you can find out more here www.abby-green.com
This is the second Cosmo Red-Hot Read that I've read by Abby Green and similar to the first, it was HOT! The only problem, I liked the story so much I wasn't ready for it to end. I wanted more Johnny and Ash.
Ashling has decided to swear off men and focus on herself for awhile. She's just moved back to New York with a broken heart and plans to start a business with her best friend. In the meantime, she's helping out at her brother's bar while he's away in Mexico for two weeks.
"No boys allowed in this area."
When a gorgeous man with a sexy Irish accents shows up at the bar, her plans become questionable. Johnny and Ash have insane chemistry from first glance. She's reluctant because of her plans, but he convinces her a wild ride is just what she needs. Two weeks worth of wild rides. They try to convince each other it's just sex, but there's no denying it's so much more.
"I want you, you want me. I think we've just proved that pretty comprehensively."
Cosmo Reads are sexy and fun, but you have to go in knowing that the story will be fast paced. I'm hoping maybe we'll get Jenna or Mary's story next.
This is a fairly short story but it packs a fair amount in. Ashling has just moved back home to New York after a break up. She has plans to start her own business with her BFF but she has a two week hiatus while she minds her brothers bar while he's away for two weeks.
And in walks Irishman Johnny Ryan. He's trying to reconcile with his sister Caitlin, Ashling's sister-in-law but Ashling is one hell of a distraction. He has to fill in two weeks until they come back. What a co-incidence. Johnny obviously has the gift of the blarney cos he convinces Ashling to have one last fling while they are marking time. Just sex. Famous last words.
This is a full on wham bang thank you sir kind of book but there is emotion in there as well. Only problem is that it made me feel inadequate as a woman. Or maybe just unlucky that I haven't met Johnny Ryan to give me that whole panty melting from across a crowded room feeling. There was a lot of moisture involved. Drought breaking moisture.
I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This was a very short and sweet novel. Ashling didn't have a chance to keep her word with her friend, Jenna, about no attachments, no men, while they started their business the second that Johnny walked through the door. Especially considering that Jenna wanted to jump his bones as well.
For this being such a short novel, I actually felt like there was a lot of character development, and the relationship grew throughout the novel. Most novellas are rushed and no back story, which makes it really hard to connect with the characters, but I didn't have that issue with this book.
Also, I appreciated the fact that the characters didn't fall into the "I love you stage" by the end of the book. I mean, they've known each other for 2 weeks, so it is realistic that they would want to get to know each other better before that happened.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and I'm glad I got a chance to read this eARC!
Fasten your seat belts because you are about to take off on one wild and hot romantic ride. This romance book is like a jet taking off using its afterburner it has extreme heat and hot passionate romance between two AMAZING characters. You are going to rave about the surprises and romance that leads to a HEA ending in this 5-star book by Abby.
Full review to come closer to release but I will first say I was honored to receive this as an arc from the author and second that I didn't think it was possible but this story was just has HOT and sweet and intense and awesome as Getting Off was!! PERFECTION!
3/19 Abby Green writes with such humor… She reduces me to one of those idiots sitting in the doctor’s office laughing out loud as I look down at my phone!
Example: “To my disgust, when he’d said bono all I could think about was one thing. Boner.”….” I’d assured myself I wouldn’t be waiting for him with legs open. Ha! I might as well have lain down naked and covered myself with sushi and handed him some chopsticks.”
Also LOL’d at: ” ‘Girlfriend, life is too fricking short to do without sex.’ ” (co-worker and friend Candy delivers a huge dose of the comic relief in Her Last Wild Ride)
And: “Mary Freaking Poppins and her cartoon birds were back and twittering deliriously.”
There’s also such emotion in Abby’s words. I feel my heart clinch and I hold my breath for a moment at some of her passages.
“With Johnny though, I’d had no sense of being able to hold anything back. With one touch he’d reached in and taken everything I was offering and more, and it scared the hell out of me. Even as I was honest enough to admit I wanted more.”
And “A question rose up inside me: Which pain was greater? Trying to self-protect, or just risking everything?”
This addition to the Cosmo Red-Hot Reads line is definitely one of my all time faves so far! The chemistry coming from this couple is off-the-charts and Abby writes them and their hang-ups and eventual fall to perfection!
You’ll read references to Ash’s brother Liam and Johnny’s sister Caitlin, their book called ‘Getting Off’ came out 2014. (I have it listed as one of my Top Contemporary Reads of 2014) Although it’s not crucial to this storyline that you read it first, I highly recommend you grab it and read it too! Abby Green has installed herself on my ‘must read’ list and I will suggest her to anyone who will listen!

Ashling Sullivan is working at a bar the first time she meets Johnny. She'll be soon starting a new job with her friend Jenna and she doesn't think she'll have time for a relationship especially after her last one wounded her. But, Johnny is not easily dismissed.
Johnny Ryan is desperate to make amends with his sister Caitlin. After leaving her behind years ago, he is finally ready to see her again. When he arrives at the bar his sister is not there instead he meets Ashling. Their attraction is immediate. Neither do relationships but sometimes the best laid plans fail us.
This is my first book by Abby Green but it won't be my last. I like both characters and their chemistry was Kaboom!! Cosmo Reads are short and you have to go in knowing they'll have the insta-love feeling but can't be avoided since the resolution has to happen in less than 100 pages.
‘He looked down at her and had to curb an animalistic urge to press her back against the bar and tip her head up and devour her until she couldn’t speak or see straight.’
Her Last Wild Ride is an extremely aptly titled novella from Cosmo’s Red-Hot Reads. With off-the-charts chemistry and a two week fling which rapidly turned into love, Ash and Johnny were an intriguing couple who were way out of their comfort zone.
I’ve been waiting for Johnny’s story since reading his sister Caitlin’s path to romance last summer in Getting Off. There were so many questions as to where he was and what happened after he stormed out of their home in Ireland.
Abby Green has done it again. Once again Ms Green has created a character that takes you on a wild fun ride. I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion and enjoyed it a great deal. Ashling is reeling from a recent heartbreak and decides to focus on opening a business with her best friend. In order to do so they both agree to give the new business everything. NO GUYS! At least until the business is off the ground. But wouldn't you know it, after making this pact Ashling meets the perfect guy. Johnny is willing to have a no strings fling with Ashling. What will she do? A hilariously, fun and hot read that I would definitely recommend.
For it being a novella, the story was not bad. Wish that it would have been longer or had an epilogue letting me know what happens. The chemistry between Ashling and Johnny is definitely there and that is why I wish the book would have been longer. The sex and connection between them is pretty intense, even though Ashling drove me crazy in the beginning when she kept denyin what could be. After she finally gave in, she still kept trying to push him away. I would have liked to have seen what became of the business that Ashling and Jenna were planning on starting. Hope there is another book to continue Ashling and Johnny's story.
3.5 stars. A pretty steamy read - in fact most of the novella IS steam. I would have preferred a little more story as Abby Green is an excellent writer.
The only other problem I had was that Ash's POV was written in the first person and Johnny's POV was written in 3rd person. I couldn't really wrap my head around that, as it seemed strange to me (why bother doing that ??) - it would have been much better for both of them to be in 3rd person.
I honestly found it quite hard to connect with these characters so I really didn’t care when they decided to have sexy time. But what actually brought the rating back up for me was the love scenes themselves - I couldn’t get that into them because I didn’t relate to the characters but even disinterested, those love scenes were explosive. I could tell that had I actually been invested and thought the characters had chemistry, I would’ve been out of my mind for them.
