Lost to grief after a tragic accident, Tony Green is thrust into a deadly game of survival. Kidnapped and hunted for sport, he must confront his captors and his own morality in a quest for vengeance and justice.
Tony Green's life was a picture of success and happiness until a devastating accident took away his family in an instant. Overwhelmed by the loss, and retreating into his shell, the businessman's life began spiraling into a dark abyss.
Seeking solace at a homeless camp in Los Angeles where he once helped others, a night of drinking leads to a horrifying turn of events. Kidnapped and imprisoned with other men, Tony learns that he is to be hunted for sport by a group of wealthy thrill-seekers who see the homeless as mere entertainment.
Awakening a primal instinct for survival, the ex-military soldier must turn the tables on his captors, transforming from prey to predator. With the help of an old army buddy and a tenacious county sheriff, Tony embarks on a relentless quest for justice. But as he tracks down the hunters, while being pursued by a relentless FBI agent, he must grapple with the moral implications of revenge as he struggles under the weight of his grief.
Will Tony find the strength to overcome the odds and seek justice, or will he lose himself in the darkness of vengeance?
Mike is an entrepreneur, real estate investor, former professional soccer player and coach. More recently, he has ventured into the world of writing and released his first novel in late 2024.
He currently lives in Florida with his wife, Tina, but they also spent many years in Kalamazoo, Michigan before moving south a few years ago. He grew up in suburban McLean, Virginia which is just outside of Washington DC. But he was also able to spend a lot of time out in the country in nearby Wardensville, West Virginia where his parents were from.
Reflecting on this dual lifestyle of McLean and Wardensville, he notes, “Best of both worlds.” In Northern Virginia, he enjoyed endless opportunities that were available growing up in the shadow of DC. Soccer emerged as his big passion that eventually materialized into a professional career. However, in the small town of Wardensville and a family farm property nearby, he would spend time with relatives and enjoy hunting, hiking, snake-catching, and as he says, “working my ass off with my dad and Grandpap putting in fence posts and stringing up barbed wire!”
Well written book. Plot threads well woven to create a continuous flow through till the ending. Overall good plot and great story. Ending a bit sudden. A question left unanswered?
I saw this book advertised on social media and thought it looked promising. I had my library order it. I'm glad I did. What a dark, action-packed story. As someone who used to hunt, and the reader of other stories were humans become the hunted (Savage Son by Jack Carr), this book had me hooked from the start. The writing is top notched and flows from chapter to chapter. The story centers around Tony Green, a successful partner in a financial business. Soon after a milestone celebration his family is tragically killed. A person filled with grief happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and is captured, taken to a remote farm, chained up, and them hunted like an animal. However, little do the captures know that Tony has skills of his own and escapes. In a role reversal the hunters become the hunted. This is an adrenaline packed book with elements of revenge and justice with a major cliffhanger at the end. I highly recommend this book.

This was a different scenario that I liked. In my mind, I rate it 4.25-4.5. There was not much background on Tony Green's experience. My concern is that the story ended rather abruptly. There are unanswered questions that leads you to another in this story. I don't like stories l Iike this. If the story/characters are interesting, then I will continue but this leaves me hanging.
This was a great book. Great suspense that made you want to keep on reading to find out what would happen next. Great character development. Loved the switches between viewpoints!
It was a good story. There were some typos but nothing I couldn't get past. The only thing that didn't make it a smooth read was the stilted formal conversation. It just wasn't how everyday people speak.
The first third of this novel was quite boring and predictable. It finally got moderately interesting and I read it all the way through even though one could guess what would happen from one chapter to the next. The author never explained why the main character was considered special, nor what happened to his family.

I started reading this and it started drawing me in steadily. About halfway through I was reading laying in bed, and I couldn’t put it down until I finished. Lots of action. By the way it ended, THERE HAS TO BE ANOTHER ONE COMING. Hurray!
Wow, what a great debut! Fantastic book! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and really hope, and believe, there will be another one. Looking forward to it!
Very well written. Excellent character development, good story. Hope Mr. Garrett is working on his next book. Some interesting people with more to explore.
