For five hundred years, the darkest of magics has lain dormant. Remnants of that magic still lurk in the deepest corners of the world. Some are beginning to stir again.
Kadaris expected long days of study when she began her apprenticeship at Finoren. Instead, her first assignment sends her deep into the wilds—alone—to investigate a series of strange disturbances in a remote, unsettled corner of the realm.
What starts as a simple inquiry into vanishing livestock and odd accidents quickly unravels into something far more a secretive cult, awakening forbidden magic with the power to upend the balance of the realm. Kadaris, still mastering her craft, must navigate an unfamiliar land, sift truth from deception, and confront forces she barely understands.
The deeper she digs, the more peril she finds—and the more she begins to question the world she thought she knew. The cult is growing. The stakes are rising. And her choices may alter the future of magic itself.
TJ has been a lifelong and voracious reader, right from the first grade. Fantastic worlds existed between the pages in books and that was where she lived. She read the Hobbit when she was about nine, and was on the hunt for them-- sure that, just like Tolkien said-- they were there, but good at hiding.
To escape Chi'hikk and Fern, Banashiin forms a portal and pulls Kadashar through to Dakar-Aj. Once there, Kadashar is set to learn magic with apprentice mage Korbus. When Kadashar says something that upsets the Moza'amonar, she has to go on a quest to Shadar Wold, a wooded area with a dangerous reputation. This story has plenty of action and a small amount of romance, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

Kadaris has fled with Banashiian to the mage city, where she has a chance to develop her powers. But Ch’hikk and Fern are not deterred – they follow. A city of mages, intrigue and subterfuge – major political games are being played. Can Kadaris manage the politics while also becoming a skilled mage? Al while keeping the relic safe from those who covet it (for good or bad?) Great character development, with much more growth in Fern. This new city/world is a great addition to the story.
Kadaris is at the mage city and ready to learn her craft. But of course she does not stay there and ff she goes. Kadaris travels and has a bit of mystery to deal with along with other stuff to deal with that kept the story hopping and entertaining. Grabbed me from the beginning and had me guessing at times to what might happen next. Some surprises and great characters kept it fun.
Book three and we travel to the city of mages. Kadaris really grows in this addition as she takes on the Political world and becomes the skilled mage we know she can be. There’s mystery, suspense, magic and danger everywhere as Kadaris takes on the dark and sinister cult as they try to take over in this captivating and enthralling addition.
Great third book in this series. Follow Kandaris as she learn more about magic. Follow her quest she is sent on. See how her character grows throughout the book. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to see where Kandaris will end up
An engrossing continuation of Kadaris’ tale, and her quest to become a mage. What an ending …. I just wanted to scream, “No, don’t stop now!” I can’t wait for the next book. I received a free copy of this book, with no obligation.
New Skills Kadaris grows as a mage through an adventure she is sent on. Fern gets a taste of court life. Interesting, fast paced story with wonderful characters.
Fern and Kadaris both continue to grow while life continues around them. Still curious about Juroh and his powers. Cannot wait to see how they grow from here!.
