Amazon Reviewer - “The characters were excellent…. and I liked the pace of the murder clues as I worked to decide who the killer was, plus there might be a romance with Mac…”

You love curling up with a good cozy mystery, don’t you?
The kind where the characters feel like old friends,
the clues unfold at just the right pace,
and there’s maybe a hint of romance to sweeten the deal.

You’re probably imagining a quiet town, a warm drink in hand, and a puzzle that keeps you guessing.

That’s exactly where you’ll meet Lucy Castleroad, a 35-year-old bakery owner in the picturesque tourist haven of Cameroon, where life revolves around cupcakes, antiques, and friendly faces.

At least, it did until a mysterious stranger walked into her bakery.

It starts Innocently
the out-of-towner orders a strawberry cupcake and a black coffee. Lucy, ever the gracious host, fetches his order with a smile. But when she returns to the dining room, he’s gone—vanished, with nothing but the traces of foul play. The peaceful rhythm of Cameroon screeches to a halt. This isn’t a town of crime or chaos; it’s a place where tourists snap photos and locals swap stories over pastries.

With her bakery ovens still humming, a grieving father leaning on her for support,
and a handsome delivery driver named Mac catching her eye, Lucy’s got more on her plate than ever.
Still, she swaps her rolling pin for a detective’s instincts, diving into a mystery that threatens the town she loves.

As the stakes rise—another disappearance, a chilling clue, a suspect too close to home—Lucy races to unmask the killer before Cameroon’s cozy charm is lost forever.

Readers can’t stop raving about the “excellent characters” who’ll feel like your new best friends,
the “pace of the murder clues” that’ll keep you guessing until the final page,
and that tantalizing hint of romance with Mac that might just bloom into something more.

So why not treat yourself to "A Sharp Knife Leads to a Missing Wife" today?
Grab your copy, join Lucy on this deliciously thrilling ride,
and help her knead through the suspects to bring peace back to
Cameroon—because a mystery this good deserves a spot on your shelf!

This is a small town, although the author tells us that is a town of 30k - mystery. The sheriff is incompetent imo - Lucy owns a bakery one day she allows a customer to enter before 8 am - and then her life, at least for the book changes.

He leaves a knife in her cupcake, effectively stabbing it and her table and a newspaper. Lucy doesn't think that this is normal, and she gets the sheriff involved who really could care less. Later that day or two, he winds up dead on the road. Lucy goes and investigates and she notices things that the sheriff overlooks.

Then the rest of the book she does the job of the sheriff - and gets the bad guy, which is the twist. :) The bad guy tells the sheriff "you better give her credit" because I will make sure they know during my trial that she is the one that solved it and not you.

There was unexpected romances between her father and ..... and her crush and Lucy.

Enjoyed the book!

A Sharp Knife Leads to a Missing Wife is book 1 in the Lucy Castleroad Mysteries by Marcus Rising. I felt that the characters were excellent. Since this is the beginning of the series, I thought that the author did a good job of laying the foundation. I liked the pace of the murder clues as I worked to decide who the killer was plus there might be a romance with Mac. I am looking forward to book 2, Lucy's Deadly Gemma Dilemma. This is book 1 of Lucy Castleroad Mystery series. It is a short story, but it covers the whole story detail perfectly. Lucy is a baker and owns her own store, she shows a little romance with the delivery guy. But at the beginning of the book, it starts with a mystery in Lucy's bakery. I cannot wait to read more to see what happens with Lucy and her little town.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I very much enjoyed it. This book kept my interest from the start. The pace was just right and there was a little twist to the story, which I always like. The characters were likeable as well as relatable. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
