A deeper level of consciousness can only be birthed from a space of darkness, the void of all possibility, as all of life has arisen from nothingness. Such is the paradox of awakening. When you find yourself held in suspension, and when you are catapulted out of everything you know to be true, it is easy to forget the truth of who you really are.
However, no matter the outer experiences, your innermost essence is unchangeable.
A sense of isolation and separation are undoubtedly facets of the dark night, but in reality you are never alone. Many people have walked this path before you, there are those who are currently engulfed in its midst and those who will follow.
The pieces in this book landed as my own journey through the wilderness. Each fragment is a lived experience, and each lived experience is a mentor.
I offer you these words as your companion while you transition through your own inner shadows…may they provide comfort as you move through the deepest levels of release and find your way home, to a self-compassion you never knew existed.
"Pilgrimage Through the Storm" by Bindiya B Chanrai offers a deeply introspective and emotional exploration of the human experience. Each poem reflects a journey marked by vulnerability, inner turmoil, and the search for meaning. Chanrai’s lyrical and evocative prose captures the complexity of the inner world as the speaker wrestles with isolation, fear, and the longing for connection and self-discovery.
I liked each one of the poems but my favourites are 'Goodnight' and 'Roommate'. In "Goodnight," the speaker’s tender plea for rest and spiritual solace highlights themes of longing, vulnerability, and the need for emotional healing. The imagery of shadows, monsters, and the call to the "Beloved" suggests a deep yearning for comfort and guidance in the midst of emotional unrest. In "Roommate" the speaker narrates how her roommate is both a friend and a foe. When she crumbled at times her roommate nurtures her and at other times she abandons her. The roommate, the speaker mentions, is she herself conveying that we ourself are our own greatest cheerleader and also the biggest obstacle.
The raw emotion conveyed through simple but powerful language creates a sense of existential longing, leaving the reader with a poignant sense of the speaker’s pain and uncertainty. The book presents a powerful narrative of self-reflection, healing, and the ongoing search for peace in the face of life's struggles. Chanrai’s writing is both deeply personal and universally relatable, offering readers a window into the complexities of the heart and mind.
The book "Pilgrimage through the storm" by Bindiya B Chanrai is a short poetry book of only 80 pages. These poems delve into the themes of loneliness, isolation, emptiness and finally self realisation and self awakening. I loved the poet's positive approach that could be seen through the poems. The poems are crafted in a beautiful and soulful way. I believe that readers can connect themselves through the poems that are written based on everyday life.
_'The ghouls of tomorrow are in their element,_ _It seems my Beloved is on sabbatical,_ _Which leaves me defenseless and unprotected._ _Alone.'_
The lines like this made me keep reading until I finished the book. The poems are beautifully presented.
The poem which stood out the most for me was "Walking in Fear". We often feel afraid of something within ourselves that we can't name. We want to get out of its control but we can't. We get consumed by it daily and the fear within. It haunts us and follows us, consuming us in whole. The terror of the feeling was rightly captured by the poet.
The language used by the author is easy and lucid, perfect for beginner readers. If you are looking for a light and comfy poetry book, you must pick up this one.
The poems are soothing, soulful and written in easy language. The poems help to identify ourselves and awoke our spirit from within. It is a great book, must be read by people who feel lost and find no purpose. I will recommend this book to everyone.
Bindiya Chanrai's "Pilgrimage Through the Storm" is much more than merely a collection of poetry-it is a pilgrim's account in portraying the soul's growth in the face of life's adversities and the eventual resilience that it becomes within human experience. This book, which is divided into beautifully carved verse, travels through loss to healing and self-discovery, reflecting on the profound journey traveled in human condition.
Chanrai's poetic style excels in dynamic combinations of emotion with literary elegance. It evokes images and metaphors so extraordinary that they plunge the reader directly into deeply personal yet recognizably universal experiences. Each poem feels like reading softly to the reader, evoking silent reflections on one's own difficulties and victories. It mimics the stages of healing, using various voices, from despair to self-awareness and, finally, to hope and renewal.
This book attracts me most because it is universal. Those same emotions and those same struggles, conveyed through these poems, might be common among different ages and cultures. These personal moments become a good common denominator made so by Chanrai's beautiful telling that inspires and comforts. Here's my favourite one:
"Never forget you are a personification of pure Divine consciousness. Appearances are always changing. Whatever the outward impression, the river will always take you back to the sea."
Another reason that makes this book a great asset: it applies now, and it will apply in the future. Silence asks one to stop and console himself, and it constantly reminds that challenges can never be that absolute, but they can change an individual. Chanrai uncloaks evolution and vulnerability in this book, thus making it the companion of every emotional seeker or seeker towards spirituality.
In brief, this compilation comprises celebration: Celebration of the undauntable spirit of man. He carries with himself the beacon of hope and reminds oneself that very much even in the most violent of storms, there is light within reach. So, "Pilgrimage Through the Storm" should be read by all those poetry enthusiasts and by all those who yearn for connection, inspiration, and even healing.
This book will help you envision a level of self-compassion that you are not yet aware of and will guide you through transitioning the inner shadows of your life.
Chanrai not only articulates her feelings, but she also lets readers become absorbed in them. Anyone who has ever been lost, uncertain, or introspective will resonate with the poems, which serve as quiet companions.
Few of the sonnets that piqued me:
💖 "If I shared that nothingness is the point from which all joy emanates, Could you possibly shift your perception?"
Life seems almost done when a person is left with nothing. But it is a common saying that every ending has a new beginning. A person who shifts his perception from negativity to positivity can make a huge difference in his life. What matters is shifting of perception, from which all joy emanates.
💖"Self-care, self-nurture, self-love Forgiveness, release, surrender. You throw these words around with no qualms but refrain from giving any instruction."
These words must surround us but not imposed. One likes to be supported and not instructed.
💖"The ghouls of tomorrow are in their element, It seems my Beloved is on sabbatical, Which leaves me defenseless and unprotected. Alone."
A person spends most of his time wondering about the future and expects the same from his beloved. But life may throw different tantrums that are hard to face.
💖"This tender heart breaks, time and time again, Mourning the loss of dreams. Hands tightly clasped together, I whimper in your shadow, My Spirit crumbled to dust."
Our heart breaks again and again at the failure of dreams. We hold our dreams tightly, but life has some other plans and lets it shatter in dust in a blink of an eye.
Overall, Pilgrimage Through the Storm is an insightful and evocative read ideal for readers seeking solace in soul-searching poetry. It serves as a reminder to us that every feeling is a journey in and of itself that eventually leads to self-discovery.
"Pilgrimage Through the Storm" by Bindiya Chanrai is a collection of poetry worth reading for probing the human experience of traversing through the darkest hours of life. It talks about the resilience that rests within individuals, self-discovery, spiritual awakening, etc. As much as the verses of Chanrai have one waving paradoxically, that between the light and the dark, they could also serve as companions through the individual's journey of transformation. The poetry itself speaks of being deeply introspective, shunning the evasion techniques from such vices like vulnerability in guests for them to know what strength from within is like.
Chanrai's is a voice that evokes and lyricizes raw emotion, speaking meaning. Each poem thus becomes one fragment of an experience lived and carried forth with authenticity and universality. Intense imageries and metaphors invoke a highly powerful connectivity between the reader and poet's path. It not only reflects personal struggles but also suggests an extension from them regarding those who have experienced hardships and are finding comfort and clarity in the dark.
Here's my favourite quote from the book:
"Smoke and mirrors, The limitation of time exists only in your mind. The present is eternity in absolute terms."
This quote I love dearly as it speaks deep into philosophical connotations relating to perception, time, and reality, urging people to abandon their surface realities and adopt a timeless-bounding perspective.
"Pilgrimage Through the Storm" is way beyond a collection of poetry; an arm from the storm is what it can also do to some of the people who are going through their storms. It is about pausing, reflecting, and taking comfort in something shared by all humans. Chanrai is again an imposed sample of how words can heal and inspire.
"Has loneliness ever visited, and engulfed you completely, leaving you abandoned in the desert? Have you woken at sunrise and yearned for the holding silence of the night? Or do a myriad of anxieties haunt you at sunset, leaving you longing for the light of day?"
Human mind is always at conflict. We know one thing and believes the other. Human emotions are yet another fragile things being in existence. It regulates the overall human actions, and beliefs and thereby creates lifestyle through experience. One such concept of those emotions is being aptly expressed in this poetry book. . The book, as a whole, is an insighful exploration of the human experience, delving into the complexities of self-reflection and awareness. These poetries are not just the creative way of expression, but it hold a mirror to our own self confronting our fears, self doubts, desires and truths. Each poem speaks of subtle details and introspection of the human condition through a journey of self-discovery, patience and growth. . Some of the titles that left a deep impact in me were Roommate, Fellow Travellers, Peace, and Shame. Sharing below a few lines from Roommate- "At times, when I crumple, she takes over and nurtures my crumpleness. At other times, when I most need her, she abandons me. I am sure you have guessed that roommate is I. The only problem is, We haven’t actually met."
These lines of the poem reminds me of our minds where at times it deceives us and other times, it becomes a loyal companion to help us navigate the toughest paths. It's also a reminder that the most powerful tool we possess is our own awareness, and that the greatest journey we can undertake is the one within.
When I picked up this book, I was in awe of the writers writing style, her strength and her determination to rise up against all the odds. I did go back to a few of her verses to think more deeply and yes, I did note some of them down to gain strength during difficult times in the future. It’s very emotional, empowering of sorts and you can connect in a lot of ways.
One of the poems that grabbed my attention was "Good night ". It's one of the most peaceful word that hits the mind. After all the highs and lows, a person gets Calmness and strength for the next morning at the end of the day. Here also, the writer is communicating about the dark night that is coming holding us tightly in its embrace, giving shelter, peace and comfort.
Another one is "Fear Of Commitment" that was equally involving. As in, the sentences formed were emotionally charged and a very genuine question asked by the narrator to the beloved. It's a Reassurance that the poet wants before commitment. The trust and longevity and again the clearance that is asked about the decision taken is expressed in the form of a prose . There are many more pieces that will make the readers feel connected with then, giving capability and releif in strenuous situations.
This book is a collection of many such strong memorable poems that sticks with the readers in hard times giving them potency to face the emotions of life.
Bindiya Chanrai’s "Pilgrimage Through the Storm" is a deeply introspective collection of poetry that delves into themes of loneliness, isolation, and self-awakening. Each poem feels like a personal journey, capturing the emotions we all grapple with—be it confession, commitment, or the ache of unreciprocated love. Chanrai’s words are both tender and raw, offering a space for readers to reflect on their own emotional landscapes.
One poem that particularly stood out to me is No Mercy. It poignantly explores the agony of giving one’s all to someone, only to receive nothing in return. The poem paints a heartbreaking picture of silence in the face of longing—of suffering for someone who remains indifferent. Its emotional weight lingers long after reading, resonating with anyone who has ever felt the sting of one-sided love.
Pilgrimage Through the Storm is a moving and evocative read, offering solace to those who have felt lost in their emotions. Chanrai’s poetry is unflinchingly honest, making this collection a must-read for those who appreciate poetry that speaks directly to the heart.
The moving collection of poetry "Pilgrimage Through the Storm" by Bindiya Chanrai explores the depths of human emotions, including enlightenment isolation solitude, and suspension. Chanrai encapsulates the essence of emotional journeys in her rhymes, presenting every emotion as an experience that molds and changes us, whether it be love, commitment, or confession.
After reading this book, I was amazed by the author's courage, writing style, and will to overcome any obstacles. I revisited several of her verses to reflect further, You can connect in many ways, and it's empowering and emotionally charged.
Good Night, Walking in Fear, If I, Unconditional Love, and Fellow Traveller are a few of the poems that truly catch my attention. It highlights the silent struggles we face within ourselves and eloquently captures the feeling of having uneasiness in one's gut. The poem is very personal yet broadly applicable because of its intimate tone.
This book is a compilation of numerous powerful, unforgettable poetry that provide readers the strength to deal with life's emotions throughout difficult moments.
"Pilgrimage Through the Storm" by Bindiya Chanrai is a beautiful exploration of deep human emotions. This poetry book mainly delves into the themes of loneliness, isolation and awakening. The verses are poetic and calming. The author through her poems pushes her readers towards self realisation and helps them come out stronger. The poems are of short to medium length.
Almost all the poems became close to my heart while I read the book, but 'Peace' states 'To be gently seated in your feelings Allow them to wash over your soul.' I felt some lines like this so close to my heart. A few of my favourite poems from the books are- Peace, If I (From Me to My Beloved), and Unconditional Love. The poem If I (From Me to My Beloved) explores the narrator's inner fears and questions to her lover. She asks him if he would do things for her if she would ask little stuffs from him. This shows the pure, selfish and innocent love we all search for in our partner.
However, some of the poems could've been crafted in a better way, like On The Cusp. If you're a beginner, just starting to read, this book is a great choice! The poems are easy to decipher, soothing and comforting. This book felt like a warm cup or coffee on a winter morning.
Being a lover of poetry books, this book really stood out for me. The language of the book is very easy, but the emotions it held made me relate to the poems very much. I loved reading this book.
In "Pilgrimage Through the Storm", Bindiya Chanrai gives an immersive engagement with spiritual awakening and inner most clarity which is not the avoidance of the difficult phase of our life but the bravery to experience it. The poet’s book remains a light to those struggling on their own psychological stormy seas, penetrating their artistic waves with inspired luminancy. Each piece is pieced together with individual precision that encourages readers into thought-provoking stillness.
Chanrai’s speaking is soothing and knowledgeable and guides the reader to self- realization in a soothing way. Her message developed in three intense movements—embracing uncertainty, seeking the core of one’s self, practicing loving-care and self-care. It almost feels like a triadic structure, where each of the sections escalate each other a little like composing notes of a meditative chant harmonizing. An unforgettably powerful moment in the poem sees the narrator standing barefoot during a deluge, his eyes shut, muttering; “I am not lost –I am being reshaped”. That moment deeply touched me. It represents the fact that giving in to hardship is not depression, but a change.
The clumsiness of the setting in the book goes beyond physicality; Rather, it is present in the sacred arts of the heart. By use of poetic language and strong internal imagery, the author builds a meditative environment in which readers are both taken in and listened to. Her words typically sound like affirmations, and they soften the sharp corners of grief or loneliness or fear. The book is not direct as into narration, instead, it runs like a river full of personal illumination and philosophical musings.
This work doesn’t just get read, it’s lived. It’s the sort of book you read silently, and one you re-read a line that reflects your own secret queries.
“Pilgrimage through the Storm” shows us how light comes around at the somberest times and all we have to do, is look at things from another perspective. Brokenness often comes before wholeness, and every storm we go through is a sacred path home to our broken selves – such is the gentle truth-telling of Chanrai.
More than a book is “Pilgrimage Through the Storm” by Bindiya Chanrai that is the very soft companion for soul’s darkest hours. Our heads are re-entered into the fertile ground of human consciousness, and we are also introduced to the incredible atmosphere of real transformation that usually starts in emptiness, when we are stripped of all illusions and compelled to find ourselves on their flooring, unclothed. As philosophical meditations and poetic reflections the book doesn’t promise a linear story and rather a soulful unraveling that welcomes readers to a deep thought.
Chanrai draws on her lived experiences to extend an empathetic hand to readers who are undergoing what, to some, is the “dark night of the soul”. There is a particularly poignant scene in one poem, where the narrator sits at a window, and watches the fog descend on a still forest, and says to himself, Nothing outside is clearer than the storm in me—but I am learning to breathe here as well. That line made a deep impression on me.
Chanrai’s words emanate emotional backing as well as spiritual maturity. She doesn’t even give hollow words of reassurance; she invites readers to rest in stillness, in solitude, in storm. Her prose is a smooth flowing stream of words, and yet filled so with sensory details, that she roots her abstraction in the lived experience of life. The lack of a traditional structure parallels the nonlinearity of authentic healing paths; it doesn’t go in a straight line, but as a spiral of returning, letting go, and reclaiming.
What distinguishes this book so powerfully is the deep synchronizedness of its personal nature. Though a product of Chanrai’s own inner country side, her musings are those of accustomed wisdom, like a thoughtful friend reading your soul. She brings isolation to sanctuary and vulnerability to strength.
There is something of a candle in the dark about reading “Pilgrimage Through the Storm” not to drive the shadows away, but to behold them more keenly, and walk with them. It’s a spiritual map made of silence, softness, and shimmering truth. It’s not just a book—it’s a remembrance of who you really are, even when everything else has fallen away.
My experience with reading "Pilgrimage Through the Storm" by Bindiya B. Chanrai became extremely personal along with being thought-provoking. The compilation of poems and prayers investigates how one discovers themselves while developing resilience and embracing the shadows to achieve self-enlightenment. We can find direction in life’s storms through channeling Carl Jung’s belief that true growth emerges when we make unconscious darkness visible which Bindiya B. Chanrai exemplifies in her writing.
One of the most vivid scenes in the book for me was a poem in which Chanrai describes standing still in the middle of the storm, experiencing the madness swirling around her but refusing to flee or push back. In the quiet, she reports that she heard her own soul speak to her for the first time—soft, steady, full of truth. That moment seemed to me utterly powerful because it conveyed the message that quietness and being present in the darkest moments can be the seeds of profound self-discovery. It made me remember that sometimes the most transformative breakthroughs occur when we no longer struggle against our pain and instead listen to what it is trying to teach us.
The element that made this book so attractive to me was its authentic exposure of thoughts. The poems create a direct dialogue because it appears that Chanrai communicates one-on-one with readers. The emotions she expresses in her writing creates a cathartic experience while giving guidance to people fighting through mental crises. Certain lines in the text made me stop and think while providing emotional recognition of my own experiences.
I was particularly drawn to the way her words apply to all people. She teaches us that even though the path through darkness appears lonely we always remain undivided from others. Across society there have been numerous individuals who experienced identical difficulties and still several people will confront these difficulties. From this perspective I gained understanding that personal obstacles are shared by all humans across the world.
The organizational approach of this text allows readers to easily understand its content. Each short poem packs such power that readers can gain significant insight from them. The same lines within the book frequently drew me back because I could discover fresh meanings with each return. Various poems had different weight levels but every one of them included a message of promise combined with personal change.
"Pilgrimage Through the Storm" functions as a therapeutic guide that provides both emotional support and introspective growth to individuals who want to discover themselves better and recover. According to Chanrai accepting the challenges in life functions as a pathway for authentic personal development instead of demonstrating weakness. Everyone searching for personal growth should read this book since I strongly recommend it.
I discovered a reassuring companion through reading "Pilgrimage Through the Storm" written by Bindiya Chanrai when I reached my deepest period of despair. The collection of poems finds its message for those who have experienced the depths of loneliness and despair.
Chanrai portrays feelings of sadness and fear along with feelings of separation from others combined with discovering peace and hope. The average length of her poems prevents readers from losing track when fatigue or mental fatigue makes reading challenging.
Her lines in "Peace" become most meaningful when she states "To be gently seated in your feelings / Allow them to wash over your soul." These lines spoke directly to me since they provided validation to experience all feelings without criticism. The poem taught me about the importance of staying with our emotions since society seems to advise us to dismiss emotions quickly.
"I (From Me to My Beloved)" emerged as one of the most impactful poems among all the ones I read. This piece explores the vulnerable questions which all people wish to ask their special someone about their support during times of minor needs. How will your feelings stay true when I am not showing my best self? The manner Chanrai depicts this unpretentious and immature need to be reassured made me feel accepted in my emotions.
Reading this book provides comfort as a peaceful navigator during challenging periods. The small beacons within each poem expose sufficient path illumination to help conquer the following step despite lacking complete path visibility. Through her poetry Chanrai demonstrates that healing does not become effortless but she provides consolation by representing fallen comrades who navigated previous challenges.
The pleasant aroma of coffee during early morning winter hours provided me comfort and familiarity like this book delivers. The melancholy and desolate themes of the poems do not substitute a deeper message which predicts brighter moments will eventually arrive.
The book functions as a supportive companion for people experiencing their dark times or spiritual low points. The book lacks solutions but it provides essential companionship during your personal travel thus meeting your fundamental need to not feel isolated.

Through her writing, Chanrai invites readers to embark on a journey of introspection and self-discovery, encouraging them to confront their inner shadows and emerge stronger and more resilient. The book is a testament to the human spirit's capacity for growth, transformation, and healing.
It has thought-provoking and inspiring content, describing it as "a plainly worded prayer for each of life's situations" that "invokes us to pause and realign our thoughts with the one who brings us peace" ³.
It is a beautifully written and deeply moving book that offers readers a powerful tool for navigating life's challenges and finding inner peace.
I deeply connected with the poem "LOST". "The weight of the world on my shoulder, A cross too haard to bear. Lost in a maze with no way out Just Me, Myself, and, I". Those words will dig your heart deep, and you might get wounded too but it will also allow you to cross the pain and come back with new energy.
"Beloved Counsel" - " You say you will surrender But only to a point. This is not surrender, you are deluding yourself. To plant the seed, And then, doubt your faith... I promise you, The rain is now on its way".

Bindiya Chanrai’s "Pilgrimage Through the Storm" isn not just a book of poems — it is a meditative walk through the inner landscape of pain, resilience and awakening. Each page feels like a moment of pause, like sitting in front of a window during a thunderstorm and slowly realizing the rain has its own rhythm of cleansing.
The collection moves fluidly from emotional turmoil to gentle acceptance, echoing the natural flow of recovery after loss or upheaval. Chanrai does not rush the process — her poems honor the slowness of healing. They meander, they sit with grief, they breathe with doubt and eventually, they stretch toward light.
Her language is deceptively simple yet layered with depth. The metaphors ripple across the surface but hold powerful undercurrents. Whether she writes of rivers or silence, there is always a quiet assurance that something greater holds us, even when we feel adrift.
One of the most resonant lines reads: "Appearances are always changing. Whatever the outward impression, the river will always take you back to the sea."
It is the kind of line that settles into your mind and resurfaces days later, offering new meaning each time.
What I appreciate most is the spiritual grounding in these poems. There is no preachiness, only a gentle guiding hand that seems to whisper, “You’re not alone”. It speaks to seekers, thinkers and anyone who has ever stood at the edge of something ending and wondered what might begin next.
This book is not about grand epiphanies or dramatic transformations. It is about the quiet miracle of endurance, the grace of being human and the courage to walk through life’s storms and still believe in light.
"Pilgrimage Through the Storm" is a collection I will return to again — not for answers, but for comfort. It is the kind of poetry that stays with you long after the pages are closed.
Book - Pilgrimage through the storm Poet - Bindiya B. Chanrai Pages - 81 No. of poems - 40
This is an incredible collection of poems, which digs deep into humane emotions. What I loved most about the book is its beautiful presentation of simple things. "To learn how to create from emptiness, Spontaneous arrival of joy." - Genie in a bottle. Some of the lines of the book are so pretty, it left me wondering about every single thing, but in a positive way! The poem "Walking in Fear" narrates how we hinder our own life with our own fear. Life is full of uncertainties, and we should not be afraid of going on. Life has it's own ups and down, but if you don't move forward, obviously we won't go down, but certainly we won't be able to go up.
The poems are beautifully and soulfully crafted by the poet. I adore Chanrai's writing style. However, some poems like Human nature and No Mercy felt like they could've been written in a much better way. The slow transformation of the book from loneliness to self realisation is one of the best things I must say the book holds.
From emptiness in one's life to self-awakening magic, the book has it all! It's for all those people who feel lost in their life. Believe me, it all works out, and that's the magic of this book. It helps its readers awoke from within.
I believe that this is a great book for the people who are into poetry, and who are just beginning to read. It's an ideal book because it is under 100 pages, and the language used by the poet is easy to read. As a poetry lover myself, I love the way the author presented the poems, in a simple yet powerful way. I finished it in a single sitting. The book can have some minor modifications, but it's a great choice for a warm afternoon.
Bindiya B. Chanrai’s "Pilgrimage Through the Storm" is not just a collection of poetry, it is a quiet conversation between the soul and its own reflections. Each poem feels like a gentle nudge towards self-awareness, urging the reader to acknowledge their inner storms instead of running from them. The verses speak to those moments when life feels heavy, when despair knocks louder than hope, yet through her compassionate tone, Chanrai reminds us that healing is not the absence of pain but the courage to walk through it.
What makes this book stand out is its simplicity. The language flows with sincerity, stripped of ornamentation yet full of emotion. Chanrai’s words resonate like whispered prayers - anchoring, soothing and deeply human. Through poems like “Lost” and “Beloved Counsel”, she articulates the ache of isolation while gently pointing toward renewal. “The rain is now on its way”, she writes, symbolising faith’s quiet return after long periods of doubt.
Reading "Pilgrimage Through the Storm" feels like taking a slow walk through your own emotions with each step, the fog clears a little more. Chanrai doesn’t offer solutions; instead, she offers companionship through verse, reminding readers that transformation often begins with stillness and surrender.
For those standing at the crossroads of uncertainty, this book serves as both mirror and guide. It is a balm for weary hearts, a call to rediscover grace amidst chaos and a testament to the resilience that quietly resides within us all.
Recommended for readers seeking comfort, introspection and a deeper sense of spiritual calm.

They take readers from darkness toward self-awareness and enlightenment. Drawing inspiration from Carl Jung’s philosophy, the book emphasizes that true transformation emerges not by escaping darkness but by confronting and integrating it.
I loved reading the poems and my favourite is Black : "Passing through the dark night, plunged into obscurity, Deserted, remote, fragmented. Caught up in the vortex, ruminating thoughts, Consumed, with no room for escape. Hanging by a string, wasting away, The whims of this world my compass. I beg, I beseech, radio silence, My Beloved does not respond......"
The author eloquently captures the essence of the "dark night of the soul," reassuring readers that while the journey may feel isolating, they are never truly alone.
I found the lessons evocative. The writing in the book seen to offer companionship to those navigating their own inner storms.
The poem Fear of Tomorrow illustrates the anxieties of the unknown, while In Gratitude beautifully conveys the paradoxical lessons of patience, stillness, and introspection granted by life’s hardships. Each piece in this collection serves as both a mentor and a mirror, inviting readers to embrace their struggles as stepping stones to greater self-compassion.
Review : Bindiya Chanrai's Pilgrimage Through the Storm is an inspiring and poignant collection of poems that highlights powerful human emotions such as love, loss, faith, yearning, self-reflection, and ultimately, acceptance:
"And most importantly, Accept yourself, unequivocally, exactly where you are."
Through these poems, the author portrays the journey of the human soul as it moves through the dark tunnel of suffering to find the light at the end. In the beginning, the poems express how "Lost" the soul feels, searching for its beloved. In "No Mercy," the soul yearns for the beloved to notice and help end its pain, but, unfortunately, there's "not a peep from him."
Next comes the longing for unconditional love, followed by the self-reflection found in "The Choice is Yours," and so on.
The language of these poems is simple, yet rich with meaningful imagery and metaphors that will evoke strong emotions. Each poem contains elements that will connect with your heart, making you feel as though they were written specifically for you. Overall, this poetry collection is a must-read—even for beginners to the genre—because by the end of the book, you will be inspired and profoundly moved.

Through her verses, Chanrai captures the essence of emotional journeys, portraying each feeling—whether it’s confession, commitment, or love—as an experience that shapes and transforms us.
What makes this collection stand out is its raw honesty. Chanrai doesn’t just articulate emotions; she allows readers to immerse themselves in them. The poems serve as quiet companions, resonating with anyone who has ever felt lost, uncertain, or introspective.
One of my favorite poems from the collection, Fellow Traveller, beautifully encapsulates the solitude of pain. It vividly portrays the sensation of carrying anxiety in one’s stomach, highlighting the silent battles we fight within ourselves. The poem’s intimate tone makes it feel deeply personal, yet universally relatable.
Pilgrimage Through the Storm is a deeply reflective and evocative read, perfect for those who find solace in poetry that speaks to the soul. It reminds us that every emotion is a journey in itself, one that ultimately leads to self-discovery.

A standout piece for me is Walking in Fear, a powerful poem that delves into the terror that resides within us—the kind that we cannot fully comprehend or name. It portrays fear as an overwhelming force, something beyond our control, something that consumes us whether we want it to or not. The poem’s haunting tone lingers, making readers question the fears they carry and how deeply they shape their existence.
Pilgrimage Through the Storm is a profound and thought-provoking collection that speaks to the universal human experience. Chanrai’s poetry is both intimate and evocative, making this book a must-read for anyone who has ever wrestled with their own emotions in search of meaning.
Review : "Pilgrimage Through the Storm" by Bindiya Chanrai is a heartwarming and moving collection of poems. In each poem, the author explores the complexity of human emotions through her own experiences.
The first poem that caught my attention was "Goodnight." In this poem, the author asks sleep to give her respite from the burden of thoughts that often arise the moment we lay our heads on the pillow. Instead of lulling us into slumber, sleep eludes us, leaving us with insomnia. This is how I felt the moment I read the poem, and I was hooked from then on.
The author then expresses longing and yearning through her poems, followed by the bitter truths in "The Choice is Yours"—a poem that offers the self-reflection we all need. There are also poems where the author reflects on how we often pretend and lie to protect ourselves and our hearts. By the end of this journey, the acceptance of oneself and one’s worth will surely inspire you.
The poems are simple yet complex in their depth. But if you're a poetry lover, it will be easy for you to immerse yourself in them. I highly recommend this collection.
I picked up this book during what I can only describe as my own personal storm—right before my finals and questioning everything. From the first page, it felt like the author had somehow been reading my journal.
What struck me most wasn't just the beautiful writing (though there's plenty of that), but how accurately it captured that specific feeling of being suspended between your old life and whatever comes next. I literally highlighted half the book and kept texting passages to my best friend at 1 AM.
There’s a chapter where the author describes her "roommate"—a version of herself who’s been with her forever, sometimes a comfort, sometimes a saboteur. That moment gave me chills. It was so tender, strange, and real. The line “We haven’t actually met” hasn’t left me since. It made me think about the parts of myself I avoid meeting too.
Unlike most spiritual books that promise enlightenment through positivity, this one acknowledges the necessary darkness. It's messy, it's honest, and it's the only book about transformation that didn't make me feel worse about struggling. If you're going through it right now, this belongs on your nightstand.

Have you ever looked for the right words or thoughts in difficult times? Not only does this book provide inspiration in that moments, but it does so much more.
When we are in dark places, we need something to remind us that there is always a light at the end. This This volume is so lovely and full of poem after poem highlighting exactly that.
A plainly worded poem/prayer for many of life's difficult situations to show we are not alone.
