A collection of Florence Carlyle's published written work, excerpts from her personal letters, and a selection of her paintings with the ekphrastic haiku and senryu poetry of Emily De Angelis.
This beautiful book opened me up to an artist I was previously unaware of. Her beautiful paintings paired with the skilled poetry from Emily made for an incredible experience. I really enjoyed reading Florence's letters about writing books and trying to find a publisher. I am now mourning the fact that her books were not published, as this collection would've urged me to go and find them.
If you have the chance, pick this little volume up.
An incredible collection. Emily’s foreword is thoughtful and intriguing, and her poetry is the perfect accompaniment to Florence Carlyle’s paintings. The inclusion of some of Carlyle’s own writing really added to our understanding of the painter and her life. I loved it!
