But missing books and faulty pillars threaten stability
In the aftermath of their last battle, several of Quinn’s allies are still healing. In the mean time while the Library and Lynx are still regaining all their memory pathways, Quinn must help resolve the mystery of the Ashiron pillar.
But that’s not their only problem. In order to expand the Library’s power, more branches must be opened, but it’s difficult to do that when not everyone is willing to return their books.
Quinn must reactivate pillars, reopen more branches, hunt down the missing dimension books, and find the sabotage culprits. As long as she can master her own heritage before meeting any of her relatives, she might even have a chance.
KT Hanna has a love for words so extreme, a single word can spark entire worlds.
Born in Australia, she met her husband in a computer game, moved to the U.S.A. and went into culture shock. Bonus? Not as many creatures specifically out to kill you.
When she’s not writing, she freelance edits for Chimera Editing, and chases her daughter, husband, corgi, and cat. No, she doesn’t sleep. She is entirely powered by the number 2, caffeine, and beef jerky.
I really like (and respect) that throughout the whole series you have the age old problem of "You have doing it fast, going it well, and doing it cheap. Pick two.") Quinn is constantly balancing managing the library, leveling up skills, and retrieving books. One will always fall behind. Meanwhile, the enemy is poking Quinn with a sharp stick and giggling the whole time. She never really gets to settle and collect herself.
This is the first time it seems as if Quinn is coming into her own. She is still an "egg" in the grand scheme of things, but she isn't a complete pushover on the battlefield. That power on the battlefield is balanced by the lack of experience. It's the definition of "book smart, not street smart". But at least she has the humility to acknowledge this.
Also, whoa - the twist with Aradie! She is officially a badass.
I just hope this power doesn't go to Quinn's head and we have to deal with her going to the dark side. I like she is wrestling with the new power she has and the moral use of it. I hope that doesn't suddenly stop one way or another. Humility and understanding should always be a struggle if you are of the right moral code. (In my opinion). Watching the library itself, and Lyn as well, wrestle with the humility of a hack is awesome to see.
K.T Hannah succeeds against, navigating her readers throughout an ever-expanding universe brimming with heart wrenching twists as alliances shift and turn and select friends make sacrifices for the greater good of the universe. Quinn steadily grows into her role as a Librarian, wading through a politically-terse environment as she unravels millennium long schemes - will she be able to correct them and save the Library from extinction?
Quinn, the Librarian, feels responsible for everything, and yet still needs more power to solve the problems facing her and the library and her friends.
Self-published authors still need editors. Infrequent spelling and grammatical errors have to be annoying for anyone. Especially when they write fun stories about libraries.
Alternate universe, magic, fantasy races, quest to defend and restore the library
Quinn has even more challenges as she and her friends root out more traitors and continue restoring library specialty collections. Enemies fall, and so do friends.
Above average editing. Ready for the next book in the series!
It lost me a bit in the beginning. The angst was a bit much. There was also a couple spelling errors that pulled me out of the story. There was less "winking" though so that was refreshing. I do think Hanna needs to work on using dialogue to portray emotion so that characters dont need to keep "winking."
Book 4 is a non stop read. Masterful characters. Suspense, action, plot twists. The descriptions are so detailed it’s like you are there. A few bad guys have been ferreted out but more under suspicion.
This series is getting more and more interesting. K.T. Hanna is such a great storyteller. This book will get you well and truly hooked. So difficult to put down.
We are at the part of the hero's journey where the stakes get risen, tragedy becomes the norm, and they desperately seek to get stronger. Awesome. 👍🏽👍🏽
